Five different winners in the last six years. Considering how important the FAI Cup is, it is great to see it spread around.
Got me thinking, instead of putting more prize money into the league, would it be more beneficial to bump the prize money of the different rounds of the FAI cup? Might have a better trickle-down effect than league prize money.

They've resorted to punching the head off each other now instead. An absolute embarrassment of a club on and off the pitch. Maybe duff was right after all with the ‘little old shelbourne’ phrase he invented

That's genuinely mad. Anyone know what the issue was ?

Theye were probably some of Ollie Byrne's old counterfeit stash anyway.

As a neutral thought that Aodh Dervin had a great game for Shels. Thought ex town striker Sean Boyd was fierce poor and was lucky to stay on the pitch. Why was Aaron ODriscoll not playing?
For me Dervin was a surprise starter I thought Duff would have started Coyle in a defensive disruptor role like in the Waterford S/F, Aodh did ok put alot of energy maybe too much he seemed to be the only one not letting the occasion get the best of him. Boyd had a bad one, that's him one week he is a very effective handful or struggles the next week getting frustrated. O'Driscoll is an honest lad but hasn't looked comfortable in the defence and has been on the bench for the last while I'll be surprised if he is back with us next season

Yeah it was only afterwards when I heard that he was on Shels bench. Pity for him

Sure Waterford could say the same, and we could too when losing to Waterford, I think the common link is, how on earth did that Shelbourne team reach the final, they were very poor yesterday.
Shels are capable of playing much better. There had been very little between us in the four previous games this season, and I was shocked at how poor they were on the day.
We'd said before the match that an early goal would be needed to open the game up, but in truth, I don't think that would have mattered. We controlled the game from the start, and Shels didn't look like they'd score at all. Graydon starting was a risk, but it certainly paid off. Could have got MOTM.
Great day down at Lansdowne, biggest away Derry crowd I've seen. First time I've been in the upper tiers (my ST is south lower), and it's actually a lovely spot to watch the match from. Great to see fans of other clubs there too. Had thought the €20 price may have put people off, but the good weather liked helped with that.

Interesting - if the same format is followed next season, with the 20 League clubs in Round One, with the four Junior Cup semi-finalists and 14 out of the last 16 of the Intermediate involved at least in the prelims, then there could be two ex-league clubs competing next year, in Home Farm or Drumcondra, and the winner is guaranteed to be so:
