    Dundalk increase Match Day prices

Based on recent developments at Oriel Park and from talking with Fans and supporters about financial pressures the board have agreed to increase the admission prices into Oriel Park.

The club has endeavoured to provide value for money to supporters watching Dundalk FC games and resisted the urge to up prices at the start of the year to show a commitment to the many followers of the club during the seven year stint in the First Division. This commitment meant that the club’s admission prices were below the League average and it is this fact and also that fans have shown a willingness to pay a bit extra, which has brought us to this decision.

We do intend to continue to strive to provide value for money and due to this we are only increasing games by a nominal €2 across the board which is still under the average ticket price for League of Ireland clubs. However, for category A matches where there are significant increases in match night costs we are bringing the prices in line with the League average which is €15 into the ground and €20 into the stand.

Our commitment to children attending matches remains very strong and the board are delighted with the amount of U14’s that currently attend matches. Because of this we are not increasing children’s admission prices and they will remain at €5.
We would urge season ticket holders to make a commitment to this increase and will allow them to do so by making a contribution to the club via the office or on match nights.

Bit sly asking season ticket holders for extra funds. Could be a long season ahead if they're calling for help already

How wise is this increasing the price in the middle of the season? Not sure how good a PR move this is for them. €20 is a lot of money to see any game in this league it does not seem to have worked in Dublin or in Galway who have a much bigger population not to mention both places being far more affluent than Dundalk. Any club increasing its prices around this time will run the chance of being rediculed by the floating fan.

Was part of our downfall last year. E20 entry, and an extra E5 for those going to the New Stand. The extra E5 was quickly abolished (lasted about 4/5 home games at max if even that).

Rumour going around is George O'Callaghan has left to join a team in Greece and the rest of players have to take 30% pay cut so the mst be in serious trouble if the club still needs to increase prices

At least the estimated 10 (yes ten) Galway supporters who travelled to support their team in Oriel last week avoided this increase.

With an increase of €2 (now a whopping €12 into the ground) it is unbearable to reflect on the lost €20 in revenue.

This moderate increase, which still leaves tickets prices below the league average, was strongly proposed by the clubs supporters at last weeks Fans Forum.

Season ticket holders (which are almost three times last season sales) have been asked to make a voluntary contribution - reaction on Dundalk fans forum has been generally very positive.

This move, along with other financial initiatives by the club, are very positive and proactive measures to guard against a deficit occuring at seasons end.

Would you ever cop on. That rumour came from a few young fellas saying they got a txt! Don't know were yo are getting the pay cut stuff from either. The club are adressing the issue of the shortfall now instead of leaving it to get worse.

Dundalk more or less taking the same approach Pat McDaid took last year by cutting costs to safeguard the future, only its being blown out of proportion and claims they are ****ed.

There was a fans forum on the finances of the club last week. We've a projected expenditure of €1.2m for this year (€500k on player wages) and we're looking at a €150,000 shortfall in meeting this expenditure. The increase in admission prices is aimed at making up this shortfall.

Where is your source for this?

Comments like it "could be a long season ahead" show you obviously don't know what you are talking about..

There is an attempt to draw a parallel between what Dundalk are doing now and the situation Galway were in last season. There is no parallel. First off, Dundalk aren't within an asses roar of breaching the 65% wage cap with players wages only forming just less than 50% of the club income. Therefore, if the club do need to reduce costs it will be done during the transfer window in July and not by asking players to take pay cuts. There is absolutely no pressure from the FAI in relation to the club's finances.

The owner of Dundalk wants to go the season and like last season, at least break-even. How many other clubs will do that?

I would say not many clubs will break even and in fact you could be the only one .

Sorry about all the back chat from the Galway crew I find it all very childish you would think they would be able to come up with something different by now .
Bye the way have you seen the price of petrol these days in Dundalk , how is Maxie anyway

Is this in order to pay Sean Connors fines???

Where the hell did you get your sources from? Get some clear facts before you go posting this kind of crap. You just completly made up the 30% pay cut, fans would have been informed of this at the finance meeting last week so where did you get this from? As regards to George, he went to Greece last week and he is only on a contract with us til July so yeah he can go if he wants but there is no official confirmation so until then...

Increasing prices in the current economic crisis is crazy and will affect Dundalks Gates. When GUFC did this we lost almost half our season ticket holders the following season and our crowds dropped by a third at least.

In fairness you upped tickets to €20 and €25, they're upping them to €15 and €20

Obviously the games v the clubs mentioned have a much higher security cost so if Dundalk feel they need to do this, then so be it.

I still think 20euro is too much for any LOI game.

I think increasing to 15 across the board would have been better than having some games at 20
