Imagine anyone having a different opinion to you, expessing it.

Well it would be quite funny given the amount of gurning about their British 'identity', I've always encountered from large sections of your fanbase. Though to be fair, not most of the people on here.

If it happens, don't say we didn't offer....
;)

Thanks...choice is a wonderful thing.;)

Nope not that at all.

You are the one who said that north fans are worried about their team 'disappearing', I pointed out that this argument holds no water, then you respond by telling me to let it go!!

I repeat this again, I am not interested in one team on the island at present, i believe that we already have that to an extent. You can keep your team, however you would need to examine your small man syndrome which is so prevalent in all your posts.

Thanks for allowing us to keep our team.:)

Nothing "small man" about it - just a proud, patriotic, Northern Ireland, fan.

Should I apologise for that?

I notice, that rather than deal with the substantive issues in the discussion, and pertinent questions asked, you play the man...rather than the ball.

quit with your obviously trolling posts ardeebhoy. your disdain is quite plain for all to see and your arguments as weak as dishwater, yet most are veering toward insults.
either set aside your prejudice and use of mythical stereotypes and make a reasonable argument or give posting a miss altogether.

Wouldn't work. Let the bigots have their own team.

I would think the evidence suggests bigots exist in both team's support.

How's about, live and let live.

Perhaps, when Northern Ireland fans (supporters of Portadown FC) are at your next love in, you'll be so brave as to tell them they're bigots for being Northern Ireland fans.

What's this nonsense about man and ball? you were proved to be talking absolute codswallop and you try and beaver your way out of it?!

I think i made my point abundantly clear in the last post.

Now enough of your trolling!

Yes, I have disdain for Northern bigots in my own country, who I've encountered often with their own prejudiced opinions about Irish people or Catholics, without them knowing my own opinions or sympathies. So I do speak from some experience.

And hence my 'prejudice', whilst 'stereotypes' can hardly apply when it relates to a minority(?) of hard-core unionists, which unsurprisingly taint a wider view.

Should add these are more 'tongue-in-cheek', when used by me to describe the wider unionist community, though they never fail to surprise me with their, er, siege mentality.
Be it their football team, some pointless march or some other superfluous aspect of their culture.

So please be mindful why people have reservations. And why I for one feel 'insulted'.

One of the main reasons I'm against a merger is because there's no one in the NI team I want in our team. And we'd be on pressure to play some NI players, who aren't up to it.

Such a merger doesn't do any good for either country, and we've both come close to qualifying this time around so we don't need it anyway.

Sure next time they go into one about an Orange march or about how wonderful UJ's are, I'll tell them to leave out the 'snide comments', which I'm guessing won't go too well. As it's on 'their' territory.

And whilst yer on about other boards or mods, there's not a chance we can have this 'debate' on one emenating from that side, such is their intolerance. As for 'constant twisted insults', did say it was mainly 'tongue-in-cheek', but you only choose to define the truth by your own warped criteria?

Just curious - stats wise does this count as a win or a draw?

The FIFA website has it down as 1:1 (aet) (0-1; 0-1) so I think that means we won the game in 90 minutes (just as they won on Saturday) but the overall result was France won on aggregate.

In GAA world extra-time is regarded as a new match but it's not as clear cut in football heaven.

No doubt we'd get more out of it, two players who want to play v a guy who won't even allow us to put him in the squad. Btw McGinn and McCourt are pretty handy players, could become vital in the coming years
