But they were already charging €17/18 for the stand weren't they?

As above Dundalk have done OK off the field the last few years so I'd be willing to give them the benefit of doubt on this. They feel it won't unduly affect income

    Matches.

Are Dundalk the only club to divide games into Category A and B etc.Thats what they do in most other leagues around.Which clubs are in the A category?I assume Bohs,Derry,Shams, are Drogs in that too?

    +1.

Dundalk attendance must be double last season which makes the increase all the more surprising. First idea from LOI clubs is to increase prices & not reduce costs. In a recession only monopolies can get away with price increases.

I'd imagine Dundalk have (non wage) costs down to bare minimum. Very little money wasted at any LOI club in my experience

Dundalk maintained ticket prices at First Division levels on promotion, wrongly imo. Bad PR to do it now, but only bringing prices in to line with other provincial clubs.

Oh and if anyone wants the "source" for the Georgie Goes to Greece rumours here is the exact quote from the Dundalk messageboard that is the source of the rumour

" he text my dad sayin gud look mate he gone 2 greece play in athens " (speaking of georgie)

As good as Gospel then, I think you'll agree

The Adult Stand price was €15, now €17 for Category B amd €20 for Category A matches

Adult Ground tickets were €10 now increased to €12 and €15 respectively.

Children tickets remain unchanged at €5 all matches for ground or stand.

Category A matches are home matches against Shamrock Rovers, Drogheda, Bohemians, Derry City and Cork City.

Prices are still below average - Last week in Drogheda I paid €30 for Adult and Child stand seats; even with the new pricing I will pay €22 (€17 + €5) or €25 (€20 + €5) depending on the fixture into Oriel.

Gerry Matthews and the board at Dundalk have done a superb job in relation to the clubs finances and infrastructure in the last 4 years at the helm. They are an intelligent and grounded group of people, and the club is in very safe hands.

    Question

Would nearly all games be category A for Dundalk?

LOL at the righteous indignation sprouting from some of the Dundalk fans on here who aren't shy when it comes to engaging in disparaging comments about other clubs

When you employ a manager with limited ability who has to bring his high paid mercenaries to every club he manages financial troubles tend to follow.

Dundalk are 49% of the salary cap, so Suggesting that SC is the cause of Dundalk increasing ticket prices is plain stupid

Fair point Conroy..cant blame him for that...it's tough on him when the League, the refs, the FAI,Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny etc are ALL against him!!!....He IS the cause of ye,despite an expensive and experienced squad, losing 6 league games already and being knocked out of the League cup.

What an interesting use of the word average.

Or maybe prices have increased across the board since I last attended a game.

In fairness I haven't paid less than 15 in anywhere this year. In fact I'm fairly sure I've paid €15 in everywhere this year

Which would make €15 the mode. I really doubt €20 is the mean.

Its bad timing, they should have increased it at the start of the season.
Theyre really going against the grain of the economy at the moment,
everything is being reduced not incresed and when people hear the word increase they switch off.
this obviously doesnt apply to the Dundalk fans that go every week but more so to the occasional supporter.
its hard enough attracting these people to as many games as possible without putting up admission prices.
