I still think Scotland could win their 2 games so I won't be counting them out. Holland have nothing to play for. Scotland are from the 2 western islands that tend to play above themselves in these games.
Scotland have Netherlands (0 points) and Macedonia (3 points) to go.
Should finish on 10.
Macedonia have Scotland and Norway away and so won't finish any higher than Scotland.
Norway have Macedonia (3 points) and Iceland (3 points) to go. Should finish on 12.
So 13 points should do us (same thing I said a couple of months back!), still a big ask.

Holland have set the target to get maximum points in this qual campaign.
They will not be taking the foot of the pedal.
Scotland will even struggle to beat Macedonia.
Burley is a dead man walking.
Norway to drop 2 points in Iceland.
Ireland will only need 4 points to keep ahead of group 9 2nd place.
Scotland are at home though aren't they? I reckon they will overcome macedonia, but struggle against holland, however I see macedonia giving Norway problems.

Not sure I understand that surely everyone does that....doesn't mean you dont take your foot off the gas when you know you are already qualified

But, lets face it, Ireland probably need 5 more points to get second place anyway. What last night's result did for us was substantially lower the risk that if we finish second we'll be the worst runner up. I think that is quite unlikely now.
Plus, group 9 finishes earlier than the rest, in september, so we'll know beforehand how many points we need to get to be sure.
Results to cheer on tonight
Hungary v Sweden - Draw
Denmark v Portugal - Denmark
Poland v N.Ireland - Draw
Slovakia v Czech - Slovakia
Armenia v Bosnia - Armenia, draw ok
Turkey v Estonia - Estonia, draw ok
Spain v Belgium - Spain or draw
Ukraine v Andorra - Andorra, or draw..
Croatia v Belarus - Belarus or draw
France v Romania - Romania
Scotland v Macedonia - Draw, or Macedonia win
Iceland v Norway - Iceland or draw
I wouldn't do the accumulator though.
Jay1, I think you mean 2-2 against Holland.
Scotland with the win in the bag now 2-0 up, moves them to ten points, with one game left against the Dutch on home on wed.
For the purposes of the second place playoff, we have 7 points at the moment, so three points tonight would be very helpful in that regard as well. Would almost guarantee us finishing above second place in the scots group for purposes of playoff spots.
Scotland are now up to 10pts in they group so we need to win tonight just to be level with them - ok we be ahead of them on goal difference but still need to win tonight
Russia are now on 12pts after they win today and Bosnia-Herz are on 9pts but the important one is Scotland on 10pts as they have only one game to play - and its against Holland and they need to win it i think
scotland have only one game left.... v netherlands!
but norway could yet make 12pts.... we need to win tonight and v montenegro to be sure of making the playoffs, assuming that is enough to get second, and assuming scotland don't win on wednesday.... though if we win those two, our gd should be good enough if we had the same number of points as scotland
all in all, we gotta win tonight!!! aaaaaargh!
A few very good draws for us tonight. Results werent looking good for a while there earlier but they came back to us a bit at the end.
Iceland 1 - 1 Norway
That's Norway gone, if Holland beat Scotland on Wednesday then the second place target will only be 10 points which we already have even after we lose the 6 against Georgia.
Also, the Czechs, Slovaks, Nordies and Poles all drew meaning they dropped points. You wouldn't expect that group to set a high points target either.
So, unless Bulgaria go and beat Italy on Wednesday, we're looking at Playoffs minimum. All we have to do is forget how bad we were tonight...

This looks upto date to me, I think it is likely Scotlands group will be the one to miss out, cant see them beaten (even a weakened) Holland at home.
Isnt Georgias trip to Podgorica on October 10 still of quite some interest to us?
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.
