To say that kerin would do a job up front is laughable the lad is a b team player standard if that get a grip

Ya no disrespect to Kerin, seen him play a good bit and his not up to scratch. He should try enjoy the year he has training with the OT, see what he can take from it

Higgins was almost playing as a left winger, don't think he was suited to it really, better off playing a natural wide man , as for young Kerin i still think there is potential there, and won't be far off the Avenue A before too long.

If you think he isnt far off ave a what makes you think that he could play up front for OT there is at least 7 or 8 players better than him to play that role that are not even on the panel..

I agree with a lot of what you post in general Fatronaldo but from that list I think only Mike Mc and Roche (be it Alan or Mark) have something to offer to OT panel.

Im just saying that the players I mentioned would be better than kerin in that postion..im not sayin all if any are good enough for OT

You could add Ronan McCormack to that list aswell in that case

Gary Leahy and Brian Corry IMO. In fairness playing as a lone striker is a tough position and a lot of work!

Thought the discussion was about a big target man , most of the lads mentioned , with the exception of Leahy are smaller nippy guys more suited to no. 10 role, and there are a few of them in the panel already.

That's what I thought aswel! Someone who can play as lone striker and make a nuisance of themselves up front, as for him playing centre back what difference does thst make old git? He was asked to do a job when we were struggling and did it extremely well, and done it against newmarket this season. So I'm failing to see what your argument is here?

as you well know before start of season Olympic were looking to move leahy back to centre -half for this coming season ?? ( absolute crazy thought to consider this in my view) it came to a head in Wesley webb and start of season and was talk of leahy looking to leave Olympic I am not arguing about him playing lone striker role more the point your club seems to think his best position is centre half >?

Personally I didn't know Olympic were looking to play him centre half for the season, yes he played there last season when we were missing players and against newmarket this year. The discussion was players who could do a lone striker role, as I said I think leahy and Brian Corry could as they are both strong fast players. Now that the GAA is finished hopefully we'll see himself and higgins upfront on the pitch.

For a man involved with Olympic i am suprised you do not seem to know alot of what is going on in the club ;)

Possibly, either 2 of the 3 are a good strike force. It'd just be nice to have a full squad available for once!

You couldnt really gauge it on the pike game.. Newmarket will have more fight and team spirit about them.. pike have lost that over last 2 years.. fabulous footballers but no heart or team spirit..not saying newmarket will win.. but don't be suprised if they do..

would be great for NOF if they won, but I would be very very surprised if they did. Michaels are a cracking side and should beat NOF easily, however it is cup football and anything can happen. I am sure all NOF players will be up for it and relish the tough tie. best of luck to them in it
any one go to the newmarket vs bridge game at the weekend???Did newmarket deserve the win ???

As we near the mid point of the season ,a few observations.
Premier Div.: No real surprises here big guns at the top and will stay there, of the other teams Corofin are doing surprisingly well but Lifford could face the drop.
Div.2 : Hard to call but looks between Rineanna and the Burren , sad to see Rhine propping up the table as they were a premier side 3 seasons ago , i suppose all the rural clubs have problems from time to time.
Div 3 :Looks to be between West Clare and Olympic B but BRIDGE b could be dark horses.
Div 1 : Looks like a battle between Avenue B and Ennistymon but the real fun for the cdsl could begin if 2 of the B teams finish in the top 3 or all 3 finish in the top 5, not that unlikely either.
To finish hopefully Donal will give us a decent winter break otherwise we'll have a mighty long summer break !!

Newmarket and Bridge will be a run away in the premier but don't think the rest of it will stay the way it is. Avenue surely wont hold 3rd, club isn't the same as it used to be. Kilrush will compete for 2nd division as well as the other two teams
Bridge B if they hold there squad should win the 3rd division, and could be a tricky one for any cup team. Alot of premier experience in their squad.

Wouldn't be writing off Avenue just yet, I don't think they'll win it but they might have a say in who does.

Best of luck to OT squad. Strange that only 14 players are available including two keepers. I know players have pulled out and there are injuries but not many options there to change the game if plan A isnt working.

14 men in the squad?? Players should be called up for games like that plenty talent around the place capable of being squad players, I'm sure there was plenty of lads sitting at home this weekend interested in a game, OT management need to up it a gear or they will be no where near the heights of last year. Sounds like a shambles

that's A bit different than refusing to play ? but also think lads are forgetting that manager still thinks they are the 16-18 best players in clare but as part of a squad he cant play everybody , jesus I would have loved the chance to be part of a team to represent my county at any sport ;)

It's disappointing to see good players giving up on there county. Management mightn't be the lads favourite but you won't get better... Crusher did brilliant job and it's a shame most of his work is gone now with players giving up

If players pack it in because they didn't get picked or have a disliking to the management then they don't deserve to represent their county. You play because you love the game and the chance to represent your COUNTY.
I would have given my right arm to play for my county.

Losing out on so many players from last year whos game has improved because the effort put in. They would have made squad alot stronger??
