Bray making big pushes for next season it seems. Cherries 2 year deal suggests that at least.

And who says we won't make the same kind of a "big push"? I said above the ambition of the club is to challenge for Europe next year. We have people involved who can invest a bit if they want to.

Some of the reaction to the news on social media is ridiculously over the top. You'd swear Cousins shot the players. Someone reckons the fans should have had a say in the decision ffs.

Saying the aim is Europe is one thing actually putting your hand in your pocket and funding it is another. I don't think people realise how much money it would take to get us into Europe. Just look at the gap between us and Bohs this season. Bohs are being linked with players like Marty Waters from Rovers and Cassidy from Bray. I don't think they are players we could attract unless huge money was thrown at them.

Everything you say is equally applicable to Bray. I'm not saying we will get there I'm just saying Bray don't have any more resources than we potentially do as far as I'm aware. We don't have a bad reputation from last year either which counts for a lot. All well and good offering lads big money but they'll be reluctant to sign if they're not sure they'll get it.

From the outside, given where we train too. Town would be far more appealing prospect to sign for I'd imagine. We have continuity not seen at any other LOI club in just about ever, in both ownership and management. Never a peep about unpaid wages and what have you. Not a notion why you'd sign for Bray after everything that happened last year, can anyone believe a thing they say about anything, really? They may well turn out to do well and build something, but all evidence points to the contrary at the moment, while on the other hand we must surely look like a club on the up.

Cherrie may have signed a 2 year contract with Bray, but will he be there in 2 years time? Bray's reputation of being unable to pay their players will have a bearing on whether KOC goes back there. If I were KOC and de Town offered €50 less than Bray I'd be signing up with the Town because at least you'd get paid every week. All this talk about whether our sponsor/board will stick their hands in their pockets? Well at least there's something in those pockets......that can't be said for Bray.

Agree 100%. I'd say Twitter hasn't seen such histrionics since One Direction announced their split. Hilarious stuff. If Davy is the next to tweet some 'news', a helpline will have to open...

I totally agree with what you are saying about Bray lads but as we've seen players in this league rarely use their heads when it comes to contracts and will jump at even 50 quid more. Let's be realistic Bohs are a much bigger club than us as are the current top 4 I can't see us breaking into that elite just yet but if the owners of the club have ambitions to do so and they can fund it without over extending us then il he as happy as anyone

Re. Schlingermann, I wouldn't have thought that we'd be in the mix for him. After the season he has had and at his age, he surely is eyeing a move to a full time club. If, for example, Rovers go for him then Craig Hyland will probably come available and he's a more likely target for us.

Daly (Drogs), Dillon (Bohs) and Corcoran (Sligo) are possible other targets. Benson (UCD) would be another good addition but he is probably on a scholarship there.
Schlingermann, like Rice, has a job with the FAI so being full time probably wouldn't suit. That said, apparently Craig Hyland is leaving us in search of first team football, so could be we get Schlingermann part time and Hyland goes back to you.

Bohs players are all on part-time or expenses. Longford could match them and training in Dublin it's much of a muchness.

Couldn't see Hyland coming back here he didn't end in great terms with cousins last time but then again he's matured a lot since then so would be expecting to walk in and claim the number 1 spot so it might appeal to him.

To be fair the ones he's fallen out with in the past haven't gone on to do much with their careers. I agree the 3 players released are replaceable but obvuisly town fans will be anxious until their replacements are revealed. This will be cousins biggest ever test, can he dismantle a successful squad and put together another one. Time will tell and Hel be judged by that.

His signings have been hit and miss his 2 best signings in the last couple of season imo were Gorman and O Connor I would love to see those two as the main midfielders next season

I would agree that there may be an overreaction but dont forget the club have treated one of the section o lads rather disgracefully over flares and a lot of people are very annoyed with the club and now this news of players being released on top of what happened previously compounds the issue. I understand why people would go mad on twitter over it. I am that annoyed with the club over this issue that I will be boycotting the dinner dance this year. Its not cos of players bein let go.

Think the over reaction to that situation re:flares has gone both ways Marty, what ever about the club giving the wrong fine, they issued an apology and got that sorted as soon as it was brought to their attention that it was the wrong person, but now its taken on a life of its own, its becoming ridiculous. The club are right go issue fines if they can successfully pick out the people in question, they have been warning about fines for flares for years and years and have in the past acted with a heavy hand towards some people regards flares etc, these people know who they are and have reacted in a positive way to all this in the past by getting involved with the committee(the people they were banging heads with) so they had a voice and could get their point across in a progressive way. Now where we are now is where a bunch of kids are acting the ****, get called out on it and are basically throwing their toys out of the pram. If they want to let of flares well then stand up and deal with the consequences, pay your fines and dont have people who have the clubs interest at heart they same as themselves, putting their hands in their own pockets to pay other peoples fines. Since these people have been becoming more and more vocal, less and less people have been gravitating towards section o and its a shame to see it!

Longfordian

I don't see how the two things should relate to each other at all to be honest. But I'm not getting into the other issue at all as I don't know the full details.

problem is that the culprits who will remain nameless have not gone to too many games this season. I havent got to all games this season but any game that I was at they were never there and came out of the woodwork for the cup semi final. Its the likes of them that stain section o's good name and would explain why we couldnt maintain the high numbers we used to have. Two others that do go to matches admitted their involvement and I would be confident they wont do it again.

Personally i enjoyed Section O so much more before it got involved in 'politics' (probably the wrong word, off field matters might be more accurate) and we simply focused on creating an atmsophere. Last year was fantastic but this year bar a few games here and there it was like a morgue out at CCS and that's a shame given it was our first season back in the big time. That's not to say of course the lads involved with the supporters club aren't doing Trojan work.

Interesting piece in the sun today lads. Cousins saying he hasn't had it confirmed to him by Pat sully that he's retiring so will be speaking to him over next few days. Also he said the player he met with the other day wanted FT football so we are out of the race. He said the pool of players in Ireland is limited so I'd expect us to look to England for more kids like Gannon.

obviously I am happy that the lads have resigned but I am disgusted with a certain person that puts the updates on our website(and its not Sorbo) who never posted a club statement saying the three lads were gone and thanking them for their long service. Its as if they have forgotten about the lads ever playing. A bit of manners from the club wouldnt go amiss!

Isn't O'Sullivan from down around Bray?

Serious money being splashed around the Carlisle. They're offering two year contracts out now. Risky stuff for a club that doesn't exactly have the hugest fan base.

Along with their stupidly ambitious plans for Carlisle redevelopment, it's hard to know where all this money is coming from.

Longfordian

I believe he's not too fond of Bray from the last time he was there but money could talk I suppose. As I've said previously it's a bit stupid to be believing everything Bray tell you based on last season. A two year contract shouldn't be a deciding factor for him either given he has a decent job outside football.

Yep Salmo almost a done deal but sully not secured yet, however with less travelling, if imagine bigger wages and possibly a 2 year deal you can't see sully not signing for them

Wicklow Town I think, but County Wicklow anyway, so Bray would be much more convenient regardless if they're paying silly money. I suppose it's a completely new regime there now, both football side and off the field.

We can hardly blame him for being pee'd off after this season - I don't think he got a fair crack of the whip anyway.
