Where in the name of jesus are they going with setting exorbitant prices like that.
A mate who has block booked for the international games requested 1 adult and 2 kid tickets and has just got a letter to say that will be 3 adult tickets at €45 each.

And he is one of those who would not get off his arse to watch an airtricity game if it was on in his front garden. but he would have gone if the kids tickets were a tenner like the form said.

The numpties in the FAI really have no clue about trying to bring people into the league games. Priced right this could have brought some barstoolers in the games aftwerwards.

Tip.

I sincerely doubt that tbh. Historically this hasn't proven to be the case. I've no real problem with fleecing people who are silly enough to wet themselves over Man U coming to town for a meaningless friendly game either.

This is a total disgrace ! It should be at least twice that price, fleece the barstool gob****es and event junkies (I just want to see the new stadium) crawling out of the woodwork to see Man U. i do not believe for one nano second that any of those attending wil be "converted" to LOI so fleece away - less money to be extorted from real fans to save the FAI ass in the future.

Agree re the prices eventhough I am going.

I really wish the first football match would be the Argentina game but will go anyway having been able to get tickets through my block booking. I'll
be wearing my Limerick shirt and supporting the Irish team which means I'll be in a tiny minority and probably end up sitting beside a diehard Manyoo fan who has all the dvds, the Ryan Giggs duvet and hasn't missed a game on Sky since football was invented in 1992 except he'll probably call it Sawker.

Yes it will be painful but will be nice to wind some of them up too.

I see that RTE are going to show that game live.. It was mentioned on mns last nite that it will be shown.

He'll have to wait and see what Irish teams are playing in Europe that week I'd imagine before announcing any squad.

Best of luck with that gspain. was at the barstool fest at Dalyer last year ( Bohs 3rd team V Liverpool 5th team) and could not face such an embarrassing game again. No cheering / singing or participating in any way until "Liverpool" scored in the 92nd minute ! Awful, awful stuff and the football equivelent of hell.
Give me a couple of hundred LOI fans (that actually care) on a wet Wednesday night any time

Can "we" not get european games postponed ? Do those uefa desk jockeys not realise "we" have a big friendly (and photo oppurtunity) on that night ?

This is gonna be great! The Airtricity team is likely to be missing some of the league's best player, hopefully through European participation. Also, why would Rovers or Bohs want any of their players involved 2 days before their big derby in Tallaght? Indeed every other club in the league has a game 2 days later. Dundalk, Sligo, Sh Rovers and Monaghan are in the League Cup semis 2 days before. And ManYoo are likely to send the reserves too, who will win comfortably against a weakened league team that will be presented as the best the "domestic" game has to offer.

Reminds me of Sunderland's trip over here when they were the New Celtic ... I think they beat Bohs by a single goal and it was mentioned that they were missing a couple of players. Bohs had basically played their reserves, but it was presented by RTE among others as a weakened Sunderland beating Bohs.

To be honest Seand it makes no difference what team Rico patches together (just please, NO bohs players ;) ) the match is about 60% Man Ure and 39% the new stadium (approx 1% with an interest in LOI team). Whatever result arises will be "spun" to favour man Ure - "weakened Utd held to draw by cream of Irish soccer". No credit will accrue to the LOI team and none of the bar stoolers will darken the doorway of any game in Ireland for the rest of the season.

As a mater of interest, anyone out there begin supporting LOI after attending a friendly ?

Couldn't agree more. Post of the year!!!
Prices should start at 300 euros with top tickets 1,000 euros.

Yeah I did. My first games in Oriel Park were in 1994 against Sheffield Wednesday and Manchester United. There was one ticket for the two games which also got you into the first three home games of the new season. My dad (a Manchester United fan) brought myself and my brother along to these too. I was 9 at the time and up until then I didn't even know there was a league in this country. We didn't immediately become diehard fans but it definitely put the club on the radar for us.

To put this in perspective, the IRFU is opening the Aviva with an U-20 match between the four provinces. There was no mention at any point in the publicity that it wasn't going to feature a single senior player, but it's already sold 40,000 tickets. I'm guessing some people are going to be very upset. So, I mean, as far as scams go the IRFU is miles ahead of the FAI.

Yeah but tickets went on sale 6 weeks ago and it was "rising stars." Bit of a step down from that to second-tier underage players.

Rico picking squad for this on friday. Nicely hedging his bets to see who's in and out of Europe. I presume he would have to contact the players in advance of naming the squad though.

As mentioned before I want NO Bohs players involved in this game as we have a very important game on the Friday - even if not playing in Europe. Presume I am not alone in that sentiment.

Were you able to hear the announcements tonight at the Juve game, ordered by the FAI, that tickets were on sale for this farce? Both times they were met with resounding boos and whistles.

apparently rumour has it the LOI clubs have been told that the players are not insured and if they're injured its tough ****, and the players were told they would be paid to play and now they are not and just given 4 free tickets each, bohs thinking about pulling their players out so should we

Sounds like complete unsubstantiated nonsense to me. If the LOI clubs had been told their players would be uninsured the entire panel would have been withdrawn immediately.

I mean the clubs may act stupid on a regular basis but if there was any grain of truth to this they'd have withdrawn all of their players immediately. This rumour is probably just a case of somebody getting the wrong end of the stick and Chinese whispers ensuing.

Haven't been on here in a while due to a long drawn out computer malfunction. Anyway all sorted now.
Not that my tuppence is needed but I remember getting my letter from the FAI after posting off the stubs for this and being disgusted at the gall of the FAI for the ticket prices of this.
I'm absolutely loving that this is getting a hard sell now.
80 bills for me and my 9yo brother was what the girl from the ticket office was telling me and then I asked about schoolboy tickets... silly me...

Compare this to last Saturday when it cost 5 quid into Croker for him! As it has been for the whole summer. God bless the season ticket.
