SkStu - the Kazakhs are building for the future, have a very good national youth development program and facilities, we don't, we use facilities in the UK and it's sub-standard coaching. Agree that anyone who knows about football didn't expect a walkover, but the meeja portrayal (with their complete ignorance of the opposition) is letting down the public.

so their future is here? They should have told us...

There's no breaking these guys down, not with nine men across the box like that. Twenty minutes to go in the match and we all know that we won't score. Even Keane isn't protesting that much after being locked in a bear-hug by the Kazakh defender.
You were convinced it was only a matter of time until we scored 15 minutes ago.

Our player renown for no end product takes all our free kicks.

Have we actually created a decent chance all game? Can't think of one.

Don't get caught up in the past. The balls just aren't breaking for us tonight.

Going to my terribly boring job will seem like a reprieve after this.

Look how far back Shane Long just went to cover. He should have been on since the start. Great player.

Laughable - the 11 *****s playing don't know that BORAT will be plastered on every newspaper tomorrow - all because we can't beat a team 142 in the world. An utter disgrace and ashamed to be Irish with this clowns out there

This is a slightly understrength but no doubt underperforming Irish team on a seriously bad run of form, with some wrong management and tactics decisions compounding it. It's awful to watch but come on: ashamed you're Irish 'cause of this?

Don't worry, I'm ashamed you're Irish too.

really?

Yes, only 50p though. Also had £1 on at 5-1

So the £31.50 return should cover the £2.99 I paid for stream, total profit £27.01.

I knew there would be a fair bit of injury time, plus I though they might tire and and we
had improved somewhat so I though I would take 40-1 if I could get it, which I could
and better still it went out to 50 -1 by the time I got the bet on.

Dunno why really just had a feeling we might pull it out of the bag lol.

Papering over the cracks a lot again but I'm glad we won it.

Awful as the performance was, I'd have taken 2-1 before the match.

Great win. It was never in doubt, just a matter of time before we got the goals we needed I figured.

Jeez, talk about 3 points stolen. I guess this (partially) makes up for the late goals we've conceded down the years.

Over ....
2-1 a decent result even it was a terrible performance. Flights, the pitch, the heat I dont really want to hear any of that as we were totally outplayed by a pretty poor team - I'm dreading the match in Torshaven now.

I don't think we'll come 2nd in this group and I think Trap will leave at the end of qualification in 2 years. But it was vital we didnt lose tonight as it could have been catastrophic for our ranking and we could have had a nightmare group for France 2016

No fecking highlights on my stream, they just pulled the plugs a minute after the final whistle :)
And I paid £3 for that!!!

Still can't grumble must be Ireland's biggest escape ever.

That was one of the worst performances I've seen by an Irish team. Papering over the cracks is right. Relieved we won all the same. Off to Brandywell so will reply more after digesting wtf just happened. Bit dazed..

a loss would have made the manager's position untenable, even the win papers over the cracks.
the manager's position has gone from untenable to barely acceptable in the space of five minutes. the expectations from the year's remaining fixtures mean that there will be a stay of execution, but for me the countdown is on now for Trapattoni's replacement

Noelys Guitar
07/09/2012, 6:02 PM
Fair play to Kevin Doyle. On his own he changed the game. But it is going to be death by a thousand cuts with Trapatonni still in charge. Delaney is no fool and will know the end is nigh for this guy.

It will be a long qualifying campaign if we keep playing like today.

I said at half time to trust in Mr Trapattoni.

There's more than one way to skin a Rabbit or as Mr Trapattoni would say " the cat was in the sack but the cat can get out at any time"

Brazil here we come!
