Anyone know anything about Newcastle Rovers proposed new pitch and dressing rooms ? They had a planning permission notice in the paper a week ago. Will it be operational for the 2011/2012 season ?
Yes Johnnie C NCW Rovers are in the early stages of purchasing a new ground and hope to be playing there next season.
However this will depend on how long the planning takes to go through and all the red tape that goes with it.

Rathkeale conceded soft goals and failed to break down the Avenue defence even after all the possesion they had.Avenue had a lota fellas back for most of the second half.
I think Rathkeale are playing NCW in the MJC next week.NCW are strong favourites for that.

I really don't think that Massey should be in the squad, No way is he a better player than any of the 4/5/6 attackers in the squad.(Behan,Joyce,Quaid,Riordan Lynch or Collins).IMO it is the defence that needs sorting out and maybe calling up Sheehy(NCW) for competition for Quirke. On the Oscar traynor thread someone mentioned that training balls were used during the game last week, bit embarrassing if true!!!!
I'd agree that Massey is not better than forwards already in Oscar Traynor squad!! Massey didn't look much of a threat against Ncw Rovers on Sunday... Joyce and Collins looked more of a threat against the Askeaton back line!

That would be great to see. NCW Rovers are a good club and deserve good facilities. They wouldnt be as many of their games postponed then.

I fully agree with you El Nino great to see NCW rovers being progressive and investing in a new pitch, They have come on in leaps and bounds in last few years and this will be another push in the right direction.

Does anybody know where the proposed new NCW Rovers pitch may be ? Its quite possible so ,barring relegation obviously, that there will be 3 new pitchs in the premier divison next season.Glin,Shannonside and NCW Rovers.Interesting.
I predict Glin to regroup and put a few points on the table and avoid relegation.

It's good to see rovers going forward and pushing for a new soccer field..played for them in youths and the junior team for years and they still have most of the same players and really nice fellas and good club..u heard the new location for the field is near the Irish primary school near the graveyard but that might not be true

Rovers new pitch will be up the Monagea road, in Killeline, directly opposite the Rugby grounds up there.

Don't know about that Barry!!. It will be close , both teams not playing to full potential as of yet. Saying that your record is not the best. We just seem to have that edge over ye for last 5 or 6 years now..been a while since you have beat us...But I wouldn't be taking it for granted either..Its always a great game to be invloved in and very close...May the best teaam win!!..

Tossie Butler is back training with Newcastle West afc since last week and will be signing back when the transfer window opens..Also dave o conmor is Home from Australia and will be back playing in january after an operation..two good players back playing with ncw and in the desmond league..
two good players indeed, why is butler back? cronin and madigan are playing well this season i cant see them giving up their places too easily.
I have a general question regarding the size of the goals, does anyone have any info on the exact ruling of this?
as for NCW not being able to field a youth team, sounds weird!

The correct size of the goals SHOULD be 2.44 metres ( 8ft ) height and 7.32 metres ( 24ft) width.. Not always the case as they sink in many grounds which is a bit ****ty...Hope that helps you snafu.

Cheers, no just that one club in the league has a very talented yet relatively small goalkeeper, so they have two mounds of earth on each goal line they must be about a foot in height to prevent him being lobbed etc. these mounds of earth reduce the size of the goals nd so are they against the rules????

I wont mention any names as that might cause people to get upset, i just think it might be something for the league to look into.

It's definitely Abbeyfeale's pitch, must say it's an unusual "feature" they added during the summer (don't remember it being there last year)
...but maybe it's a good alternative to the normal mud pit on the goal line you see in alot of pitches!!
I suppose Doherty will come back now as well. Its amazing how the Limerick League adventure ended quickly for most of these players eg Butler, Lynch, Riordan, Beehan etc etc. Or maybe their true loyaly to their clubs persuaded them to come back, I doubt it though.

The only thing I doubt is your knowledge of Limerick junior soccer Leon !! Behan was with Regional for 3-4 seasons Im sure.Riordan won a league and a Lawson cup medal with Janesboro the season he was in there.Lynch was with Regional for a season and a half.Did he not train wit the Junior international team after leaving them.Butler was making the team often in Regional and is thought highly of in there.Nash has a lot of goals scored for Reginal this year aswell. The Powers from NCW were not so successful with their ventures into the big smoke!
If you have any futher queries please dont hesitate to ask !

Behan played for maybe 5-6 seasons with Regional, dont think its fair to tar him with the "ended quickly" tag, i'd say travel, work committments, location has alot to do with players returning to their local clubs.

Finally somebody talking some sense!! personal commitments have a lot if not all to do with players coming back playing with there local respective teams and from what I have heard the grass isn't any greener in the "big smoke" as it was called by an earlier post anyways. I my opinion it is great for the Desmond league that these players are returning for instance look at Shannonside Behan has had a big impact since coming back for them unbeaten in the league this year a prospect that nobody would have forseen. If it means improving the league by these lads returning they should be welcomed!

Newcastle west 3-2 bunratty
Good contested game between both sides..newastle played better football on freezing afternoon. 0-0 at half time and Newcastle scored through Daniel power after a great through ball from Sean Cronin, power shot first time into the top corner... Bunratty levelled after bad defending but soon after Cronin restored the lead and and put them further ahead but soon after bunratty got one back and ncw ran out 3-2 winners -and into the open draw 5th round..
