Got my tickets today. Looking forward to it. In the upper tier of the East Stand. I think that'll be mixed neutrals and Shamrock Rovers fans. Your one in Ticketmaster didn't really have a clue though.

Is there any way of finding out how the ticketmaster sales are going ?

Yes, me too.
Large contingent going from Oriel to the upper tier of the East Stand to "cheer on" Neale Fenn.
A couple of banners being worked on for the occasion.

Hopefully you don't get too tired leading the Shams fans to the stadium :)

I reckon nearly all neutrals will be supporting Sligo. Not necessarily a knee-jerk anti Shams prejudice - just that Sligo are a far more attractive team. The difference between the style of football the two teams played in their respective semi-finals was remarkable. And Shams looked a complete shambles against Bray. Hope they have the courage to play a bit more on the ground against Sligo and don't ruin it as a spectacle by endless hoofball.

As regards to the game itself O'Neill did make a very good point on MNS about how high up the pitch we press teams. I think it's a huge part of our game that while we do pass the ball very well we make it very hard for teams who play against us to play the ball out from defence as well. The last game in Tallaght in the first half for the first 10 minutes Shams tried to play it out from the back but the pressure was just too much so they started hitting it long to Twigg.[/QUOTE]
I think we will play 3 up front to combat this.

So tell me if we were playing any other team do you honestly think the same neutrals would be up for us? Anyhow what's the bets that Sligo don't play this sparkling football and they'll have the excuse of 'not turning up', or else use the one's that are already in waitine, ie the suspended players, the fai want us to win it, the ref gave us everything etc.

Of course its knee-jerk anti-Shams prejudice...and there's nothing wrong with that! :-)

Could be wrong, but Id say Galway and Harps would be up for ye no matter who ye were playing, they seem to have a connection with ye. Plenty of other fans will be cheering for ye too no doubt.

We have just lost the best passing midfielder in the league so what do you think, in fairness. Finals are notoriously dull affairs anyway, with no player wanting to make the big mistake.
Ticket sales as per FAI :
The Hoops have sold around 9,500 tickets, while the Bit o' Red sales are approaching 8,000.
Anybody going gets a tenner off the Norway game: http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2010/1108/faicup.html
They've done a decent job on this but I'd like to see more ticket outlets for neutrals.

Not ideal having 2 matches and training the week before the final, but it is "their" ground too. Think they might be training on it again before the Samoa game.

Bound to favour Shams' tactic of hoofball up to Twigg.
Not such good news for Rovers.

In fairness, it wouldn't be right to deny the egg-chasers the chance to practise, seeing as the surface is only going to be used by one team on Sunday anyway.

Only ticketmaster and the FAI will know that but the best possible indication would be from the 'best available' €10 tickets on the website. Currently the best available is East Stand Block 507 Row Q, yesterday was Block 506 (which is nearer the centre of the stand than block 507) so I'd guess from that sales are not amazing but steady enough considering there is still 6 days of ticket sales left.

It's all accurate so what's the problem?
Has Chicken Fried Rice been practicing his long throws this week?

Yup exactly.
I laughed out loud when Dessie Baker said on MNS we play the same kind of football.
But anyway back to the Shams fans victimisation complex about their "style" (I use the term style loosely) of football.
No doubt I will be reliably informed "we are the champions" bla bla bla, as a wise man once said, Form is temporary class is permanent.

Ye we also found it easier to play nice football when we were no where near the top of the table playing with no pressure or against teams that didnt raise their games against us.
But when it comes down to the nice pretty football and people saying nice things about us or winning the league, winning the league still gives me a warmer happier feeling.

Or in this years case, bad refereeing and a +2 goal difference wins titles

Sligo had to put in a good run of form to fend off Fingal and Pat's for third. They have also won the League Cup this season. Both know how to win trophies. I'd like to see Sligo win but with the suspensions, Shamrock will probably shade it.

Sligo didn't invent the sideways pass, and Shams don't eat live babies on the field. The truth is actually somewhere in between. God forbid people would let that fact ruin a perfectly good bit of mudslinging though

Sligo Rovers have sold their initial allocation of 8,200. Fans are now being asked to purchase their tickets off ticketmaster as the FAI aren't giving us any more. Most likely you'll have a couple of thousand Sligo Fans in the upper stand above the Shams (lower) ones; thats where people in sligo are now being referred to in ticketmaster. - Bit annoying as I'd love all Sligo fans to be in together!
A third of games spent getting draws playing football will win cups, it will not win leagues. You can win a cup having never won a game over 90 minutes, you can't in the league.

Four points that could drastically have altered Sligo's season and the league table..or the four points Rovers picked up in Sligo..or the four points Rovers won in Tallaght against this football machine..

Ticketmaster shouldn't be the only outlet left for tickets. Fans should be able to get for face value in Sligo and not incur the handling fee ticketmaster will charge.

Because Sligo supporters have been so classy throughout this thread.
I was hoping Sligo would win the match, but having seen the sheer pettiness in the run-up to this game, now I'm not sure.
