Don't see how you can say he had serious potential since he was with us for 2 seasons and never broke into the team.

Ah you can't be saying that - you were looking for more game time for him all year!

Think that says more about the wingers we had (or didn't have) to be honest.

from doing the stats from last season and the season before he did have a run in the first team. I always considered him as a a first teamer until TC decided otherwise! I always thought he was decent at times for us and then retreated into his shell.

Maybe in the FD he might have had a run of games but he was never a PD player and hopefully he can do well at Shels but what we need now is some good fecking wingers who can whip a ball in.

Well Karl Moore is available at the moment and I know TC spoke with him last year but he can be inconsistent which is something our wingers have been famed for in recent years. There's a real shortage of quality wingers not just in the LOI at the moment but the modern game as a whole. So il get back to ya on that one Marty 😂. Dillon can play wide left as far as I know.

copped that on twitter last night outspoken! in yesterdays mirror we are looking to get Shamrock Rovers Craig Hyland back to the club. Its looking increasingly likely that Schlingermann will be goin back to his first club Sligo Rovers!

Be shocked if Hyland comes back to us to be honest. Gutted we aren't going to get Schligs. Was looking at the PFAI list night for the laugh to see if there's any decent wingers on it we could sign and I really didn't see any at all. Real shortage of quality players out there at the minute, really hope Dillon can be a big hit with us.

Footballers are often prepared to forgive and forget if the contract is right. He mightn't have that many suitable options if he wants regular football.

I wouldn't be passing to much remarks on that list. More often bs than anything else.

If Sligo are staying full time which id imagine they are having appointed another English manager then yes they would be favourites to sign Schlingermann but our location and Tony's links to England offer us some hope still.

Oh God yeah it means feck all just having a look for the laugh to see if there is anyone on it (that we could realistically sign) that would come in and improve us and I don't see many at all. You can see why English based players are such an attraction.

Schlingermann works with the FAI already. He'll not leave that to go full time at Sligo.

Schlingermann will sign for the Town. The only thing that can scupper it is if Sligo can organise a coaching job out west. Also hasn't Richard Brush re-signed for them? The only top half club without a first choice keeper is us.

Lee Duffy ex Drogs and Shel's striker has signed.

Seem to remember him scoring against us last year. I think he was Drogs top scorer. Quick and busy player if I remember correctly. Useful enough.

Any word on if Dean Kelly is re-signing?
If anything, it looks like we're reducing our budget given the low profile signings made compared to some of those who have left
Longfordian
27/11/2015, 4:15 PM
I've no idea what the budget will be but there's a long way to go until March so it's hard to say at this stage whether the squad will be more expensive than last year's.

27/11/2015, 4:27 PM
I think Lee Duffys signing is the best one so far. I thought he was excellent for Drogs last season and took his goal against us brilliantly in the 1-1 draw in CCS. Had forgotten he was with Shels previously. Now get Schlingermann!

As Longfordian said he's a big busy striker, will cause massive headaches for back 4's and in turn open up space for Sully. Great singing now get Schligs
Longfordian
27/11/2015, 6:35 PM
You'd have to assume Gary Shaw isn't re-signing at this stage. If that's the case then you wouldn't begrudge him a move if he's got a decent contract for himself.

Chatting to Drogs fans a great signing apparently, however I'm getting a little worried that we are signing so many relegated players, yeah it's one think cherry picking the talent but when's the money going to start getting splashed about a bit? Personally unless we start to see that in the next few weeks I Personally think we are just budget cutting and not looking to build on what we've achieved
Longfordian
30/11/2015, 4:53 PM
It's very early days yet still. See how things look in March the better the player is the more options he'll have and so it'll take longer to get him. Plenty of good players still available. And if we do have to reduce the budget, which I'd be surprised about to be honest, then I'd rather we do that than spend money we don't have.

Tony had a verbal agreement with Schlingermann on Saturday (and was getting serious money for a keeper) but Sligo gazumped them today. Can only imagine what money they offered him. Looks like we're going as Skinner as first choice now which I am not happy about.
outspoken
30/11/2015, 8:31 PM
If what Town legend is saying about big money being offered is true then surely we can expect that money to be spread around for a few other players like 2 new wingers, a centre half and maybe another striker? I don't see any sort of strategy from us at all here bar signing half of the fecking Drogheda team.

Keeper wise who is left available? Brush, Coulter, Hyland and Clarke. Anyone else that can be added to be Skinner's No. 2?

I'd take Hyland at this stage if he's interested. Had a bloody awful debut for Rovers, but improved from there. He's a better keeper now than he was with us in the past.

Think Coulter is still recovering from a serious injury and won't be in great shape for new season. Can't see Clarke stepping down to us, that leaves Hyland. Nice lad and did ok with us but wouldn't go paying him more money than Hunt for example. Maybe we should have kept him after all. Haha not so long ago I would have been mad to get rid of him. Funny game.

bit surprised of no mention but theres a mention in the general forum that Dean Kelly has gone to Bray. Also strong possibility of Gary Shaw goin to Shamrock Rovers. Question I would like to ask is where is the replacements? I know Lee Duffy is a striker but who else is goin to come in as I dont think Gary will stay.It was on the cards that Dean was goin to Bray as heavily linked over the last few wks!

Graham lawlor joins Bohs as U-19 manager. I have a bad feeling the rest of our squad will be made up of youth players. Unless TC knows of at least 5 players been released from their clubs in England.

There's a few decent LSL 'keepers who could step up.In fact I'd suggest that Shane Supple the ex Ipswich lad, currently number one at Crumlin is better than any current LOI keeper, and the guy he replaced Darren Meenan wasn't bad either, Morgan Cranley at Drums is decent as is a lad called Andy at Bluebell. There's also some very good young 'keepers around the LSL Intermediate divisions who could do ajob as a number two. It doesn't always have to be same old same old

Isn't that the lad whom fell out of love with the pro game and wanted to play GAA?
If he wanted to play LOI you'd suspect that he'd alright with be with an LOI club imo

Not even Christmas - is this a record for getting the negativity in early?
Lawlor there all last season too - so either he was brilliant, and just not listened too (in which case, what differemce if he's there or not), or his positive influence was way over stated.

from judgin on the outside we werent performin as well before Graham Lawlor. Everything went up a notch when GL came in. Its no conincidence that Athlone won the title with him and then with us. I think he will be a huge loss and will be hard to replace.

TC is very loyal to Gary Cronin but I don't know what the division of coaching duties was between him and Lawlor. Either way I'd say we'll need to get another coach in. Fabio O'Brien is purely a strength and conditioning coach by the sounds of things and is still playing up the North until the summer anyway so he won't be around for a lot of matches.

No reason behind lawlors departure other than him being a Bohs man and wanting to take on the challenge.
