You really think Newmarket are good enough to win a MJC or FAI not a chance
1/4 finalists last year and 3 or 4 great additions to squad and you say they haven't a chance.. shows what you know about football..

shows what you know if you actually believe that we will see how well they do. McCarthy is a excellent signing no doubt

Where did I say they will .. They will have a good chance with the new additions.. had a good run in it last year getting to 1/4 final and with new keeper Smith mccarthy and especially paddy Purcell they will do very well
I didn't quote you, I stated that Newmarket won't win the FAI or the MJC
In my opinion, you are a poor judge of player, you go on hearsay and trends. Typical of where you live
And it further proves my point, Newmarket were beaten by Rineanna In FAI last year. Not at 1/4 finals
Geraldines beat them 4 nil in MJC semi, and went on to lose the Final

Your right it was semi final of munster (my mistake)which even backs up my point that 3 or 4 extra players will see them do well this year..
On the where I live point what the hell does that matter..
as for me being a poor judge of player are you telling me mccarthy Purcell and Smith are poor players.. haha your having a laugh

Darren cullinan is a good full back..David o grady is also handy you can also play eoin o brien or semie lawlor in these positions so not as badly off as you think..

Darren cul in good with ball at his feet cannot defend o grady shouldnt even get a jersey for newmarket seamie isnt the same player he was a few years ago and eoin o brien woukd be wasted at full back..

Even the notion of moving Eoin O Brien from centre back is nonsense, left sided centre backs are a rare commodity, even rarer when they are of the class of O'Brien.
Second, your quoted as saying Davy McCarthy is the best player in the county for the past 3 seasons.
You judge players on report you read from biased internet posters.
Eoin O Brien is the standout player in the league, followed closely by Darren Murphy.

Your entitled to your opinion.. eoin o brien has played at both left back and left midfield on more than a few occasions for newmarket in recent years..
as for getting my info from reading reports .. you are well off the mark I go and watch a fair few matches on Sundays when not working..

Totally agree with Newmarket being poor in the full back area in terms of National and Munster standard, not too many better in the county tho. The best full back is Darren Murphy but he is never going to play there at Junior club level

In my eyes I would say Eoin O'B, Murphy, Davy McCarthy and Stephen McGann were the stand out players from last year. Newmarket could win a MJC with the team they have now. They got to a semis last year and have added three excellent players and crusher. The draw has alot to do with it. Like the 4th round game v Avenue was argueably a tougher match then their quarters against that cork team. They could have beaten them 4/5 nil.

I agree they have also added a keeper that quinn lad from connolly. .
It's great that people think Newmarket have a squad to win the MJC but let's bring a bit of reasoning to it. Getting to the semi-final last year was a nice distraction for some but the draw was very favourable, games against Avenue can go either way, Village United from Cork are a second tier team in Cork and I would expect most Clare Premier teams to beat them. Killarney Celtic are not the force they were and both the top sides in Clare beat them last year. The semi-final was a one-way affair and pains me to say it showed we are along way off what's needed to win a competition at this level. The players that have joined Newmarket this year are a great addition, yes they are good players but the Manager knows that his priority is to regain the league title. Distractions elsewhere and for Clare clubs and the way our league operates the FAI and MJC are just distractions, costly ones at that if you are playing catch-up in your league and ultimately don't win it. Crusher knows what is expected of him. You can't claim to be Clare's top side if you aren't leading the way in League titles in your fanciful pursuit of holy grails. It costs a lot of money to win provincial and national titles if clubs who have achieved it are to be truthful.
In Newmarket we are trying to do things right and that is an attraction to people as can be seen by the influx of underage players to the club.

Good points there first..
But we're you not on here last year saying there isn't much between Clare's top teams and Limerick premier teams ..now you are saying ye were way off the standard required to beat the likes of dines .. not trying to start an argument but did you not say that..I personally think ye will win clare at a canter and do very well in national cups

Well off, watched two prem games in the last two weeks and the standard is below average!

