How are people only copping on to this now? Whatever 'ability' he once may have had is most certainly gone and has been as such for the last three or four years.

He wasn't finished last season, or the season before. Maybe, as LTID says, he's gone back, but at what, 30? For a central defender, maybe he's out of form right now. I'm not a cheerleader for him but 3 or 4 years? Serious?

hes 29, will be 30 later this year. He never had any pace to begin with so talk of him losing that is unfounded. Right now it looks like hed rather be anywhere but in Cork.

Its looked that way since the moment he signed. I have no insight into his thoughts or anything, but he has come from a club that won regularly and paid him well, and now he has taken a massive pay cut to come to the only club that offered him a contract. Its a kick in the stones for him to take a pay cut and to play for a team that won't win as much as Shamrock last year, but he's going to have to get over it fairly quickly or else he will risk losing the respect of the fans that adored him in his first stint here.

thats exactly how I feel. He is probably my favourite ever City player, or close to. He was a real leader on and off the pitch in his first spell, and especially in the dark days in 08 and 09 he seemed to keep the players together. Thats what I expected to see on the pitch this time around but he just doesn't seem bothered.

Maybe I'm reading too much into his (and the teams collective) poor form but I'd rather he didn't ruin his legacy.

For the record, Colin Healy has been worse in my opinion and thats even more surprising, and although he has the excuse that hes coming back from an injury he is running out of rope on that one, hes played about a half dozen games at this point.

Think it's fair to say that none of the three Munster clubs have started the season as they might have wished!

Does anyone know what the story is for the next round in terms of who gets home advantage? Another draw for that?

Why is it being made so long after the 8 teams are known. Absolutely daft.

Does seem like a very long time though.

Also, Limerick are the only team left outside of the First Division. Is a continued presence in this tournament a sign of improvement or a disadvantage? Depending on how the First Division looks a few months from now, Pat Scully's charges might not want to be too distracted.

I think if the squad is used right then it's big enough to handle this also. If we progress it will be seen as a bonus but other than that I don't think many will be too disappointed to see Scully give some fringe players games even at the risk of being knocked out.

There are a fair number of home games especially that should be gimmes for Limerick so can't see it making too much of an impact on them.

Pat Scully has been given more than enough resources to compete on all fronts in fairness.

Depending on the kindness of the draw, I'd like to think we'd at least be competitive.

A fix if I've ever seen one...

Sligo v Derry
Drogs v Dundalk
Pat's v Rovers
Bray v Limerick

The lads couldn't keep a straight face!

Nah Nah Nah Nah

Surely if they were fixing it they would have kept the 2 Rovers, Pats and Derry apart?

Bray away, not too bad. Well capable of getting a result there. Of course, league standings (that is, distractions) could be very different for both clubs by the time that game comes around.

Also gives me an excuse to take the gf's advice and head down to Bray for a summers day. Happy with that.

No they're looking to maximise the crowds so that was the best possible draw. The dates for the games are good too, rest days during the Euros.

Edit:

I don't really think it was fixed!

Our game on Tuesday is much more important for Rovers than it is for us. We have a league to contend for while they have to keep a manger in a job.

Any idea how strong a side will Bray and Limerick field tonight?

Jofspring
25/06/2012, 9:15 AM
Would think we will have a decent mix so should be strong enough. Have a few players like Gary Sheehan and Dominic Foley coming back from injury and Stephen bradley back from suspension so they could get a start and our defense should be pretty much full strength.

AFter a 3 week break Limerick will be full strength tonight it Will be a tough game but were well capable of winning.

It is extratime and penalties if a draw right? Trying to calculate my last possible leaving time so I don't get stranded in Bray or Connolly...

No joke, I was going to put 50 quid on Lims as well as a tenner double on lims/drogs, but then got dragged away from the laptop for 20 mins, come back and Limerick are winning. I'm well and truly ****ed off now..

Limerick were 7/4 to win, with a full squad, great odds
