Congrats to broadford utd on winnin the league..well deserved..should be a great Desmond cup final also..sounds like the shannonside vs rathkeale b was a great game. Anyone know who scored for shannonside?

There was a number of cars broken into at Clounreask at the recent Abbeyfeale vs Broadford game.
Just a word of warning to the many people who may be travelling to finals there in the next couple weeks to leave valuables at home.

Daniel Power with 2 and Mike Behan with 2.
Anyone know how the player from rathkeale B who collapsed after coming off is getting on. Its a disgrace that there was no ambulance available for him. Two ambulances on in the county for a bank holiday weekend where riverfest, munster game, fleadh ceoil and another festival in Ballyhahill, disgraceful really. Heard that shannondoc took over an hour to get there. Fair play to the lads from Foynes fire brigade who brought an oxygen tank for him. Hope that player is ok and that he has a speedy recovery.
Any opinions on both finals involving Broadford and Shannonside.

What do Rockhill have to do to win Division 1. Is it in their own hands
tricky
08/05/2012, 12:25 PM
Yeah, all rockhill have to do is win on sun to collect cup, however if they draw and Carrig win then it would be a playoff, if kileaney win and Carrig win it's a playoff between Carrig and kileaney and finally if rockhill win, Carrig lose and athea win. Rockhill will win league and it will be a playoff between kileaney, Carrig and athea for promotion. Very interesting that it's coming down to final round of matches, best of luck to all teams

Didn't hear carrig result but killeaney beat rockhill 3-1
tough on rockhill if they dont even finish top 2 after a great season.
tricky
13/05/2012, 10:09 PM
Carrig won 4 0 and kileaney won 3 1 so it's a playoff between them to see who are winners and who are promoted, tough on rockhill but they knew the needed a win or at least a draw today and couldn't get it. Great finish to season though

Lads don't know if this is through but heard rockhill were missing a few players today because of Gaa commitments this evening,if that's the case they don't deserve to go up,work hard for 8 months and then walk away, shows where priorities are if through!!!

For the same reason I'm glad Kildimo went down and Rathkeale survived.

Must be a long time since you were there they have dressing rooms but the pitch is difficult to play on and you'd want about 20 footballs for every time it goes over the wall!

I couldn't agree more with draper.glad to see carrig and killeaney come back up.have brilliant facilities and great pitches..in one way I'm happy kildimo went down cos they have a brutal pitch and no dressing rooms..
Best of luck to shannonside and broadford in the league cup and desmond cup finals.should be cracker of games..

Fair enough last man, long time alright since I was there but I'm still glad Carrig and Kileaney came up. As for Kildimo, shocking pitch and away team togs off in cars on side of the road while they tog off in the local hall or whatever it is. That day is gone. Good riddance Kildimo....

Get a grip draper. teams are there on merit not facilities. All the big clubs in limerick and tipp have no problem togging of on the side of the road if needs may be. have abit of respect for other clubs in your own league.

Your respect is hard earned draper, i have seen my own local rural club build dressing rooms, floodlight astro and develop 2 pitches in past 10 or so years but would never hear any of them speak down on a fellow club like you do. equally passionate clubmen at clubs with zero facilities that keep them clubs going in tough circumstances as there are at all your model clubs. some clubs are only on the go less than 20 years or so its difficult to have gaa club type facilities in that limited timeframe

And your quite right, in a lot of cases its only in the last 20 years that Soccer clubs have really emerged so hats off to them....

Shannonside were excellent last night and obviously fully deserved their victory, but having seen both teams a few times over the last number of weeks I think Broadford were poor by their standards. Power & Behan played very well. Friday's cup final should be an absolute cracker now! Any predictions?

God that was a bit of a shock of a result for broadford..
I cant see why people would think this is a shock, When everyone is fit Shannonside have the best team in the league by a country mile, they have just been plagued by injuries this year. That result last night could have been 7 - 0 and to be honest I would expect a similar result next Fri. Broadford have been over hyped all year and last night they were shown up bigtime

i would of held back on that comment till after desmond cup final next weekend. you dont want to be giving the opposition extra incentives to be up for it next weekend. well done to shannonside though 4-0 was a great win. should be alot tighter game saturday night though

Nobody is giving anybody incentives. I just couldnt believe that people were writing off Shannonside in favour of Broadford. You would struggle to put more than three Broadford players on the Shannonside team. And another thing, Its absolute disgrace that Ray Lynch was picked ahead of Daniel Power for player of the year, If I had a choice between the two I know who I would pick every day of the week, and after last night Im sure anyone with a football brain would do the same

Eoin O Connor was the best player on the park
Is this the same Broadford who ran away with the premier league?
Their record in the league would suggest it was an off night. Losing 2 league games all season and averaging over 3 goals a game is an incredible achievement.
Not to mention being 13 points clear of their nearest rivals.
Also what happened to Abbeyfeale this season?
From Premier champs to a painfully average side in the space of a season

I don't think anybody can argue that Broadford have been the best team in the Desmond league this season. IMO last night Broadford were below par while Shannonside just had 1 of those nights that everyone played very well. I still think Broadford will turn the tables Friday night.
Would be interesting to see what Draper thinks

There is no doubt that broadford have been the best team in the league this year by far..maybe shannonside had one of those great nights but lads in fairness shannonside are not a bad team.they are a right good team.as I said earlier I wasn't at the game but maybe shannonside were just too good for broadford on the night..and you never know it might happen again this Friday night...

Would be interesting to see what Draper thinksShannonside were the better team on the night simple as that. Behan is excellent, so difficult to deal with every time. They are a bit of a bogey side for us to be honest, they've beaten us now the last 7 times in a row spanning 3 seasons and 2 league cup finals. We made what we thaught were 2 big subtitutions at halftime taking off the 2 front men but to no avail. Big game now Friday....

lads broadford didnt become a bad team overnite, they didnt play as good as they can and these things happen in finals especially.i know from past experience that are a very good team and things just didnt work for them that nite whereas everything went right for shannonside and it was grt and all to be partly ivolved in the victory, but you can be sure that fri nite will be a totally different game, the pressure is on now as both teams, they have a cup each and this is now the final trophy for the season so id say it will be a cracker of a match between two very even teams, shannonside have had avery poor start to season but in last few months they have turned it round and broadford have had a great season so far getting as far as they did in fai and munster junior and i no that both teams get on well so may the best team win on the nite and hopefully it will live up to all the hype that seems to be going with it