Agreed I have always said that Clare teams aren't far off but then there was last years semi-final, basically playing at home and getting played off the pitch had me reconsider that statement. I still believe that the best Clare players will compete with the best of any other league but from our point of fact is that Newmarket ultimately ended up 3rd in a two horse race last year and that is disappointing. Winning 3 in a row cups is great but League gives bragging rights. People forget that between 1995 and 2008 Newmarket won zero league titles and while this was happening another club decided to self crown themselves ( read back over the years and you'll get the reference)
We have taken it on ourselves as a club to rebuild from schoolkids to A team and everyone has been given their role. No point in searching for holy grails when the silverware at home is being taken from under your nose.
Any results from today?

Missing Garry Higgins, Ryan Kelly and Cheeky. Even without them players we should be beating corofin. Jamie Martin is still with us second, he was playing today.

A number of different issues to tackle here , i would seriously doubt that Davy Mc Carthy went down to newmarket to win another league title , he has loads already , so my guess is Crusher has told him the MJC is a possibility, no point trying to disguise it First, and anyway the league will be wrapped up by christmas by the looks of things. Secondly in my humble opinion i don't think there has been a better player in the cdsl over the last number of years than David McCarthy, i mean if Eoin O Brien is that brilliant why go after Purcell ?Murphy from the Bridge i haven't seen enough of to comment and McGann at Avenue looks a very good player but will he hang around now ?

Rider cups, Why wouldn they go after purcell? He is an ex LOI player. Its a team game. There is two centre half positions on most teams. Thats like saying nah I dont want Messi cause I have Ronaldo. Bit of wild comparsion but you get the point. Its about strengthening the team.

Where else would mcgann go now though if he was to leave? Can't see him going to newmarket, and especially his position would probably struggle to break into limericks top 3/4 teams in CM!

At a glance NOF have only won recently with the addition of players from outside the parish {3 / 4 RR -1 SO etc } - and now with the new push for Munster and FAI ye have added more players from outside the parish - i put it to you , is there not enough talent in the parish ? is it that NOF cannot win / progress without outside influence ?
Will NOF lose their identity and become a team of mercenaries rather than a NOF team as they were in the proud past when the collins / o'mears were playing ?

I suppose you would have to ask Crusher his opinion on the players. from what has been said here most of the players signed are quality additions and I suspect will have to fight for their place. Its with big squads that big trophies are won. Crusher is a good manager and I am sure he is a good man manager also
Planners, have you a gaa background seen that you like to associate teams and subsequent players with 'parishes'? I think the game has moved on a bit . I would have thought you might be more concerned with your club and its own identity or are you happy to be the 'New Newtown' ;), with your new found facilities and some of your management? or are you too busy throwing stones and trying to disrupt other clubs (you might even be looking for their players from any potential fall out)

you mentioned about the addition of players not being from the parish, so I am just wondering how you view it from your club when you state ' for a 1 team club you have to progress with whats available to you ' are you slagging NOF for having good few players from outside the town/parish , but when its a club, that has only one team (like your club), that it is ok to get whatever is available to you (even if it means outside the parish).
not having a go, but just interested if you are having double standards
at the end of the day each manager is tasked with winning matches and its up to him to build a squad and get them playing a certain that gives results. good players want to play with better player and be challenged for their position and earn it when then get it. Talk of targeting national honours should occur each year they enter them and if you don't have the belief you can win it (yes I agree luck and decent draws play a part) then why bother enter in the first place?

I agree with you here but as per my earlier point NOF were capable of winning multiple honours with a squad from the village , but in resent years have had to use player outside the parish to achieve these same honours - look at Bunratty , a team of mercaneries , nothing coming through and when the vein ran dry the club has practically collapsed , cant see this happening to NOF but hope that youth and underage development is tapped in order to keep NOF going !! !
