Glad to see the Clare league have used their common sense again when avenue and rock will meet in the munster area final on saturday evening in kilmihil, nice to bring 2 town teams out there to play. Also fair play for letting Avenue and the referee know that the game against tage was changed from the fairgreen to lees road in good time. 10.15 sunday morning the Tage manager rang me to see if we were turning up for the game that was changed to lees road since the previous thursday. Its a farce really

mastermind after reading post on claresoccer.net answer me this what is the problem with sharing these matches around to clubs... As clare league has to pay for these finals why not give it to clubs instead of council.. If you don't fancy going to kilmihil don't go.. I'm sure rock would be delighted .. On the other point telling ye sunday morning is bad form

Sound a bit like when the Gaa try to get the Dubs to play outside HQ.
Kilmihil is a fine setup there is noting wrong with allowing other grounds to hold finals as long as the facilities are in place.

Well said at least you wouldn't cut your knees doing a sliding challenge like in lees road.. It's like a beach up there

Area Finals should be scrapped anyway. They're pointless, I think the CDSL is the only league in Munster still playing them

Lees road not like a beach..played on the middle field sun..perfect condition for soccer..2 town teams..game should be played there..should be scrapped anyway..ave certainly dont want injuries and rock will be lucky to have 11

Thanks for posting result VC. CL guestbook looks to be shut down.
Great result for Bridge Utd in fairness, well done to them. Have to win 2 more games to stay up but have the momentum now I suppose.

No Derek Fahy for them tonight either due to hurling on Friday coming so him back on saturday will be a boost for them

I have no problem with the league playing the game in another venue but why not in Cassidy Park or McDonagh park which are really good venues and within a short distance for both teams, anyway its just an opinion and I m sure the pitch in kilmihil will be in good nick and st pats will benefit from it.

lads can ye go and discuss them shannon clubs and anything to do with them in the Limerick threads, nobody cares about them here
he was talking about a rumour that a team from shannon might be joining the clare league that's not exactly a limerick thread, and who appointed you spokesperson for what people care about?

We've been through this about them coming back to the Clare League on here too many times before, it's not going to happen. They were too good for the 1st Division back in 2008 when Newtown got relegated so do you think they'd come back now and not have a chance of playing in the Premier for at least 3 seasons. NO

Well said kicks .. We can talk about whatever teams we want here especially if it's a team based in clare.. So if ya don't like it .. Don't read it and definately don't reply to it

its getting boring now its 3-4 years now since a certain club left clare league to join with another club in shannon to play in the limerick league and its amazing people still find time to believe rumours / hearsay. lots more important things happening in clare league cup final / relegation/promotion play-offs.

Then old git why are you posting here .. Sure you have nothing to do with clare league anymore... When was last time you watched a clare match... If people want to discuss rumours here it's got nothing to do with you.. Agreed..
Rumours aside I think it would be great to have Shannon Town and Shannon Hibs in the Clare League. Newtown folding has left a big hole in Clare football imo, they were a good club with very good football people involved with them. There is a preception that the Limerick league is of a better standard but I don't believe this to be the case, Avenue and Rock have proved that the Premier teams in Clare can compete at the highest level in Junior football, testament to the fact that the standards in the Clare League are improving, this added to the facilities then the Clare League will in the long term only get better.
In my opinion Clare teams should compete in Clare and snap out of the notion that the Limerick League is some kind of holy grail, take a few of the big "money" clubs out of the scenario in Limerick and the Limerick League is no better than what Clare has to offer in terms of facilities and competition.
I for one would love to see the Shannon teams competing in Clare.

I agree first... I have seen a fair few games this year in both clare and limk.. And take out 2 or 3 teams at top of limk premier ( money clubs ) and clare teams are on a level wit the rest

have seen plenty of games in clare this year bunratty / newmarket / avenue / olympic A / Olympic B / bunratty B / Rinneanna / bridge utd so because people are not playing/involved with soccer in clare they cannot have anything to do with clare league dont be talking s***. I Like you can go to watch matches in clare / limerick if i want and can comment on them also. apologies for not having anything to do with clare league for over 15 years now.. i must reaply for a new passport..:D

That's the spirit old git ... The clare league should start charging money at the gates.. You'll keep the league going on your own

Sorry didn't mean to offend anyone by posting on this thread....
As I said I was only asking the question to see if there was any truth in the rumour....
I know a motion had be presented to the Shannon Town board not to long ago regarding the possibility of the two clubs amalgamating but it was rejected by the board.
Maybe Hibs were still looking for a change but after the response here I'm guessing not :D Thanks for the replies :)

Bridge won't lose anyone as all the players are from the place. The outsiders jumped ship in January. We'll rebuild and will be back. By the way the mighty haven't fallen too far as 6 of the premier lg winning panel of 2006 will be playing 2nd successive cup final on Saturday.

Thought Bridge Utd were fairly poor on Saturday evening. I along most others were hoping Bridge Utd would stay up and Bridge Celtic would go down. Hopefully Mountshannon will beat them next week

Not sure if they will all retire but probably the two Downes brothers, Geoff Flynn, Alan McAuley, Podge Flannery, Albert Finnan. Trevor Kearney and Robert Conlon also have Prem league Medals.

Mark Lonergan also won a medal in 2006.

Did bridge go down on goal difference. And a replay if necessary in the cup. I thought that was gone. When was the last time that was used

No, Bridge Utd had better goal difference than Bridge Celtic but GD doesn't count in CDSL. Bridge Celtic beat them 3-1 Saturday evening in the playoff. Heard that game was originally scheduled for Sunday morning but Bridge Celtic as ked Bridge Utd to play it Saturday instead because apparently they would have been missing players on Sunday.
The replay rule has always been there. Last time Cup Final went to a replay was Corofin v Avenue B in 2007

We have a full team for the cup final. Monday night was a good game for us to play before saturday, derby games are always tough. We are taking this game very serious, Bridge B getting to back to back finals shows they have great character in the team. Hopefully the weather is good, decent crowd and an entertaining game to finish the season. It feels like we ve been playing this season for about 2 years at this stage

Have to disagree. last year Bridge B were a better outfit and had character imo. This year theyve gotten the luck of the draw and poxed their way to the final its not because of character its because of pox they are in the final again. they beat a poor Bridge Celtic side in 2nd rnd, rovers b in Quarter final and Burren. Avenue will trounce them saturday

Thats your opinion, I hope your right that we do win though. They also beat avenue B en route, Personally I thought they showed great character in beating the burren having been behind in that game twice. How much will it cost to get in to the game?

€10 as usual

€10 is a bit pricey but then again there's not much oppurtunity for the league to charge into games
