Fair enough Ray - - - as for WR is he still playing ?

Olympic do have a full squad of players, it may not look it from an outsiders perspective but we are happy with our start to this season (not including the bridge performance). We never expected anything less from newmarket if we had got anything there is a bonus. As I stated at the start of season the goal is to stay up, our cup finals are the games against corofin, tage, lifford,Tulla and bridge celtic. No1 can help the fact that players get injured/gaa of if they are away. With the B team players brought up at the wknd I can only imagine them players were brought up because the B team couldnt afford to lose 3-0 afaik so maybe needed there better players or maybe the other players didn't want to I'm not
sure.

squad below against newmarket .. take out Fred B team player ,,,

Whelers
Bj-Alex-Ray-Collie
Liam-Brian-Fred-Ryan-Mark McKee
Garry Higgins
(Jamie egan started for the first 10 mins but was injured)

Add Add cheeky / leahey / dean power / Dougan / Ian hogan gives you 15 players personally i would not call that a full squad and going to struggle in premier with Only 15 players .. jamie egan / cheeky both injured now as well ?

I think Olympic should easily stay up , but it's a bad state of affairs that a club would allow players to refuse to play for the A team because they 're trying to win the 3rd div league cup, those lads are no good to any club , the A team manager should have first call on all signed junior players A or B , otherwise the club will never progress, well that's my opinion anyway.

I agree but as I said that was the only reason I could think of what happened other then that I haven't a notion so don't hold me on it :p

OG - we also have Gavin Hayes and Jamie Martin, 2 v.good players if they showed up to every game. Again you're probably right we need a few extra bodies there, guess we'll just have to prove you wrong and not struggle to stay up ;):ball: Think both Jamie/Cheeky are back this week.

Gavin hayes / Jamie martin not the Most reliable lads to turn up , and did Gavin hayes not refuse to go on as a sub last week against the Bridge !!! ... you will need Jimmy to go out poaching again for ye for a few new players ...

i hope you do prove me wrong and dont struggle to stay up and in case you think i am having a go at olympic see start of thread were i tipped ye to do well in premier and to suprise a few people ..plus it would be good for shannon football to have ye playing in the premier league as much as possible.

Yeah well we have a couple of important games coming up home to corofin and away to bridge celtic so it'll be interest to see how we are in two weeks time. Have Ennis Town lost players this season? After going unbeaten all last season they've already dropped a few points, saying that they are still unbeaten but narrowly beaten lifford and drawing to tage and avenue. Newmarket be fav for the league this year I'd think.

Ennistown have 6 or 7 gaa players to come back watched both tage and lifford games they should have beaten tage and could easily lost against lifford..lifford keeper very poor and then got sent off..they are very poor at the back and imo will be lucky to finish in top 3

We all get things ridiculously wrong some times , dont worry about it OG -

Would have taught WR would be good enough for the A team , alot younger and more energetic that RQ IMO

Jeez lads, there's some fascination with Shannon Olympic on this thread!!!!
Re Ennis Town, they are still unbeaten so they cant be that bad but are missing a lot of players through GAA. Although it is good to see some GAA players like Ciaran Russell make a return for them. Newmarket look very strong this year with their new signings.

it is a clare league thread and olympic play in Clare so we can be fascinated as much as we like ;) Good point on Ennis town not a bad start if missing so many players .. agree that Newmarket looking very strong this year and 100% start to season so far as well and of course Avenue ticking away as usual . hard to see beyond Ennis Rock / Avenue / Newmarket for league winners this season.

They've lost another player after Colin Smyth? Even if they dont sign anyone else I cant see Newmarket losing the league. Avenue have 3/4 very good players but they are lacking in comparison to other teams and have a small squad. Ennis Town and Avenue will battle for second and third and Bridge to improve again after keeping Darren Murphy.

jesus crusher must be offering the sun moon and stars down there, he was tapping them up for long enough
clean sweep in clare so for them this year at a minimum

Strange going on's at Avenue this season all right, Paddy o' Malley AND Barry Nugent playing for the B team eventhough they had plenty subs togged , must be desperate to win some kind of silverware, if the A team are in such bother.Maybe Mastermind could shed some light on all this ????

re: McCarthy to Newmarket

One more player from the village to lose their place in the team I expect. Great squad assembled now but at what cost. I make that 5 or 6 players now brought in from other clubs. Newmarket won the league 2 seasons ago with primarily Newmarket players. Whats changed now that such an overhaul is required.
Also whats become of the bitter Avenue Newmarket rivalry?

Good points but I think crusher while he would like to win stuff domestically I think he is trying to win an fai or munster junior.. If they do well in these cups then there will be plenty of game time for all these players.. you have to commend crusher for being so ambitious and hopefully he does well this year.

As good as McCarthy is it looks like he doesn't have the stomach for the grind. Next Sunday should be a sellout I'd say 😊

Sorry Second but I disagree, these are not club men and as soon as their respective clubs sort themselves out they will leave NC.
On the plus side there will be a great B team made of local lads. That's where most local support will lie, not supporting an Avenue amalgamation.

strange move to be honest after 5 games into the league
not as if he didnt win plenty with avenue.
maybe the lure of winning the munster junior and fai was too much
its a sideways move in his career
roll on next sunday

You really think Newmarket are good enough to win a MJC or FAI not a chance

The only people mentioning MJC and FAI are not Newmarket people.Target this year is to regain the league title.

Anyway we wouldn't have the budget to buy a MJC or FAI. :)

Newmarket look very strong goin forward now maybe they should be looking at getting new full backs if they want to challenge nationally thats where they are weak

Building a squad to win Munster. That was the clincher for the ex avenue players going down the road. They had enough of the local stuff won.
Makes for a interesting season.
Congrats to mick Sheils on OT. Nice guy

Another noncence statement both full back were on the Oscar traynor team /squad last year who got to final..plenty of options there too for full backs

Where did I say they will .. They will have a good chance with the new additions.. had a good run in it last year getting to 1/4 final and with new keeper Smith mccarthy and especially paddy Purcell they will do very well
