I suppose so.
One point behind in the league with a game in hand, into the Munster Junior Cup final and semi's of the Munster Senior Cup.
The club is trying to locate the root cause of the problem but, it would seem, without any success !!!
However, Michaels do enter the game as hot favourites and they will be confident of beating the holders given their form this season.

Important result in the First Division League to-night - St.Michaels 'B' 2, St.Nicholas 1. It means Rosegreen Rangers are relegated with Kilmanahan. It also means Moyglass are still in the promotion race and will pip St.Nicholas if they win their remaining 4 games. St.Michaels had a strong team to-night which included some youth players while St.Nicholas were very understrength.

Disfraceful carry on from St Nicholas and very tough on Rosegreen. If i was in charge i would relegate St Nicholas and keep Rosegreen up.

Heard from a very good source that once St Nicholas could not win league it was decided by the Club that they would put out weak teams and try not to be promoted , they went to Old Bridge with only 10 players!!
This all goes back to the problem stated in this forum months ago that there is not enough football for a rural club in the Premier and most if not all would prefer to stay in 1st division and have 3 good chances of winning silverware each season.
Even a town team like Cahir have been finished now for nearly 3 months!!

Yep disgraceful carry on from St.Nicholas they have openly said they do not want to go up cause they don't want to get hammered week in week out and they wouldn't have the team through the whole season. Game against Old Bridge last weekend was a farce only had 10 players and then finished with 9 lads as one lad went off injured. It was just a mess game it was terrible.
Old Bridge are kicking themselves now for not getting results earlier in season as they would have easily been promoted, after winning last 4 out of last 5 league games, late run is no good now.

ya greenlane08, in my earlier post i mentioned just harsh on rosegreen but also i should say on every other team in the divison (as looking at the league, it is tight the whole way through from 3rd to 6th with the 3 at the bottom at bit off)
I was at there game against borris and they had a very strong 11 along with introducing subs. No doubt they will all be back and ready for the shield final whilst praying moyglass can pick up the required points at the same time.

To be honest footballfanatic the only thing harsh on Rosegreen is the fact that after being unbeaten for the first 7 games they went on to lose 7 or 8 games on the trot. They have only won two games in the league all season so i don't think that they can blame anybody but themselves. And to be honest they probably wouldn't have won there last game anyway. Look at St. Michaels B last week against Ballingarry. They didn't have a team going down there so they never had any fear of getting relegated. I was at the match last night and Michaels got the winner late on. St. Nicholas had a few good chances to score more so i don't think that they deliberately went out to lose the match. They were missing quite a few regulars though. And i doubt if Moyglass will win there remaining 4 matches to get promoted. At least it gives them something to play for. All remaining games would have been pointless if nicholas had won last night.

They are out but only select few seem to know who they are. Typical referees - they notify their favourites and the rest will be drip fed later. The selection process is a joke anyway. Some referees see a player once or twice and they select on that basis. Down through the years I have seen several fine players who were ever-present on their team and no booking, yet never got a nomination. I recall three players who played in the TSDL for up to 20 years week after week but never recognised (all three were defenders). Anyway, rant over. Hopefully they will filter to us on Foot.ie eventually.

Chris Higgins I heard got the nod for St. Michaels for nomination for Player of the Year and a St. Michaels Youth Player also got nominated. I didnt anymore about it to be honest. Heard it this morning. You are completely correct in what you are saying. If a certain player was let's say robust on the pitch or was inclined to give cheek to a Referee, a player like that would never get nominated. Speaking in regard to St. Michaels players, several players especially Defenders, spring to mind, over the past 10 to 12 years in particular who never got a mention!

Ya i see what ya mean addict but Nicholas were very close to winning the league, just because that is gone does it mean you dont want to go up? If they had to win the league, they would be playin premier league. I just dont understand a team been happy below when they could go higher, at least try it. They have savage facilities, should be wanting to show them off in my oppinion.

Yea, judging from reading this week in week out, i would say Jim carr will get POTY but i havent seen him much of him myself bar the odd time. He always seems to be the man that produces the win though.

I think Addict has summed it up well. In fact the St.Michaels goalkeeper made two marvellous saves late on to deny St.Nicholas. I can understand St.Nicholas fear of going up. They were in the Premier a few seasons ago and it was a nightmare for them. They almost went out of football, gave two walk-overs and were the whipping boys for the rest. They are a small family club with excellent facilities but short on players. They don't go out like the big guns to draw in players - almost all, if not all, are from the Solohead area. The first division is right within their comfort zone. Chances are they will still finish runners-up but if I was associated with the club I would hope only one goes up.

