A lot for Jon Daly to chew on after that. In all the vital areas and in all the stats we were completely outplayed. We need a RB asap. The squad depth is a huge issue aswell. It’s early days but on that display we haven’t bridged the gap to Rovers.

Good to be back!

Always think when we play Rovers, Derry and in Europe that we look miles off it physically and tonight didn't quell those fears for this go around. As much as some are lovely players all of Forrester, Mulraney, Kavanagh, Leavy, Nolan, McClelland, Bolger and probably one or two more are either both or one of slow or weak as **** and it really showed.

Not too disheartened though given it's a glorified friendly and I think Rovers will walk it anyway. Have an inkling that a team set up around a back three of Turner-Redmond-Keeley may end up being what Pats settle on sooner or later.

Jeez watching the match back on loitv pats keeper horrendous for two of the goals especially the second, absolute howler. Keepers thrive on confidence and we've had enough troubles of our own at rovers to know it in yhe past. Pats will really struggle if he doesn't improve on that performance

Was at the other end of the ground and I thought it had gone through his legs. No doubt we were very much second best on the night. Write it off and move on.

Can't disagree with that it was pretty irrelevant overall in terms of the league. I'd happily swap it for 3 points next week.
Noonan was excellent and I've been watching him sin e he was in Damien duffs under 15s side, he could be the stand out player for us this year.

Anyone know the Bohs trialist today?

Won the first peno (missed by James Clarke) hit the post for the goal, McDaid scoring from the rebound, then hit the bar with the second peno. Fairly poor game in crap conditions.

There's been plenty of talk that St Pat's,along with Derry will be the ones to take Rovers on in a league challenge- If last night is anything to go by, those hoping for anyone but Rovers better hope that Hoban stays fit long enough to keep derry up there-Unless I'm mistaken, that was fairly close to a pats starting 11 against a mixture of Rovers starters and young guns, and there was only 1 winner.
Good crowd in, and the new stand with people in it gives the ground a completed look.
The real fun start's next week.

I’d agree with that, the first half had nothing in it really. Rovers were probably slightly better but neither side created any proper chances. The 5 changes rovers made at half time were game changers in terms of fresh legs and obviously playing ability. Some of the pats players looked dead on their feet after about an hour. With 12 subs being made in the game it was hard to gauge a lot from it but the one thing it did point out to me was the serious squad depth at rovers. The squad depth is incomparable to anyone else in the league and that’s without Lopes, Byrne or Burke even on the bench. I reckon they’ll have to be majorly off song for at least 15 of the 36 games this season if anyone is to have a chance of catching them and I personally can’t see that happening

Plus McEneff and Kenny also missing …… thought Burns looked liked a great addition.. looking forward to him , Clarke , Kenny and Farrugia in the same starting 11…… their pace will give us an extra dimension

His brother plays for Chelsea.

Big physical presence up front but never been much of a goalscorer nor too highly rated at the levels he's played at. He's one of those funny cases where he was signed by a club to basically keep his brother happy, which is how he ended up at Villa. He'd probably do a good job of replacing some of what Afolabi offered Bohs though.

Worryingly comfortable for Rovers last night. I usually prefer to lose the Presidents Cup.

Pats looked well off the pace for most of the night although they did create a few chances against our somewhat makeshift right sided defence in the second half. Wingback still looks like an issue for us if Clarke and Farrugia aren't on the field. Clarke ran amok last night while he was on.

Stadium looks the business. Pats crowd was excellent. Hope we are able to give them the entire East Stand this season. Better chance of filling the stadium and the atmosphere would be great.

Decent record in PL2 7 goals 5 assists in 9 games. So there is something there and he's 21 or 22 so could just need some fine tuning. If he won one of the penos, hit the bar then he at least had an impact on the game and I'll take that from a forward especially since Bohs are very light up front at the minute.

That's fair, should have specified at senior level! Was part of a very talented Villa U23s that also had the likes of his brother, Aaron Ramsey, Jaden Philogene, Tim Iroegbunam and others who'll go on to have big careers. Stood out physically in those games but when that levelled out in men's football hasn't shown the quality so far, but the LOI isn't that kind of league so could see him really being a nuisance here.

