Just looking at the Desmond League Oscar Traynor panel and looking at the Premier Division Table. How come Askeaton have no players on it? Did they not beat Rathkeale a few weeks ago? Also how come Shannonside who are looking like being relegated have so many on it? Just wondering if anyone here knows has any ideas on it, just found it strange when i seen the panel in the Local Observer.
i think that statement is false and is an insult to kildimo as a footballing side, if you ever saw them play away from home, you would see they play better.
thats my own expierence.

Season 2007/2008
Were they a ''good footballing side'' then as well One win out of 18 games. They didnt play too well away from home back then. The insult is to good football by putting it in the same sentence as Kildimo. I think my point is well and truly proven. They are rubbish. Im just going to put it out there, Would there be any chance that you actually play for Kildimo yourself?

Sure Kildimo only ever have the bare eleven, so it looks like he plays, so we have it down to one of eleven already. I think its time for him to do the honourable thing and come clean

You have some involvement with Askeaton do you Ask Me Tom? I hear ye are very sour down there having no one on the Desmond League panel? Im not trying to rise you no or anything, but four or five from Shannonside and Rathkeale it is hard to believe really. Ye might be better off without the distraction!!

The reason why there is no one on from Askeaton is they were asked but never turned up. there are only 3 from Shannonside and if you are really getting into it there are 6 from Rathkeale. If players dont bother turning up for the Oscar traynor you have to pick players then that are interested.:ball:

Maybe only the 2nd time the forum has been interestin all season, at least Kildimo are an interestin topic of conversation anyway!! I don't think many of their players like to play on that pitch either, but they're 'stuck' with it. Not a bad side IMO, not world beaters either tho...

Don`t think anyone at the club is sour over having no players on the Desmond league squad, Maurice Carrig was asked but didn`t go because he was leaving for Australia. To be honest with you I don`t think there is any benifit to having players on the squad so I don`t see it as a problem having no players on it.

There was 4 Shannonside players on the origional squad, probably 2 deserving of a place.

Glin have the county football final next week I think, so it`ll be a big ask for them to beat Castleisland. I think Broadford and Shannonside will be very tight.

Ya I thought Shannonside would challenge this year especially when they were finished with the GAA so early. Are they missing a few or what kind of team have they?

They're a pretty good side but i do't think its helping them that they have to play in the hell hole that is Borrigone. A farmers field would be better than that thing.

Rovers have a tough fixture against Rineanna, they seem to be a decent side. Rathkeale are hurling again this Sunday, and glin are out in the football so it will be tough for them missing players. Newcastle West and Abbey should be ok.
In the league Askeaton will see off Ballingarry and I will go for a draw in Broadford

At least it was flat sky blue, and the point I`m making and have made on this thread before is that with all the grants given out over the last few years a club in the league as long as Foynes could and should have developed facilities.

It's a pity that Rathkeale and Glin wont have thier strongest eleven due to other commitments this wekend but thats the story every year....
Whats up with Ballingarry this year? they should have a decent side and not be bottom of the league, I know there is a long season ahead, but it would be sad to loose them to the first Division with their excellent facilities.

It will be a shame alright because the FAI is a great competition but they will have to drive on regardless. The bad weather might put it on the back burner this weekend
Ballingarry are struggling and it looks like that bit of luck has deserted them, which can happen in this game. Denis Kelly is a huge loss to them to be fair, he got alot of goals for them over the seasons. Thats what looks to be the problem there. Long way to go yet but it looks bleak for them at the moment.

Hard to see any matches being played this weekend. I would see all matches being called off early saturday. Pointless wrecking pitches so early in the season! Why dont the shannonside matches be played in Shanagolden, It is miles better, and sure aren't most of there players from Shanagolden. Its a no Brainer to me anyway.