Yes, I think you are correct. I was in Tipp Town to-day and while many were ''celebrating'' big time, I was told the winning Munster Junior Cup players were on minimal celebration. I went out for a few drinks last night and asked where was the cup but was told it was where the winning players were - in bed.

Think someone was pulling your leg nononsense most of the team were in a certain well known Saints pub in town from 8am Sunday and 1 or 2 of them had to be carried home during the evening.. These are Amateur Soccer players not a Premiership squad and can not be expected to just (go to bed) after winning a Munster Junior Cup!! Fair play to them and Pike will have to up their game from the last encounter to beat them in FAI. Heard both teams refused to toss coin to decide who had Home Advantage for Final (
(Cahir Park or Jackman Park) so game going to Turners Cross.

Damn it, they avoided me so. Will they be sober by Wednesday night I wonder. Didn't think there was any discussion on venue for F.A.I. final - it was always going to be Turners Cross. Heard the F.A.I. tossed to decide who would wear green and white colours and St.Michaels won the toss so they will be in their traditional colours.

I see the poty nominations are up on the website, suprised by some of them in the premier division, i thought jim carr and paul breen would have been nominated but i suppose maybe they didnt want 3 from the one club all nominated. Chris higgins, ritchie ryan and sean o hara are the 3 nominations.
I reckon higgins will get it anyway due to the year michaels are havin and him also getting his international cap.

Noelie bourke, michael ivors and emmet ryan are the division 1 nominations...i think noelie might get this as he has had an outstanding season ,23 goals this year. He been in serious form all season.

First Division Shield Final: Borris 2, St.Nicholas 2. Borris won on penalties. Good game, Borris led 2-0 with less than 15 minutes to go. St.Nicholas staged a marvellous comeback, hitting the equaliser on the stroke of fulltime. St.Nicholas missed their first two penalties - Borris missed none.

Great season from borris though, league and shield champions. Lovely jubbly.

At least they are showing a bit of variety this year. Usually they settle on poaching players from Celtic but that well seems to have run dry now with some of the 'traffic' going in the opposite direction with reports of a number of Town players hoping to join Celtic next year. Makes a nice change:act-up:

I'm obviously showing my years, as Celtic (and St Oliver's before them) always seemed to lose their better players to Town. This trend has ceased to a large extent in recent years with players going in the opposite direction. All the players you listed have moved to Celtic within the last 2 to 3 years.

Cant see Town getting any result tonight. Good Players have left, Adrian Cleere, Michael Quinlivan, Smurf and Barnes was all but thrown out of the club and will never play for Town. I know and like Jamie O'Flaherty but I think he has messed things up. That said the problems were also there last year and how we got as far as we did in both of the big cups is a mystery. Roberto is correct, all of Towns best young players are going to Celtic. Town is an old team and I cannot see them challenging for a good number of seasons. Raymie and Tony Davis will retire after tonight. Stephen Ryan is going back to Celtic. Richie Ryan is going to either Pike or Fariview. Evan Maguire is on his way to Celtic, along with Barnes. Barry Ryan and Derek Loughnanne will leave as well. I don’t know where Town are going to get the players. The club at junior level is in big, big trouble. Jamie or whoever is manager will have to go very far to find players and who is going to come to a club on the slide. Yes we are doing well at schoolboy level but beyond that we are a disaster. Where are all the good youth players from the last few seasons gone??
The warning signs were there a long time ago but it was never addressed. For me it started when Charlie left. Blossom got the best out of an average team. Then we had the whole fiasco with "Mr Tipp FM" Muiris Walsh leaving (to further his career in radio!!) and the fallout from that. I am sure he will be up there tonight shouting for his new friends in St Michaels. We seem to be going from one crisis to another. As I say I know Jamie and I think he did a wonderful job with the youths but I hope he is not out of his depth here. He seems to have upset a number of players, also we never had a consistent team out on the field. The system we played didn't work and was confusing. However, he is a great guy and his heart is in the right place and I really hope it works out for him. As a Town Fan and for Jamie's sake I would love to get a win tonight but I just cannot see it. Michaels to win 2-0
