i also heard from a good source that alan murphy who is now at newry and ex town great paul mcnally want to resign for the club!
we will see!:p
I heard that about Murph also, he kinda added to it by being at our last game of the season seated with former players such as Barry Ferguson and Digger

Does the Murphy signing mean you won't be after Dupuy?

04/12/2005, 8:01 PM
Maybe, I couldn't tell you, I think we have Murphy Moran O'Dowd and im not sure about Lavine, would still love to have him though :)
I'm hoping Dupuy will stay myself. I'm not actually sure if there's anything to the speculation other than that you guys like him in Galway. Was just about to ask you about Lavine.

AFAIK Lavine is staying.I doubt we will make a move for Dupy....we have 3 top strikers now aswell as O Dowd and Goldbey.

I'd love to see Dupuy back with us...
Conor, None of us know who's going to be given a new Contract with United yet, do we? I'm sure there will probably be a couple leaving the club and who's to say any of the above mightnt get their Contracts renewed??

Heard RUMOURS from a few places saying Kevin Mc Who has definitly signed or will sign for us in the near future.
Lets see if he re-creates that celebration next year. I pity him, his hate of us quickly died when presented with the oppurtunity to play in the Setanta, UEFA e.t.c
Still hate him.
Jesus but do you ever stop. One of the best strikers in the country and your still whinging.
Looks very likely he is going to you alright. Hopefully it will be boys like yourself that will keep him with us.
Derry have offered him a big signing on fee and wages that will make him one of your top paid players. Linfield are rumoured to have offered him £50,000 signing on and over £1000 a week. Derry a bit less.
Hope he cleans you :D
Speranza
05/12/2005, 3:35 PM
FBTN, he won't clean us. The days of spending beyond our means are well and truly over. Our development commitee appears to be one of the most active in the country and always have something in the pipeline to raise funds.
How am I whinging. I don't like him simple as. He is the only player I can think of who has shown a clear dislike for us as a club - Fergal Harkin being another possibly. I'm not the only City fan who doesn't like him.
Would you rather I wrote.....Thanks Kevin and welcome to the Branywell, I admire your work attempting to raise minnows to great heights but when you seen that was futile you decided to jump to the big boys in the North and I am glad to see you here :p
Out of curioisity, how will this move affect his status on Finnside?

It has been rumoured for a while now that Kevin signed some sort of pre contract aggreement with Derry.
I would be very surprised if the man stayed with Harps.

This is only a rumour but I've heard that Derry are not trying to sign McHugh but are trying to sign someone else from Harps.
Donno who!!!
I would certainly like to see McHugh playing for Derry, a perfect replacement for Murphy.

Robbie Dunne has signed for Dundalk for anyone interested. Gill has made 6 signings since he took over last week !

06/12/2005, 12:16 PM
yeah fabio's going to bohs:rolleyes:
look at his options 1. stay with cup winners as captain of a team and a club really going somewhere ie. UEFA cup, Setanta cup and up the league
2. join the bohs hasbeen brigade and face possible relegation, where he'll risk non payment of bonuses and the most fickle fans in the el.
fabio joined drogheda united from non league verona when drogs were bottom of division 1.
he has become part of something incredible and is a legend already in this town at 26!
bohs are scum and fabio knows that going there would be a step backwards and something drogs might not forgive him for.
the only question is if he is good enough to lead our line next year.doolin seems o think so since he made him captain but
we are going to bring in some real quality.
anyone at the final on sunday saw his commitment to the dufc. he's goin nowhere

Who? How come there's been no news of any transfers at all?! I would have thought by now that more than Shels would at least have announced who was being released seeing as the regular season ended about three weeks ago and the transfer window has been open since last Thursday.

Eric Lavine has agreed terms to remain on with GUFC, he was previously onloan with United from Longford Town towards the end of last season. The club is in the process of sorting out contracts with several of the players from last season and the club can confirm that Derek O'Brien, David O'Dowd, Alan Gough, Barry Moran and Billy Clery have agreed terms. When further updates are available they will be posted on www.galwayunitedfc.ie.
Stephen Lally has signed right sided player Ryan O'Donnell from Sligo, while Ciaran Foley, also from Sligo Rovers is in talks with United as is Steven Gavin from Athlone Town. Stephen Lally is also in talks with a defender from another club. In the new year the club hope to have on trial a player from Barbados who has played at International level for his country.

