In light of Anthony Scully's move to Lincoln, I saw these linked on YBIG and couldn't help but share. The most bizarre things I've seen in a while.
First one is 17 year-old Anthony from London: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrE_52QMEbw
Second is 20 year-old Anthony from Dublin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72PNAr5FFMg&t=52s
That's actually weird

Couple of Irish goalscorers today:
Ryan Cassidy came on as a second-half sub for Watford and scored an injury-time equaliser - his third in four games so he seems to be putting a bit of a run together: https://www.watfordfc.com/teams/under-23s/under-23-watford-3-3-charlton-athletic
Warron O'Hore got the winner for Brighton against Spurs: https://www.premierleague.com/match/50699/premier-league-2/2019-20/spurs-v-albion

Derrick Williams played for Blackburn's U23 side yesterday, and scored: https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2020/february/report-derby-county-under-23s-h/
Not sure why he's dropped to that level, but he's been an unused sub for five of their last six games, so it could be to maintain fitness?

Early days I know (but there’s only a third of the season all the same), Coventry not getting much of a look in at Lincoln City in last couple of games. They have brought in so many players at the same time, it’s somewhat concerning. He has never blown me away by his potential but you never know

Elbouzedi possibly suffering from the same issue.

Dara O'Shea scores from right back for West Brom. Molumby started in opposition. Knight and Masterson both started. This quartet are fast becoming Championship regulars and Masterson is the eldest at 21.

Hope for some of the Celtic lads? Barry Coffey and Armstrong Okoflex trained with the senior team before their cup match against Clyde recently:https://www.67hailhail.com/news/three-exciting-celtic-youngsters-spotted-in-training-prior-to-clyde-too-risky-to-feature/
After the midweek games, there's finally a gap opening to Rangers, so perhaps there's still a chance of seeing the three youngsters who didn't go out on loan before the end of the season

Will Ferry on the scoresheet for Southampton in their 2-2 draw with Blackburn. Aaron O'Driscoll and Kameron Ledwidge both played in the Saints' defence. I know it looks like he won't be turning out for us, but 16-year-old "Irish Messi" Zak Gilsenan came on as a sub for Blackburn: https://www.premierleague.com/match/50700/premier-league-2/2019-20/blackburn-v-southampton

Has an English flag beside his name there, thought he was with Australia?
Does he even qualify for England?
Olé Olé
15/02/2020, 7:49 AM
Why won't Gilsenan turn out for us? He had close Irish links and we could be a more attractive proposition than Australia due to distance and maybe potential quality of our side.

I don't think a few token minutes at the end of the season is any use to those lads at Celtic to be honest, the three of them have wasted a year at probably the most important stage of their development playing kick abouts in public parks around Central Scotland. Connell was a regular in the English Championship this time last year. Okoflex was one of the best young prospects at Arsenal, it looks like he has potentially thrown away a good career in professional football with his Celtic move.
It sounds like Lee O'Connor is in a terrible situation at Partick as well, stuck in a dreadful team on the verge of getting relegated into the part time leagues, I'm sure it's not what he had in mind six months ago when he swapped Manchester for Glasgow. Obviously he will return to Celtic but I'm not sure what use getting abuse from the stands as part of a useless team for five months will be to him in the long run. He'd be far better off playing League of Ireland than wasting his time at Firhill.

Coventry not getting regular game at League 1 is disappointing. He impressed me every time I seen him for the 21s. But he is only 19 so maybe lacking a bit of physicality for that division

