This is the pun thread, Diggs. Keep up. :)

Sorry just out of a meeting, I should have known something was fishy

I thought he could have formed a good understanding with Drinkwater if they’d played together.

Imagine they'd be competing for the same spot.

Conor Sammon scored for Falkirk tonight - back of the net

(just wanted to get in before Pineapple Stu)

And once again Tets proves himself to be devoid of a sense of humour.

Some people like puns, you don't. Get over it. I would have thought that anything that got people posting on an increasingly quiet site would be welcome. Clearly not. I give this post 15 minutes...

He didn't even follow his own unilaterally imposed rule. Ask me balls.

I have asked before, where in the rules does it prevent the use of puns (good or bad ones). Hint, it doesn't.

Fun sponge.

I have posted for a resolve to this on the support page.

I was about to make a Scales and Sammon pun but then I read the rest of the thread.....(and couldn't think of one good enough to risk the ban)

Sounds like it should be as easy as shooting fish in a barrel, doesn't it?

Given our other thread this isn't the time or plaice to be talking about shooting anything Stu.....

Good to see Sammon making waves by finding the net against Scales' Celtic. A fine fin-ish. He'll be angling for a move after this. Despite the late scare Celtic are let off the hook.

I’m not going to rise to the bait on this one.

Mon the Sammo! Sixth goal of the season for Alloa today.

May be the final time? 36 in November; not sure if he'll have another season in him

Leaps to the top of the "Irish in Britain" goalscoring charts by netting a hat trick away to Buckie Thistle in the League Cup.

He's always been a tad polearizing so I can't seeing Kenny casting the net as far as him.

It's going to be devastating for a few posters here when this lad retires. Just as well that Will Fish lad that got sent off today for Man United isn't Irish or we'd have another 10 years of it coming up.

He could go into coaching yet. I can't imagine him being a fish out of water there. Floundering about, as it were.

Agree, this thread is undermining the seriousness of the forum as a space for intelligent debate and exchange - this is not a plaice for levity.

Was a game against Cork in 2007 that he got dubbed that I think.

A brace yesterday and he's up to 13 for the season.

Leading Irish scorer in the English/Scottish leagues I think? Highest tally for a season since his breakthrough season at Kilmarnock, when he had 18 by this time (and then moved to Wigan in the Premier League)

A great servant who’s had more than his fair share of stick. I’ll back him to be the leading Irish scorer this season. (It’s in there somewhere, a bit forced, but an original)

One last time maybe?

Mon the Sammo!

93rd minute winner to all but confirm Alloa's playoff spot. Sixteenth of the season; only McGoldrick at Derby has outscored him among the Irish players in Britain this season I think. Which says a lot about our forward options at the moment

On the other hand, Evan Ferguson has scored five times as many EPL goals in the last three-and-a half months as Sammon did in his entire career.

It looks like Donnie Yen in the white, but I can't place it. Oh, and Sammo Hung in the black. His Martial Law series in the late 90s was probably the first time I watched a lot of kung fu.

I found the fight, but no context! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEBC_XL8HRk

Oh, it's Ip Man 2.

Sammon wasn't quite at the level we needed for Ireland, but he should be celebrated as a good example of someone staying in Ireland, finishing a proper education, and still achieving a good footballing career.