Dundalk's website (http://www.dundalkfc.com/news/051201_SquadNews.html) says they've signed -
Derek Griffin (Monaghan)
Alan McDermott (Kildare)
Austin Skelly (Athlone)
Rob Dunne (Bray)
Fiachra McArdle (Athlone)
While they've released Stephen McGuinness, Chris Deans, Mickey O'Kane, Bryan McCrystal, Thomas Morgan, Danny Woods, Martin Smith, David McGeough, Shane Jackson and Alan Murphy. Ger McCarthy is to sign for Dublin City.
DC have signed -
Gavin McDonnell (Shamrock Rovers)
Damien Brennan (Derry)
Paul Crowley (Waterford)
Ger McCarthy (Dundalk)
They'll presumably end up signing Aidan Lynch, who was on loan from UCD for most of the season, but nothing confirmed there yet.

Dundalk jumped the gun a bit announcing Derek Griffin's signing. Although he probably will re-join John Gill at Dundalk, he has not signed anything yet.
Can we do the usual In/Out sticky for the close season?

I have to agree with the Sligo boys on O'Dowd. He always gives 100%, and seems to be a nice lad, but running around the place does not a good striker make. He lacks predatory instincts.
Remember GUFC fans, we are signing players that Sligo Rovers dont want.
Don't lose your excitement !

5th December '05
DUBLIN CITY FC manager Dermot Keely has has made several key signings to bolster the Vikings squad in advance of next season's eircom League Premier Division campaign.
Joining the promoted Dubliners are defenders Gavin McDonnell (Shamrock Rovers) and Damien Brennan (Derry City) while midfielder Paul Crowley (Waterford United) and striker Ger McCarthy (Dundalk).
Keely has been active singing up many of his successful promotion squad and to date Dave Freeman, Derek Pender, Ben Whelehan, Alan Keely, Dave McGill, Robbie Collins, Paul Shiels and Robbie Hedderman have all resigned for City and manager Keely has promised more signings in the coming weeks.
"I'm delighted with the players I have signed to date," said Dermot Keely. "I've spoken to several more quality players and I'm very optimistic that I'll be in a position to announce several more exciting signings for the club."
"We've very ambitious here at Dublin City and I believe that we can make our presence felt in the Premier Division. We have some very talented players on board and we're looking to establish ourselves as a Premier Division force."
Said Vikings Chief Executive Ronan Seery: "I'm delighted with the quality of player Dermot has signed already and we are speaking to several more proven players and I'd be optimistic of announcing more signing in the coming days."

You may end up eating those words diamond as fabio is telling all and sundry he has signed for Bohs and it is being let known internally around the Big Club that he has signed for us. I don't think he gives sh!t if the Drogs don't forgive him for it.
You can cheer yourself up with the news that the word on the street is that Doolin has put in a bid for Glen Crowe as a replacement. So he too can be part of something special in the town. Special fried rice maybe? special sauce on his burger?

You would want to stop getting weekly fines to be able to pay Fabio's wages.
Maybe he will go maybe he won't. But as he said to us on Sunday night, just as he lifted the cup he said to his teammates "Lads, this is the first of many" -so he hardly going to the (used to be) big club if he wants to win more trophies.

You will dominate nothing with Paul "to be fair" Doolin in charge.Dont be setting yourselves up for a fall!

to be fair, we dont think we are going to dominate anything, but we do reckon we will be competing at the top next year, whilst honestly i cant see bohs being anywhere other than mid table.
if fabio goes for any reason (hates doolin (likely/possible), supports bohs (probable), money (unlikely), ambition (certainly not)) he will always remain a drogs legend - which was just further enhanced this week

great news. maybe the tide is turning
I know im going to get a slagging from the derry fans for this one, but the killian brennan to drogs rumour is still going strong around drogheda.
I know I asked this before but did he actually sign that 2 year contract? Half page interview with him in the middle of all the cup final coverage in yesterday drogheda independent and he said that he'll be going on holidays and will think about what to do for next season - said derry might require a fee to let him go as he's under 23 (if he wants to leave)- his words, not mine!!!
As for fabio and the big pub - I agree with colin in everything he said - definitely gave the impression he was going nowhere on sunday but if he goes it'll be for one of the reasons colin said - cant see him go myself, but if he does he'll always be made feel welcome back to united park. We've a ready made replacement in Marko Van Leecho if he decides to go anyway :) !!!
but will be very surprised if he does go - never belive rumours anyway until i hear officially that someone signs