Bunch of goals for Irish players in U23 action tonight:
As mentioned elsewhere, Troy Parrott played 45 minutes for Spurs and scored - a step back, or keeping him match sharp for future senior games? Jamie Bowden credited with an assist: https://www.premierleague.com/match/50711/premier-league-2/2019-20/spurs-v-wolves
Conor Tee came on as a sub two minutes into injury time for Leicester against Southampton and scored five minutes into injury time. Ali Reghba and Darragh O'Connor also featured for Leicester, while Kameron Ledwidge and Will Ferry played for the Saints: https://www.premierleague.com/match/50708/premier-league-2/2019-20/southampton-v-leicester
17 years old - moved up to the U23s - came on after 70 minutes - scored four minutes later - Odubeko is really starting to look like the real deal (please stay Mipo!). Meanwhile, two other Irish 17-year-olds featured for Norwich - Omobamidele and Giurgi - as did Hondermarck: https://www.premierleague.com/match/50579/premier-league-2/2019-20/west-ham-v-norwich
Two goals for Kian Flanagan in Palace's 5-1 victory over Colchester: https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/2020/march/match-report-crystal-palace-under-23s-v-colchester-united-mamadou-sakho/
Olamide Shodipo scored QPR's first against Bristol City: https://www.qpr.co.uk/fixtures/under-23/2019/qpr-u23s-v-bristol-city-u23s/?tab=report
Tyreik Wright got an assist for Villa in their 3-1 defeat to Reading: https://www.premierleague.com/match/50576/premier-league-2/2019-20/aston-villa-v-reading

Flanagan has really stalled there. Under 23 POTY last year. Has a pop off the club at the start of this season. Goes on trial at Doncaster half way through this season.
He's only 20 but he turned 20 in August and so it's not been the most progressive season for him. No under 21 action for Ireland either.

Cashin & Ebosele are currently in action for Derby in the UEFA Youth League last 16. They conceded right on half time to trail 2-1, the Salzburg forward getting in between Cashin and their other centre back to head home. The game is live on BT Sports 2.
Edit - lost 4-1. Cashin turned inside out for the third. Big learning curve it seems.

Three goals in five games, two of which were sub appearances - that is promising - whoever's going to be in charge of the U21s for the Italy game in October might want to drop him a line if Kenny plans to use Connolly, Parrott and/or Idah in The Nations League

Troy Parrott has had his appendix removed. I assume that's him out for a while?
I wonder what the next few months hold for our other lads. I definitely think that those who have done a good job in maintaining their fitness levels for the last 3 months are at a huge advantage.
For example, Obafemi often has his professionalism called into question by his manager and himself. On the other hand, Aaron Connolly looks to be physically primed and I know Kenny commented on Connolly's focus and the focus of the Brighton staff on this.
I am not a big social media follower but I'm sure players have demonstrated varying degrees of commitment to their bodies and their footballing sharpness over the last few months. This could vary wildly. For example, lads with a home gym that have remained disciplined to progressing in that environment or someone with a garden and goalposts and the discipline to perform drills will be prepared more than others.

in the short term, i'd agree in terms of keeping sharpness and being ready to go quickly.
there's certainly a school of thought which suggests that modern footballers over tax and under-rest their bodies and that this time was a perfect period to allow their bodies to recover and rest properly...

I will say the empty stadium thing might make managers more inclined to throw kids into the mix. I think a big reluctance/fear is how young kids will handle the crowd.
Add in the congested schedule & five sub allowance and this should be beneficial for young players (our ones and others generally).

End of season is always a good time as teams end up with little to play for.
So far in Germany, there have been far less kids used than I would have expected. Teams generally using 2-3 subs from 9 available. Although there have been more short term injuries after the layoff which should also help chances...

Tyreik is still only 18 and has been playing a lot at reserve level. I haven't seen him in a while but if he fills out he could have a good career. I remember him for the under 17s and I was very impressed with his ability to play in different positions across the front, be it as a winger or a second striker off Idah. Anything I've seen of him on YouTube has demonstrated similar, along with a bit of pace, a quick mind and good feet.

i guess in the handful of times i've seen him play, i've yet to see the best of him. In what I saw, touches of Jake Mulraney

Might be his best hope of senior international football to be fair. Don't know that he's even in our top 10 attacking underage prospects based on what I've seen of him and others in the last year.
