Any details of the Rathkeale Southend match?
Rathkeale scored first goalkeeping error. Southend equalised following a good move. 1-1 H.T. Southend took lead in second half with long range free-kick powerful shot that deceived the keeper. Rathkeale rallied and equalised with about 12mins remaining. No further score so finished 2-2. Southend won the game with a penalty (handball) in the first period of extra time. Hard luck on Rathkeale who tried hard and possibly unfortunate not to get to penalty kicks.

True, And he didnt exactly set the world alight in his stint with Carew Park. Doubt they'd sack him at this stage of the season though

League Cup was a great way to warm up for the new season for many clubs when played before the League actually started. I remember when this was a two legged competition.

Agree totally. Maybe it was devalued a little bit by teams experimenting and finding form but it made it open and exciting. Maybe this option could be looked at again or someone might know why this format was scrapped ?

Abbeyfeale were two up at half time away to Rovers, by all accounts the Rovers equalizer was a fantastic effort from distance.
Shannonside won on pens at home to Glin but in reality Shannonside played their opponents off the park and no way should the game have gone to extra time let alone pens, snow was brilliant for the homeside and gave the Glin defence a torrid time all thru.
Broadford led 3-0 at one stage in this game, Hurley got one of the goals for Newcastle

A bad report of the game if i heard one!! Shannonside had two very good chances in the first half moo fitz hit the chances straight at the glin goalie!! glin had two very good chances in the second half john kelliher missed a header at the end!! snow did very well took his penalty extremly well!! the glin goalie saved two penos aswell!! and the offside goal was definately offside as kavanagh was on the goal line when snow kick the ball towards the net kavanagh was greedy and tipped it in!! the ref liam o ' connor (o@connor) is a complete joke!! he loves the sound of his own voice and awarded the first booking of the game to a glin player as the shannonside management called it!! "yere getting away with it every sunday" Liam O'Connor's quote to a glin player on the pitch!how can O'Connor ref the game if he says such things like this!! and he's down to ref askeaton versus glin sunday!

I,m sure that Broadford and Shannonside are glad that the League Cup is knockout as they would have struggled to get to the final if the games were played in August/Sept. as they are two of the best senior GAA sides in the county. Having said that they should produce a good final as they both try to play attractive football.

How on earth can a club like Askeaton give a walkover in a youths cup semi? Have the youths any interest or pride in playing for their clubs? Way back when I was playing, players would fight to get in a final. I can see why the Desmond Youths team wound up with 13 players at a q/f in the Oscar Traynor. They think only of themselves, shame on them, they don't deserve respect 'cos they do nothing to earn it.

Convienent?? Are you joking me. Were due to play Kilcolman in the cup but no ref available, how is that anything to do with Rathkeale. If you knew anything the hurling dosent affect us that much, if at all. We wanted to play the game and Kilcolman were missing players too, I was talking to one of them yesterday. So if anything it was convienent to them

So ye were missing no one so yesterday, because I was led to believe that ye were depending on a number of minors to make up a team, so YES it was convenient that for the second week in a row ye had no match when Rathkeale were playing hurling. Maybe Abbey, Shannonside, Broadford and Askeaton should look for the same privileges next season.

3 players, only 1 starter.........Did you not understand what I said, THERE WAS NO REF AVAILABLE. What do you do about that??? Talk to the desmond league.
The first week we had it booked off, like Shannonside have next weekend, and broadford the week after. No mystery there.
What ever source told you we were depending on minors I dont know, but there are some deadly players on that team so its a pity the game didnt go ahead yesterday.

What you on about lad its convenient that Drom/Broadford were playing gaa yeasterday too and Ye had no game. I can recall when Drom/Broadford were going well last year in the munster championship ye had free sunday after free Sunday. Ye are in for a free Sunday week after next too if i am not mistaken. If a town like Rathkeale can not go and support its local team in an all- Ireland final and every other sport to be cancelled on the day so they can be supported there is something seriously wrong. I am sure a person like you that comes from such a sporting Parish can understand this. Its bad enough the league have issues besides Broadford having them as well....

Played Ballingarry in Ballingarry the day of the Nemo match, played Killeaney in Killeaney the day of the Munster Final so that free Sunday after free Sunday comment is rubbish. Ive no problem with ye having the two Sundays off, but each team should then be afforded the same opportunity. As for the free Sunday next week. That has been booked off for 2 months. Its in Broadfords interest now to get their season over as fast as possible I'm sure you will agree.

This is ridiculous, We had a free Sunday booked for the Hurling final 2 weeks ago, which every team IS entitled to as you know... no ref was available last Sunday, so that, (as you keep trying to insinuate), has nothing to do with us .... and it wasnt a league game so no advantage gained i think you will agree.
Now can we move on, because judging from some of your previous posts, you do occassionally have something worth while to say about the game. This dead horse has now been well and truly flogged !!!!

Apology accepted, I cant understand how the Newcastle players didn't know because the two lads who told me both have nothing to do with NCW, so if they knew I presume the players, or at least some of the players must have known that Sunday was his last game