Yeah that's the thing with our league at times. A player like Andre Wright who had a similar record to this lad in England looked half decent for Bohs but the second he went back across the water dropped like a stone through the leagues.

Munster Senior Cup semi tonight - Tommy Barrett has already indicated that Treaty's line-up will be distinctly more youthful than Friday's, but while there may be some Kerry rotation, it'll likely be a reasonably strong XI as the Kingdom endeavour to reach the provincial final.

Finished St Mochats 2-0 Dundalk in the LSC, Dean Casey with both goals. Drogheda beat Athlone 4-0 with Adam Foley scoring a hat-trick and Emre Topcu getting the other.

In the other quarter finals Maynooth play Shels on Sunday at 12 and Bray vs Pats time/date is TBC at the moment.

I was at our game and we played with a fairly strong line up. 3 youth players in our back 4 and Kenny Jnr. up front but the rest were first team players. A couple of defensive errors for their goals which can be forgiven given our inexperience at the back but we looked toothless going forward again. Really hard to see where we're going to get goals from at the minute. And fair play to St Mochtas, they were deserved winners and it was a nice welcoming club.

Maynooth beat a young shels team 4–1 on Sunday in the LSC. Looking at the Maynooth squad for the game, the majority of them have some LOI experience, with a lot of ex Longford and Athlone players in particular playing for them

its their big competition. why would they want to move it somewhere else?. theres 2 munster finals down to play in TX , the MFAs ground. i dont see why theyd be anywhere else if the pitch is fit to host games.

When you consider the tone of the statement they released and the fact they essential laid the blame for the entire state of the pitch on one league of Ireland match I think it's fair to ask if there's a necessity for these games to be played there.

As harsh and incorrect as the Munster FA's statement was essentially blaming an LOI match, ultimately it’s their ground and they can do what they want with it so questioning whether certain games get hosted there isn’t going to lead to them ever being changed as it’s entirely an MFA decision.

Its the equivalent of the MFA owning a house and renting one of the bedrooms out to CCFC, both have house parties every week that have left the place a mess, the MFA throw a strop about it, tell CCFC it’s their fault as their last party is the one that messed the place up. As wrong as the MFA are, CCFC are in no position to question the MFA on whether they should be asking their friends over to their next party in their own house

I don't think that analogy is fair really. It's a venue being used for its intended purpose by the business that rents it not a gaf party. The MFA have a responsibility to keep it in good shape and Cork similarly have a responsibility when using it but whether a match goes ahead is almost completely out of Corks control that's down to the refs and MFA really. The actions of the MFA have lead to the pitch being replaced. They can limit the number of games played on the surface but choose not to. They then attempt to throw Cork under the bus. Yes Cork playing on the pitch has contributed to the situation but the amount of games Cork play there is mostly known bar a couple of cup games and the schedule is released pretty regularly and earlier than it used to be so there is time for the MFA to plan other games or weeks where the pitch won't be used. They are just trying to use it as much as possible even when it shouldn't be. Sure it's their right to do it, I have the right to **** in my sitting room as well it doesn't mean that I should!

Yeah maybe not the perfect analogy, I wasn’t trying to say Cork have done anything wrong, more so that there’s nothing Cork can do about it unfortunately

Has the MFA used CCFC as leverage in a SPG applications? Id guess thay have and with others so on that basis alone they could be in trouble if they are messing or singling out CCFC arbitrarily and without consultation between named applicants. Do CCFC have a formal agreement with the MFA for use of Turners Cross and what are the specifics. It wouldnt be too different from SDCC just closing Tallaght and blame SRFC for their agreed use of the pitch. Im sure Rovers/SDCC lease agreemeant is thorough!! If the surface is unplayable now its unplayable, the statement was poorly worded and looked very much like it was pointing the finger though its hard to know if it was intended that way or whether the author is just an idiot.

It would be a punch in the gut if CCFCs use of Turners Cross was on a more informal basis or that the agreement cedes all control of the ground to the MFA including being able to eject its anchor tenant or the the club has breached the agreement eg not paying rent. Regardless there seems to be few on the same page betwen clubs, local association, local and national leagues and FAI.

Will we ever move on from the petty suits hanging on to the little fiefdom and see a bigger picture oe day??
