Shannonside = 1 Cup Final - 1 win. They are the stats that will be remembered. Won 4 0 in that final, similar result likely Friday night

Lads i don't think Leon is a shannonside man anyway, he would be stupid if he was, i think he is rising alot of ye here!!! Broadford are a top team and so are shannonside, it will be tighter this friday i presume, should be a cracker.

Still havent come back with the answer and if the winners of the divisional league cup are remembered ahead of the winners of the premier league title in years to come it will only only be in your head.Looking forward to the game on Friday evening.;)

hulk is right ,there is no way leon is a shannonside man ,we wouldnt b stirring the thing with broadford ,why would you give a very good team like broadford an even bigger incentive to beat you wen they are plenty capable in doing that all ready.as far as i no im the only shannonside person on this so nt sure why this person has a bit of a set on the broadford team

It should be a great final tonight, following Sunday's result probably the most interesting final in resent seasons. Add in the bit of banter from here which I'm sure both teams have seen. Hard to predict but I'll go for 3 - 1 Broadford, they will be better prepared tonight, maybe they were a little complacent last weekend. Predictions lads?

Yeah, I would agree, I fancy broadford tonight, it's very hard to win two finals and I think they will be better prepared tonight, their injuries won't help though and shannonside could capitalise on them not being at full strength

Hard to call now that Shannonside beat them so well last week, Broadford may need to score more than 1 to win this one so I'll go for Shannonside again, purley based on the fact that Broadford's keeper is by far their weakest link so I can see Shannonside getting a couple tonight

Very tight game last night which was to be expected,no real flowing football & hardly a chance in the whole game. Both teams cancelled each other out with some strong challenges going in, particularly a few on Power which seemed to be a Broadford tactic early on and 1 of these could have easily resulted in a red for the Broadford right back.Overall Broadford probably shaded it while neither side did enough to win it and I feel it will take something special to seperate these two very evenly matched teams next Friday, and might even go all the way to penaltys.

[QUOTE=luisevra;1599163]Any thoughts on Fridays final Leon?

Don't draw him on us again luisevra. He said alot of stuff last week to rile Broadford and as far as I know he's not even a Shannonside man.
It was a poor game though. Wonder did the heat and the hard work of the previous Sunday take its toll on the Shannonside boys? Suppose this time they have a 7 day recovery so that will help them. Will be another close one I'd say, probably will be a 1 nil game, with a mistake or a bit of class to separate the sides. Anyhow best of luck to both sides this Friday,

Agreed. This has been a long season and for these two clubs the end is in sight.I think Friday evening will be close and I could see it going beyond the 90 minutes.Broadford to shade it.

I find it hard to disagree with leon on this, as I said earlier a few of the early challenges, particularly on Power were over the top. As for a prediction, Broadford but only just may even go all the way to penaltys as both teams will know each other so well now, very hard to call, but hopefully it will be a better game for the neutrals.

I think it will go to pens BoyBlue and for Broadford to win.

hopefully fridays replay will be better than last weekends game...thought there would be more in the crowd.. glad to see they lowered the price from 10 quid to 8 quid..some of the tackles on daniel power were very bad..one of them in my opinion should have been a sending off..hopefully more people will turn up and see both teams battle it out for the cup..im gonna say all the way to penalties and anyone of the teams to win it..best of luck to both sides

As another season ends i've heard a number of clubs will be looking for a new manager over the summer. As the season spans 10 months of the year I can see clubs struggling to get someone in place i think the league need to look at this in the coming seasons before it becomes a bigger problem and paying managers will become the norm. Anyone agree/disagree ?

I think in the current climate and taking into account the length of the season, paying a manager is probably expected now especially if the man you want is not affiliated with your club.
If thats the way it has to be then I would have no objection. We all know it has already been done in this league.
It adds a bit of spice to it anyway, puts things up another level
The GAA do it at club level and they say its not allowed, so its fair game obviously
Depends on who you want, if you offered €15K a year you could have anyone you wanted I reckon

How many clubs in the desmond league you think are able to afford to pay a manager?? Most clubs are barely balancing the books every year to be able to keep the club running as it is!
Alot of clubs have to do fund raising events to be able to pay for equipment/referess/physio and doctor bills... if you were to start paying managers, you'd see alot of teams going under!

Unfortunaley being a manager in the desmond league is a thankless job usually, and people often take a good manager for granted!
But I don't see it as a possiblity for clubs to pay managers until there is more support for clubs from the FAI for funding and development.

Not many, but Abbey and NCW both did a couple of seasons ago, there is at least another one or two that paid expenses (to players too).
And I agree that 95% cant even pay the ref without players contributing.
It will never happen in the desmond league, not while all clubs are competing with the GAA for local support.
My point is that I have no objection to any club doing it if they can, plus it adds another dimension to the whole thing.
No club would go under just because another club is paying a manager, players win trophies no matter how good a manager they have, and players in this league are for the most part fairly loyal to their local team, mabey it would be different if they were closer to each other.

congratulations to shannonside fc on winning the league cup and tonights desmond cup final. nothing separating the sides really but it had to take something special and eoin o connors free kick was unreal..thought broadford were the better team..the broadford goalie pulled off some great saves in the first half..i hope mike clancy is ok after he was down for like 7minutes..
Mikeys' on crutches but will be fine. Good to see Anthony Mulvihill back tonight as well after his nasty bang last week...

I thought it would take something special to seperate 2 very evenly matched teams and that's exactly what we got last night, brilliant goal from O'Connor good enough to win any cup final.Mostly stop start due to the amount of free kicks probably suited shannonside better once they got ahead, and broadford didn't really create a clear cut chance in the 2nd half.well done to shannonside on their 2 cup wins,I don't think many gave them a chance! Good news that Clancy & mulvihill are both ok following injuries in the 2 games.
Now that the season is over let the rumor mill start, gets worse every summer.
