Anyone hear anything about Newcastle having points deducted from them for their wins over Abbey and Shannonside, as they fielded an illegal/suspended player? If so, surely Abbey and Shannonside will get the points? And if true, the league will become very tight! This happened last year when Newcastle played a suspended player in a win over Shannonside, and apparently because they didnt appeal within 4 days then nothing happened, which is a ridiculous rule but is changed now, so i hear.

Couple of good munster junior games the weekend, alot of gaa on this weekend too so some teams could be missing a few, drom abbeyfeale and ncw are all playing in senior football championship. Is it true the abbeyfeale manager has packed it in? did anyone else hear that?

I'd be shocked if this is true but if it is a points deduction for those games is surely not enough as this is downright cheating same as it was last season against shannonside & ncw rovers. Shannonside were in with a shout of winning the league at that stage and ncw rovers could have been relegated because of it.
Maybe a 10 point deduction on top!
I doubt this is true.

When they got deducted points last year, it wasn't in the observer for at least a week or two after the complaint was made! So maybe true yet...
who was the alleged ineligible player/players they played??

I just heard there that they are being deducted points in the youth league for playing ineligible players, so maybe someone got it mixed up,they really need a new Secretary that crowd.

The league need to punish this more severely. Youths and juniors are the same club so the same people made the same mistake twice.
Breska Rovers seem to have gotten away with the same thing this year. They played an illegal player twice in the league in games the won and drew. I know this for a fact because I saw a player get sent off for apparently headbutting him. This was reported and they still played him in the next game. I think a complaint has gone in but nothing has been done. Joke.
On another note, we arent doing so well in FAI cup, nearly every team beaten by clubs from another league, not a good sign

not going well in the fai so far with 3 teams from kerry beating 3 desmond sides so far but i can see some desmond teams winning in the 2nd round like ballingarry, newcastle west, abbeyfeale and broadford united, rathkeale should beat ncw rovers in the local game and hopefully some others can win also.

Firstly, I am unsure if Newcastle played an illegal player, but it seems to have some substance from what I hear as well as what people are saying on here, as well as them having a history from doing so last year.
Secondly, any club with common sense would look into that, as playing illegal players is...how would you call it....illegal!! And points should be awarded to the opposing team without question, if true. So if you are saying that Shannonside are good at complaining, then you are also saying the Ncw are good at playing illegal players....good point you made!! Not

Just an observation Trumours having played against them but probably a bit unfair as we can all throw the toys out of the pram.
They sure can complain at matches, theres no question about that!! But then again I have never watched a team who hasnt...!

From what i've heard, the player (a young goalkeeper) that played against shannonside and Abbeyfeale was suspended from schoolboys at the end of last season for 2 or 3 games. Then when he played juniors, people thought that the suspension carried but apparently the ruling is that schoolboys to juniors is a different league so suspension didn't apply. Could be wrong but thats what i've heard.

The League will be a complete joke if Breska get away with this. Last season NCW rovers got the points when NCW played a suspended player. The pretty much made NCW Rovers safe fromrelegation and all but condemed Kildimo United to relegation. And this season Breska played an suspended player against Kildimo and got a draw because of it. Kildimo would be on max points this season if it wasn't for that draw. If the league doesn't take action then Kildimo will have been punished twice in two successive seasons, because of other teams playing illegal players.

A few years ago we implemented a policy whereby if you got booked for mouthing or basically anything but a tackle, you got a €10 fine from the club. If you got sent off for the same it was a €25. Last season we had the fourth best team in terms of getting yellow cards and were one of only 4 clubs not to get a red all season:
Juniors Best Discipline: Clubs with fewest yellow cards
Askeaton (11), Glantine (13), Shountrade (15), Kildimo (20). Clubs with no red
cards Carrig Celtic, Ferry Rangers, Kildimo Utd, Knockaderry.

So why should we be punished twice in two successive seasons, because other teams blatently show no respect for the rules of the league and play illegal/suspended players? While we were probably the best team in terms of discipline last season?

The league need to punish this more severely. Youths and juniors are the same club so the same people made the same mistake twice.

NCW youths have been deducted 3 points in youth div 1, I was told this from a NCW club member, so that's probably the story and someone decided to stir a bit on here.
I think the rule on this playing illegal players has to be reviewed because as it stands the club are only punished if they win the match in question.
I understand that anyone can make a mistake however the same club 3 times within a few months makes me wonder and as the punishment is so small imo maybe its worth a risk that you won't be found out.
Seaniefitz I agree that what happened kildimo is unfortunate I feel that Ncw Rovers & shannonside were the ones that were really effected but at least Ncw Rovers were awarded the points in the end,the shannonside result probably put them out of the running in the league.
Why are ye not getting the breska game as it seems cut & dry from the information on here?

Some people on here love causing a stir and a load of rubbish talk.newcastle west really should look at themselves after it happening again,i know its only the youths team but its from the same club.you can hardly punish their junior team for it but should punish them with a fine or something.newcastle rovers seem to be in trouble like answers above said but last weeks victory in the fai junior cup might push them on abit.i heard last week alright that theres no oscar traynor team because nobody wants to take them over,a real shame after they winning it 5years ago.

the four in a row league winning side of the late 80s will never be forgtten.

great pity about the junior oscar traynor situatuion. it was always a bonding nucleus for players from various clubs to to get to know each other and with some very good talent in the league im sure this must be addressed even if a manager just stood in for the games with no other committment to the cause surely within the desmond league commitee there is a man for this job with several being involved in management before.. any suggestions?
