a bit rich to be calling Bunratty a team of mercaneries , nothing coming through and club practically collapsed .. did the mighty rineanna rovers not survive for years with a few mercaneries and nothing coming through ;) and ye collapased ?[/QUOTE]
Rineanna always had a loyal base of players for as long as i can remember , consider Rineanna is one of the oldest clubs in the CDLS , sure there was the odd pretender that might have tried to move in but i have to say the majority were born bred and rared locally
Unfortunatly things did go wrong - when the greats came to the winter of their career we didnt have a back-up plan - trying to compare us to the Rats ?, no comparision - as mentioned we had a spine of 15 locals , the Rats had alot of players coming ang going , and mostly staying gone !
i cant speak for them but maybe a few members here might comment on that ?

Not re opening the gaa vs soccer debate but why is avenue Newmarket on at 2.30 Sunday? The highlight of the gaa calendar is at 3.30(the all Ireland football final Kerry vs Donegal to all the soccer lads ).
And why are there linesmen for the game ??

I for one think it's a great idea, I'm sure there will be a considerable amount of interest in this game so having it on at 2.30 allows the football people of Clare to see it.
The fact the All Ireland Football is on an hour later is irrelevant.
As for linesman, I think all premier games should have three officials. Helps get the big calls correct. Costly for Newmarket as they'll have to pick up the bill for it
They should charge a nominal fee at the gate to recoup the referees fee.

It's a Munster junior game , not a premier game
and Newmarket requested it I was told. They worried about their marquee signings? Has john Healy and David Russell retired ?

Neither have retired. John healy is injured and Russell is involved with Eire Og id say. Shuffleruns, you actually havent a notion. Half your posts are pointless.

Newmarket and avenue both play soccer and munster junior game or clare league should not worry about clashing with other sports and the meeting of Newmarket v avenue should be the highlight of clare soccer on sunday.
And why are there linesmen for the game ??
Any game in Clare involving Premeir teams, either team is entitled to request linesmen.

I have just checked with the league and there are no linesmen for the game on Sunday.

Who are the decent young players gone to Rinneanna ?

All the banter is papering over the cracks of the concern raised.
Of course all clubs bring in some players for one reason or another who are not from the area. However the number that Newmarket have now brought in is unusual for such a proud club, a club that has had such great success in bringing players through from youths to represent its premier side and win with its premier side.
It is not so long ago that Newmarket had 3 very competitive teams in the parish. Bunratty have in truth no longer any links to Newmarket and are realistically Cratloe in disguise. Rineanna are realistically a vehicle for Shannon based players and Newmarket A have signed 5-6 players from outside the area.
No doubt Crushers approach will bring success but is it good for soccer in the area, I dont think so.
the best team attract the best players there is no loyalthy any more .....LADS are afraid of the challenge and go chasing medals

Daryll unlike some, has a bit of class and loyalty, no chance of him taking the easy option.

he didnt go over the top with the celebration.
just bordered on it though. no doubt he will be kissing the crest as the the season goes deeper.
presume
the darryl rumour is just that. but you are right he wouldnt get his place.

Would have to disagree with comment that Ennis Town are a poor team, easily 1 of the big 4 and will only get better with the return of some missing players, but won't be retaining the league title which will be Newmarket's by Christmas.

The only players that will make a difference when coming back is hickey and glynn and what ive heard is hickey might not be playing due to work commitments... 4th place is the best imo that they can hope for .

Hickey on his day is a fantastic asset, capable of winning games on his own.
How you reckon the top 4 will finish up?

Without a shadow of a doubt hickey on his day can be unplayable..my top 4 would be Newmarket bridge ave and probably ennistown in that order..

Have bridge improved that much or have the others deteriorated??
