That youths game must have been a cracker!!!!!!

I was at the youths game and it was very entertaining. At half time with NCW leading 2-0 it looked done and dusted. Ballingarry got a goal back on 46 mins but NCW replied immediately. Ballingarry eventually got level at 3-3 but NCW took the lead again only for Ballingarry to level in added time. NCW won the game in the 2nd period of E.T. Tony Quaid got Man of the Match deservedly so and the trophy. Well done to both teams for a cracker. Pity that the attendance was so small. As they meet again in the Youths final hopefully the crowd will be bigger as it could be another cracker. Unfortunately I don't know the scorers names.

Hogan Cup Final
Kilcolman Rovers 0 Rockhill Rovers 1
Lacklustre game in which Paddy Kelly scored the onlygoal midway through the first half. Lots of endeavour from both sides and the only real excitement in the last 10 mins when the game got stretched a bit. Kelly missed great chance to wrap it up and Kilcolman forced Charlie O'Shea into a fine save at the end. Not a bad crowd tonight. Paddy Kelly got Man OF The Match award.

Probably one of the worst games I've ever been at. Both teams just lumping the ball up and down the pitch.

Broadfords Johnny Shannahan clean through, upended in the area by the keeper, ref points to the spot. My question is, where is it in the rulebook that the keeper gets only a yellow card? There was nobody else back....Broadford even missed the penalty, but did eventualy win out 5:2

Since then I have spoken to a stalwart NCW man who was at the match who claims that you definitely handled the ball but that he thought that the ball was not going in and the red card was harsh. Also none of your team mates made a big deal of the penalty, so I'm told. As an ex player who played most of his football in other leagues I must admit that the standard of referees in the Desmond league is very good by comparison. The FAI Junior Cup Final was reffed by Desmond officials and they got great appreciation. I remember going to away games and getting screwed with dodgy refereeing. Maybe you need to reconsider your assessment in general as i know from experience that there are far worse officials in other leagues albeit I stopped playing 15 years ago.

Where in the rule book does it say it must be a red card? was it a clear goal scoring oppertunity>

It is in the rulebook Yorkshire rose, that a red card follows such an offence, along with a penalty, but shur what harm, at least Broadford ended up winning but there was such a sense of injustice when he saved it when he should have been off the field...

well maybe the person you were speaking to is blind or something cause i didnt handle and the ball def was not going in and was harsh.none of the player made a big deal of it u were told??? well i dunno about that..there are maybe few good refs in the league like the ones that did the fai junior cup final but the others are crap..i wont name them out but everyone knows who they are..dunno bout other officials from other league but they got some crazy officials in the clare league

I have to agree with your assessment of the game. Thats probably about right. If Carrig had gotten one of them pens before Newcastle scored it could have been interesting. Not the strongest of Newcastle teams i have seen. Badly missing the good players that left them last summer.

I didnt say they had none of their good players left, 'Have it' said they are badly missing their good players that left in the summer, and I was just stating that it has happened to other clubs too in the past. They still have good players at the club.
Most of the top players in the desmond league (if not all) go to town sooner or later, it just happened to Rathkeale first

Ya id agree with you so. Good players gone but i went to see their youth team playing the cup final last week and what real talent they have. Quilligan and Quaid were in the middle of midfield and im not messing it was like xavi and iniesta. They were superb playing the ball around the field. Young Shanahan up front has serious potential hopefully someone may give him a real chance.

This weekend will tell alot alright, I cant see Rathkeale getting any kind of result off NCW, I cant see Rathkeale getting 3 wins from Broadford and Abbeyfeale matches, they might get 2 out of 3, and I can see NCW winning all their remaining matches, thus NCW champions come June and Abbey for Desmond Cup if they get the finger out

Draw against Newcastle wouldn't be a bad result at all. I'd back Rathkeale to take the league this season. Granted they have tough games left but they have shown good consistency and resilience this year.

This weekend will tell alot alright, I cant see Rathkeale getting any kind of result of NCW, I cant see Rathkeale getting 3 wins from Broadford and Abbeyfeale matches, they might get 2 out of 3, and I can see NCW winning all their remaining matches, thus NCW champions come June and Abbey for Desmond Cup if they get the finger out

You could be right, but hopefully your analysis is wrong, I get the feeling ye are all rooting for Newcastle, how times have changed. Its better being the underdog anyway.
it would be nice to see Abbey win the cup, it would be money well spent

If NCW win the league wont the money they spent on Tommy Lynch be money well spent as well. Up to a few months ago I was hoping that Rathkeale would walk the league, but because of the mouthing a few of their lads were at during a few of their matches I now hope NCW pip them and I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE.

I take it you were not in Rathkeale so Sunday morning when a few NCW players were there shouting on Shannonside thats what i call good sports manship alright. I can not write what i think of NCW and they way they carry on at matches and have done in the past.

I go to alot of matches and that goes on everywhere, we have been on the recieving end of some fair s**t at other grounds this year. You better not take a trip into town to watch a game or you will be horrified

Well they were hardly going to go to yere match and support ye when they are trying to win the league themselves. I cant see anything wrong with them hoping that ye drop points to help them win the league.

Hand on my heart, i can safely say that Rathkeale was by far and away the worst at it that I have seen this year. Maybe the young lads in NCW are a bit cheeky but I'll get over that
