    2012 EA Sports Cup

When will the draw take place for the 2012 EA Sports Cup and is there any word on what teams will be involved?

    A Championship: 4 years - 8 first teams - 0 financially ruined. First Division '14: 7 first teams.
Opportunity lost for new clubs/regions to join the LoI family.

Last year it was made on 3rd March with ties to be played by Monday 28th.

This year ties are to be played by Monday 26th, so I'd imagine it'll be the first week in March again for the draw.

I would again assume that the earlier rounds would be regionalised like in previous yrs..
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

Yes, both rounds before the QFs, so Waterford and Limerick defeated Tralee and Kerry respectively, before then playing each other. Similarly, Galway lost in round one, and Sligo defeated their conquerors in round two.

So what you're saying is that Sligo conquered Cockhill?

Yeah but how hard was it really? Word has it, when they leave the comfort of familiar surroundings Cockhill become a bit of a soft touch.

Going by the rumours on the Paul Cook thread, we could be seeing headlines like 'Dicks inpires Sligo to take out Plucky Cocks'
Hello, hello? What's going on? What's all this shouting, we'll have no trouble here!

I hope the rejected A Championship clubs take part. Cobh, Tralee, Carlow, Gust, Fanad. Makes the tournament more intresting. How i remember Tralee away on a Tuesday night lol.

I'm not sure what they would add, considering some of them don't have senior sides at the moment. Would there really be any point in GUST U19s entering for instance?

I'd imagine Cobh and Tralee at least, perhaps Fanad and Carlow also, would welcome the extra competition, and there's been a long tradition of non-League involvement in the League Cup.

Maybe they would- certainly Fanad would have no problem entering. But I wondering what level the others have been left playing at and whether brief the step up to senior level would be useful or indeed welcome.

Fanad will be in either way as the Ulster Senior League champions.

Does anyone know how the new format for the FAI Cup will work - the League teams are starting in the Second Round, but will the ex-A Championship teams still be included in this season's First Round.

    Does not compute.

I don't like the League Cup. It seems so superfluous in this day and age.

Don't think they showed this early of a round on MNS before. Draw should be on this week though.

FAI Cup draw is on 6th March (Tuesday). Maybe both cups drawn in one night?
