Apparently new signings can't be registered on the connect app yet so that explains why Shels have so many listed when you'd imagine their squad is pretty complete at this stage.

Looks like Andy Spain will be Kerry's captain for 2024, after receiving the armband for tonight's encounter, and a team named along expected lines.

Treaty get two goals in quick succession at Carrigaline, but, rather surprisingly, extra-time looks on the cards at the RSC.

Kerry v Cobh Ramblers or College Corinthians
Cobh will be a good test in 3 weeks time, a fortnight before Kerry travel to Turner's Cross to take on Cork City.

Banana-skin negotiated, Kerry await the winners of tomorrow's tie between Cobh and College Corinthians, while Treaty will meet Midleton next month.

Ben McCormack and Cameron Cresswell ease Blue nerves in extra-time, and a 2-0 win will probably see them host Cork at the start of February.

I see Leo Gaxha starts for Galway in their first friendly today, so he could certainly do with a big performance to put down a marker, even if both sides are doing the standard fielding of multiple trialists.

He pulled the same stunt last season in the Leinster senior cup and Wexford knocked us out. He has a thing about these competitions. Imo they are useful games in pre season. It will be interesting how Daly approaches them.

Bright start for Clancy by the look of things. Its not going to be an easy job for him to turn the ship around.

He's made what could be called a couple of statement signings. No Galway or Waterford, or a dogged Ollie led Harps, should have the biggest budget (4th highest is only the Premier League salary cap) so at face value bouncing straight back should be very achievable. That said it is the 1st Division, UCD could run away with it, other sides, even Athlone improving or building so maybe you are right. If not finishing 1st the 2024 promotion relegation play-off could be big one (Dundalk and Cork adding to some old rivalry maybe!?), unless Drogheda are involved a pretty big fish will be in the 2025 1st Dvision.

Translated 'I hope he doesn't do well as he didn't do well at Pats'
Give the guy a break, its a first pre season game with probable multiple subs and trialists, judge him after 4 or 5 league games when points are on offer.

I can speak for myself. If that’s what I wanted to say I would have just said it. The last two results for Cork were surprising. I have no axe to grind with Clancy compared to other types managing in the league.

Such as? As you allude to plural with types managing in the league. Say what you want to say and all.

Considering the current standard of junior football a friendly with a second tier side is interesting to say the least

Edit: I’d say that was a good trip.Fair play to Fleetwood.

Sligo/Derry called off this evening.
Harps 2-2 Derry in Finn Park…
Not a great game with it being pre-season and all, but happy enough with what i saw. Derry dominated the first 20-30 min and it looked like it was going to win by 4 or 5, but Harps started to grow into the game. All the new player did well especially Cawley who looks like he'll be a vital player for Harps. Did well to come back twice to get the draw, Flood's goal a bit of individual brilliance and Hutchinson finished off a well worked team molve with a headed goal.
