Seamus is within a whisker of the Everton and Irish teams. Once he gets on he won't be displaced.

Mad to think that if Ireland qualify for the WC, Seamie could be in with a real possibility of being in the squad:D

Ah come on now this is getting a bit out of hand,he hasn't even played a game yet! He's a class player but the one worry id have is his size. Not too many small full backs in the premiership anymore, how will he cope with the likes of stoke for example, where all of their players are big physical lads. Deserves his chance though, great footballer and a sound lad, hopefully he'll get his chance soon.

The 2 best fullbacks in the premiership are Evra and Ashley cole both midgets in comparison to Seamie wouldn't worry about his size , i thought at times he was too eager and lauched himself into tackles he shouldn't of have which resulted in a lot of cards I would expect this would be coached out of him at Everton.

a lot of hope for seamie on here but its spot on he has the talent to be a top defender but most of all his biggest attribute is his attitude. ya could never see seamie being a bentley footballer like some young premiership players. seamies performances while at the showgrounds oozed pure determination to win games and not let players past him. he is in the same mould as rooney as far as attitude is concerned all he wants is too play football and win. if he can get the break of luck in england he will succeed but in football in england talent only gets ya so far the rest is made up of staying injury free, attitude on and off the pitch, fitting into mangers tactics and being liked. how many players have gone to england and just not got the luck when needed. it would be greaat to see seamie line out for the republic in the world cup i dont think anyone who watched him an a sligo shirt would begrude the lad only wish him well for the future

id imagine he'll be in the squad for the trip to benfica aswell. big european ground :) will be class for him

Don't think he is registered for Everton in Europa League, not sure though!

Best of luck to him regardless, hope he stays in League squad and gets his chance soon.

id say he is included in it, your probably allowed 23 players or something like that, maybe more. if he's not then he will be in it after the group games if they qualify

Seamus was taken off at half time away to Bolton reserves. Wonder why, as he was only on the bench for the first team on Saturday, reserves played last night. Hope it was not an injury.

Checked PP website and it said its on ESPN ans Sportmania?

It's on Setanta Ireland, ESPN will be blacked out for Irish subs. Sportmania is Spanish and not available on Sky so irrelevant to most :).

Guaranteed to be on bench at least as Everton only have 17 players. They're playing Thursday, Sunday and Tuesday but Yobo, Neill and Heitinga out tomorrow so it'll be his best chance.

Why??

Why??

Because Setanta Ireland have the rights to show it on Irish TV. ESPN can't show it in Ireland because it will take viewership away from Setanta.

Heitinga, Neill, Yobo, Neville, Osman and Pienar all missing from what ive heard. Big opportunity for Seamie as Gosling will now probably move to Right Mid. Fingers crossed he gets a chance and it goes well. Moyes seems to think highly of him and hes a manager thats not afraid to give players a chance.

Checked Everton website. Some of their fans reckon that Hibbert will be captain and centre half. if this is the case Seamus will be starting!

It looks like he is alright and Blue Kipper is usually spot on about these things.

Everton Team News

Moyesy has a few more selection posers ahead of our prestigious Europa Cup tie against Benfica in Lisbon on Thursday evening. Joey Yobo is definitely out, as is Nuts, and we are led to believe that Seamus Coleman will be drafted in to right back, with Hibbo joining Sylvian in the middle of defence. Add to that the ineligibility of Lucas and Jonny Boy, the ongoing injuries to Phil, The Jag and Mikky and Moyesy will be down to the bare bones for this one. Ossie has also stayed behind on Merseyside, and Moyesy is hoping he is fit for Sundays visit to notloB. So with Joey and Ossie out, Hibbo may take on the captaincy role.

The midfield should pick itself with Tiny, Screech joining Billy and Jack the Lad and potentially Danny G Laaa in a five man formation. The Yak should get the nod for this one, as Moyesy will be chopping and changing up front with three games in six days.

The Blues top the group, with two wins out of two, but this without doubt will be their sternest test, against top European opposition, with only half a squuuuuaaaaad. The 6,000 travelling Blues fans will make enough noise to make the twelfth man count though, and remember don't be taking the **** out of the ****e with all those beach balls, get in there !!

Everton From: Howard, Nash, Coleman, Hibbert, Gosling, Distin, Duffy, Baines, Bilyaletdinov, Cahill, Fellaini, Wallace, Rodwell, Akpan, Baxter, Saha, Jo, Yakubu, Agard.

Lavo's Staring XI: Howard, Coleman, Distin, Hibbert, Baines, Gosling, Rodwell, Bilyaletdinov, Fellaini, Cahill, Yakubu

On another note, does anyone know if Rovers will be due money from Everton for Seamie making his first team debut? I hope there was some clause in the sale.

Totally agree Gosling having a nightmare, i know it must great to make your debut there but it's nearly not fair to play him out of position like that on such a big day.

He has done very well overall. Caught out for the goal but Saviola is class and Seamus will learn from the experience. Are you watching Trappatoni?
