Yeah about 100 over the other side. Some great goals by us so far. Pats missing loads of their first choice team mind.

We are long overdue a win at itchysore , parts very poor albeit a weakened team.

You can see why Fahey came home.

I mean it must be such a thrill to play in these big games at Richmond Park.

How strong will the Rovers team be tomorrow? Won't be all that strong if the first leg is anything to go by

Probably the same team again. The return trip on Friday is the priority for both teams.

I'd be surprised if Kenny makes more than 2 or 3 changes from Friday nights game.

Probably all in midfield to cope with another all-action display from Bayly.

Three promoted from the B team for Rovers, Sean Heaney at centre back while Daniel Purdy and Alan Kehoe are on the bench.

Good set piece there and Shields with the finish, one nil to Dundalk

Game isn't the greatest, but that was a great finish from Shields.

Super goal, awful game. The pitch is a bit better second half but Rovers still hoofing everything.

Dundalk fans chanting at Ronan Finn: "You're just a **** Richie Tool."

You'd hope it won't be at Oriel anyway.

The final should be played in Longford, nice stadium, neutral venue and near half way between both clubs...

Think the final should be in neutral venue, Longford/Athlone would be ideal IMO.

Or equally inconvenient for both sides. I think a neutral venue will always hurt attendances.

I'd say Ronan Finn must have an awful crick in his neck after watching the ball sail over his head all night. Ridiculous amount of hoofing from Rovers all night. We weren't great but did enough.

To have a player as good as Ronan Finn but then hoof balls so that Andy Boyle can have some heading practice???

Terrible tactics from Shamrock Rovers tonight.

Dundalk and Sligo have good support and both sets of fans will travel for a final.

A venue with two stands is needed.

It was an awful strategy. You'd think with this game basically a write-off, Croly would have instructed his players to try and get to grips with the difficult surface as practice for Friday, but he seemed to just want to avoid anything along the ground. Rovers' only decent spell of the game was after Brennan came on and they were able to manufacture some space quite easily out wide.

Shamrock Rovers took Route 1 football to a new level tonight.

We got a rare clean sheet.

He'd be fairly useless for a team who can't win a throw-in.

He would hardly be out of place then.

I'm not sure though that he could meet the high demands that you have for incisive passing!

Dundalk passed very well today, I was impressed. Rovers have been passing well most of the season but Croly seems to **** the bed whenever he needs a result.

800 people at the semi final in Sligo and could easily see double that for a final in Dublin

Tallaght it is

Tallaght it is

Seems the council are looking for too much money to stage the final there, hence the talk of it being in Sligo. We'll find out tomorrow anyway.

If Setanta want to marginalise their own competition, there is no better way that to stage the game at the Showgounds or Oriel Park.

What would differentiate the final from a standard league tie?

Sligo and Dundalk would fill Tallaght and provide Setanta with a much better package to present to the media and to business sponsors.

If it's not going to be in Sligo (really it shouldn't be but I'd still prefer it there) then play it in Longford to try and split equal enough travel time for both sides (I know Setanta aren't really going to care about travel times). Feck going to Tallaght.

800 people at the semi final in Sligo and could easily see double that for a final in DublinAre you trying to say we'd have a similar attendance again for the final if it was in the Showgrounds?

I guarantee if it was in Sligo there'd be more than the 1,600 you're suggesting Dublin could easily get. For various reasons - It's not mid-week, we'd have a lot more than the 20 away fans who came that time (and they probably wouldn't be complaining about having to leave their town twice in the one week like Pat's fans were), plus it's a final - we love them.

Longford is quite a lot closer to Sligo than Dundalk, travel wise. Little over an hour from Sligo, but almost 2.5 hrs from Dundalk (on ****e roads too). However, if it was in Tallaght, it would favour Dundalk as it is quite a lot closer.

Finals should be neutral venues, so I would live with either. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of options.

I would go from Dundalk to Longford in less that 2.5 hours walking backwards with a broken ankle. You may take it that this game will be played in The Showgrounds. Saturday match with Rovers matketing = full house. Great pitch in a fine stadium. All adds up for Setanta TV.

Splitting hairs, but I'd expect us to bring at least 3,000 to a SSC final.

We LOVE a cup final in Sligo. Especially those of us who've never been to the Showgrounds.

What's the capacity of the Showgrounds? I'd imagine it'll be an even split on tickets and any returns would then go back to Sligo.

Was about 6,000 I think for the end of the 2012 season but I don't know if that was temporary.

Depends if we put up temporary seating at the Shed End, but possibly 5,000 or so.

Could be 6,000 plus at the game. Sligo and Dundalk are two of the biggest bandwagoner areas going.

Unfortunatley all the scumbags among our support will be out for this one

Dont mind myself if they do choose Sligo, once we get 1/2 the tickets

2,500, as I recall.

Demand should be stronger now as there is a real buzz around this team and a belief that we can win.

Should be a great day. A nice trip out on the luas, and it will help the local economy. If both stands can be filled, i.e. 6k crowd it will look good on tv and both teams can play very stylish brand of soccer, which might give this competition a badly needed lift. The only worry I would have is that it can get very windy out there which might make it difficult for the players to display their skills.
