Hey All,
Just wondering if any team here would be interested in playing us (Star Rovers) who are newly promoted to Limerick's Premier league in a pre-season friendly on your own patch, if you are please PM me and we'll take it from there.

Cheers

May I inquire to all clubs, will you be charging admission to games this coming season?
I would say definatly do it, for only €3 admission people will appreciate the game more, stay till the end, gate numbers will actualy increase I garantee it.
Free admission is selling yourself short and we have a good product in Desmond league football, lets not sell ourselves short, lets sell our product, we all have better facilities now, lets drive on and make more people come to games.
Especialy Premier and 1st division teams, B teams maybe pass the hat around.
So come on guys, appoint a "gateman" for the season, it will be worth around €2k a season.

Charging entrance WILL attract more people to games. Its the reason nobody drinks Fosters or Beamish, too cheap, people think it cant be as good as the dear stuff.
The GAA is premium lager, people pay for it!! I'm sick of being the poor relation to GAA, particularly now that soccer facilities are catching up with and in many cases passing out GAA facilities in West Limerick. Sell your product dont give it away! I'm calling on all Desmond league clubs to appoint a "gateman" for the new season and charge €3 entrance, under 16's free. You'll be amazed at the results....

I assume you meant August 29th. Good to see St. Ben's back. I checked out their Website and it's top class. One thing missing though is the whereabouts of their pitch as I gather they are not back at the old running track. Maybe somebody out there can assist? Any news on the format for Div 3 for this season. It certainly made for a much better division with last years set up.

Looking at the youths set-up there's 6 teams in div 1 and 9 teams in div 2. How can this make sense? Perhaps the league think that like last year that both Glin Rovers and Askeaton will not fulfill all their fixtures? Somebody should recognise that the youths are the future of this league and it should be organised accordingly. Anyone prepared to stick their neck out and make predictions regarding winners and losers in the divisions for the coming season?

I think they are keeping more teams in division 2 because teams have more of a chance of winning games.... some teams just end up getting hammered week in week out and loose interest in seeing out there season....it gives teams a fair chance of winning rather than gettting hammered in Div1

What are people's predictions for trophies and relegation issues in the Prem and Division 1 this season ?
Rathkeale will do well to repeat last seasons haul and the promoted teams seem to be doing better than 1 season in the top flight the last few years. I dont think teams will be paying big money for outside coaches as last few seasons this has proved very unsuccessful in my opinion.

I went to see Shannonside v NCW Rovers this evening and it finished 4-4. It wasn't the best game and both sides were missing players but it held interest throughout. Three penalties awarded (correctly in my humble opinion) but I was disappointed with some of the Rovers attitude towards the referee late on in the match. Both sides would need to improve a great deal to retain Premier status this year. As usual some offsides were wrong, but otherwise the ref got most things right, so I cannot understand why players really need to have a rant at the ref. It's not like anything was at stake. Rovers played some good stuff mixed with some indifferent phases and the same could be said for Shannonside. I don't think either will be challenging for honours this season on this performance but would still be good enough to retain Premier status.

I'm going to watch Ncw and Star in Ncw on Sunday. I want to see what kind of teams they have both pit together this year.

My prediction for the year is rathkeale to win the league again. They are too strong for everyone else plus I heard they have re signed culhane so that should boost their squad

I was told that it is starting at 1. I'm not a 100% sure but it is definitely on in Ncw. I'm going to look at daniel power back in action. It was a real waste to see him not playing for most of last season.

Div1
Winner B.garry Runner Up Kildimo

Div2

Div 3
Winner Broaford B Runner Up Shountrade

Div 4

I wont try the cups as they are too unpredictable.
However i wouldnt be surprised if Killeaney have 5 or 6 games in hand towards the end of the season for the 3rd season in a row.

if rumours are true then its good to see daniel power back in the league.

I heard Gerry Cronin took over Abbeyfeale and that the Kelliher Bros were training with Regional so itl be interesting to see how that develops.

12 days to go!

went to see carrig vs kileaney tonight in a "friendly" not much friendly about it!! it was good hard game which carrig ended up winning 3-1. kileaney finished the game with 9 plaers and were lucky to do so as they abused the ref all the way through. i dont see them getting far in the premier if this is gonna be their attitude for the season. carrig look a good side though and played the off the pitch for the majority of it with swift passing and great movement. if they continue to play like that i see them going straight back up again come the end of the season.

Wasnt it a Carrig Celtic referee that was doing the game. Having said this there is no excuses for any team to abuse any referee

Yes it was a carrig celtic referee but i thought he did a good job and was fair on both sides. He made a few mistakes for both sides too but what referee dosent? there was no excuse for the abuse he got and if it had been a competitive game i think kileaney would be in big trouble!
