Still though Heitinga came on for Neville in that match so maybe they see Heitinga more as a defensive midfielder than full back which would make it good news for Seamie

Seamie just played 80 mins on his comeback for Everton Reserves against Man Utd Reserves.
Did well, was pretty conservative for his standards, didnt try get forward much bar a few bursts, was solid in defense and had a few personal battles with Macheda especially. At one stage in the first half, Macehda tried to skin him, couldnt, Seamie won the ball, Macheda dragged Seamie down, kicked him when down, up Seamie rose and pushed the young Italian....a little melee started. Was good to see Coleman getting the better of Macheda.
Macheda did scroe the goal though, nothing Seamie could have done.
Coleman came off after 80 mins. Moyles was at the game and must have being happy to see him back playing again.

Seamie got a couple of mentions in the match report:
'' The match saw the return of Blues defender Seamus Coleman from a foot injury which had ruled him out since pre-season, and also saw United keeper ...
It was a wet and miserable night in Widnes but that didn't affect proceedings on the pitch - an energetic start from both sides saw Coleman establish his return to action in the opening seconds - clearing a crafty combination from United attacking duo Joshua King and Federico Macheda.
Andy Holden handed Zac Thompson his competitive debut for the reserve team with eight minutes remaining in place of the tiring Coleman, who received a warm applause from the 1200-strong Halton crowd. ''

Jaysus even with Seamie not knowing the full extent of the injury it must have been a terrible time knowing you had a hole in your foot. Glad he's ok.

More than likely he meant, 'What club did they get him from?'
He probably didn't have that information to hand.
I'd say staying free of injury will be crucial to him progressing at Everton. 22/7/09
That's me finished with tempting fate:(

Seamus played 86 minutes for Under 21s tonight. Georgia equalised after he went off. Hope Givens learned something from that.

I was at the game he was the wenk link for Ireland for most of it, in fairness I'd put that down to lack of fitness and match practice but I thought it was actually cruel to leave him on so long with the roasting he was getting from about the hour mark.

"Seamus Coleman" and "weak link" are complete opposites of each other I think you'll find.

Shamie Coleman had an excellent game tonight in a poor enough team and will have done his cause no harm at all if his manager was looking in on Sky.

From Everton's Website:
Seamus Coleman is on the bench for the first time this season following the nightmare foot injury that hampered his pre-season preparations.
The 21-year-old defender is joined by fellow substitutes Carlo Nash, Jo, Dan Gosling, Yakubu, Lucas Neill and Marouane Fellaini - the midfielder has been cleared to play by FIFA after they turned down the Belgian FA's request to invoke the five day rule.
Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Baines, Yobo (C), Distin, Heitinga, Rodwell, Cahill, Osman, Bilyaletdinov, Saha. Subs: Nash (GK), Gosling, Neill, COLEMAN, Fellaini, Jo, Yakubu.

Raging, Yakubu's on the bench and I have a treble on him, van persie and bent all to score:mad:
Don't quote me on this, but I think the bet will still stand as a double if the other 2 score (which they have) and Yakubu doesn't play.

Can't really see Seamus getting on unless Everton go a couple of goals up and are coasting at the end. If there's an injury, Neill or Gosling are likely to come on ahead of him.

shame Seamie won't be coming on now as they've made their 3 subs

Seamie on the bench is always likely to get on as a sub, no matter how Everton are doing in the game I think. If they are losing hes good at geting forward and make things happen and if they were winning is a solid defender.

Not a betting man but I would think Shamie has a great chance of making a first team appearance soon after watching his two recent TV matchs. He is the perfect impact sub and will make things happen, any of the reserve matches that he has played in show that his problem is that his inside players are too slow on one two's. He is very strong, has great speed and has great control. Accept that he has no experience at the top level but he looks like he is very close to being a top class pro providing he stays injury free.

Its great too see Moyes actually showing faith in this lad. Hopefully his next step is the 1st team and senior Irish football! He has the potential to be a top right back in the premiership if he continues the way hes playing, He certianly couldn't be any worse than Tony Hibbert in their first team!
