why not invite one or two other locals clubs to play i'm sure teams would be delighted to get a game in before season starts.

As of now Rineanna and Bunratty still exist, granted the later in a new guise, so I shouldn't see a problem with them. Also you are correct I am sure other teams in the locality would be more than happen to partake if that was required.

I think lifford and avenue will be the two clubs up there for the title, i'd say newmarket will be around there somewhere too but from what i've seen of them in pre-season i doubt they will be strong enough to win the league

Yeah I'd be inclined to agree with this, think it will be between the two Ennis teams with Lifford just nicking it. Would be interesting if it went down to the last game of the season between the two and playing each other in the last game in the season.

would not read to much into pre-season games its all about getting lads match fit.. if newmarket hold onto same squad as last year they will give it a good shot at retaining their league title. avenue are obvious challangers but what are you basing lifford on.. they have always had good teams but seem to fall away at end of season year after year .

From what I have heard lifford have brought in a couple of Shannon lads so it very possible that Lifford could just well nick it

No, Martin has been advised not to play again. Tough on him as he is an outstanding player.

Typical throw away comment from Second . If he really knew anything about clare soccer he would know that there was plenty of Junior soccer players down through the years with a lot more talent than Nabs . I could name them but I really could not be bothered . Nabs was a good player and the thing that made him a good player was his pace not his natural talent . To say he was the most talented player EVER in Clare is a bit much .

Your right none of them were.. Majority of these players wouldn't be as good in present day football.. Ya a few would but maybe only 4 or 5.. And in my opinion Martin would be right up there.. To say he had no natural talent is a ridiculous comment too..

smashing footballer , but thought bernard was a better player and kieren up there with the best in clare also.. 3 players who would walk onto any team in clare then & now you boys in the village have been producing some class players over the years.

Read my post again I never said he had no natural talent . I said it was his pace not his natural talent . Yeah Martin would be right up there as one of the best but to say he was the most talented player EVER . You obviously are going back around ten years about the same length of time you have been involved in Clare soccer . Have you ever seen Noel and Bernard Collins play . have you ever seen Colm Mounsey and Brian Donnellan play . That is just a few I will go on if you really need me to

planners have you any news on rinnena is it all over or are they struggling on it would be a shame to see the club folding alot of good lads involved over the years and i hope the club can keep fighting on.

Why is the Clare panel picked already. Seems a bit unfair.why not bring the trials back . A few players from what ever teams.I'm getting on now but would love a crack at it. Not that my club would put me forward or anything:). But there is new talent out there .

they are playing a hermitage selection weds night so you would imagine squad must be already picked and players informed.

Not sure what the squad is but I got a call from the new manager on saturday. Think the clubs were asked to put players forward, I could be wrong though. Hopefully other clubs will represent properly this year, went to Galway last year with 8 or 9 from Avenue and only 14 in total

First game against Limerick has to be played on or before 31 sept so that only gives the manager 4\5 weeks to prepare for that. With midweek games and club training we ll be lucky to meet 5 times before the game, possibly 3 friendlies and 2 training sessions

Hopefully this year we will give limerick a better game than last year, although it finished 3-2 last year we were poor on the day. They have quality throughout the squad but I m sure we can match them. Oscar traynor starting alot earlier this year, anyone know why?

avenueC
22/08/2011, 3:35 PM
oscar traynor is gonna be completed before january,, think so as it doesnt interfere with fai and munster junior comps nearing their completion,, obviously limerick and the likes put the pressure on so it wouldnt be a hinderence come end of season,,
sad to see rineanna fold,, some great lads there down thru the years
