rumours last nite that pats are playing monaghan next w/e
anyone (magicme) able to confirm ?
Not sure, I know that we were in talks with most Premier teams about friendlies but the only confirmed ones I have at the mo are Dundalk on Fri (27th I think) followed by Drogheda on Sunday 1st March.
Derry website says they are playing monaghan away on the 24th - but derry journal says derry are playing harps away that night
anyone know? (magicme maybe?!)
See above! :p
Will ask Mick Cooke and come back to you on it but will be away for a few days so it might be Thurs when I have the info.

Is the Pat's game tomorrow a sell-out?
What kind of squad are Chelsea bringing? Any first team players at all?

Harps beat Convoy Arsenal 3-0 last night in Convoy, game against Institute called off tonight, next friendly is against Cockhill Celtic (yes very amusing I know) on Saturday. Cockhll Celtic are managed by Former Harps player Donal O'Brien.

I think it's all reserves including a former player of theirs.

No former pats players at Chelsea. Couple of players who played the weekend involved (Stoch and some other guy I don't know). Essien may be travelling too
Apologies, I thought I read it somewhere their was a former player coming back with the reserves...:o

Conor Clifford Ireland U17 captain last year is a Pats fan and playing for Chelsea. Probably what you heard/read.

Not sold out, but apparently selling well. €10 for terrace, €15 for stand
There's a bit on the Pats website with Clifford (http://www.stpatsfc.com/news.php?id=2849)(who's a terrific prospect btw) tlaking about how playing at Richmond is a dream come true. :D

good to see gints freimanis in the squad list for cork city.. it was an awful miscarriage of justice last season that he didnt play for us near the end of last season thanks to the ineptitude of certain ex town officials..:(

Galway Utd 2-2 Cork.
Att. 250 approx
Jayo and Vinny Faherty for us, Davin O'Neill and Dan Muarry for Cork.
Good entertaining friendly played on a miserably cold and wet night in Terryland. First Half was poor, more openings created in the Second Period. We had two trialists up front Declan Edwards (Stockport) and Michael McGrath (Kidderminster). Edwards will probably be joining us on loan, not sure about McGrath

Youths 0 - 0 Dundalk.
Big changes in the Youths line up and Patsy going off with a hamstring in the 1st half. Holden organising the defence throughout the game, I hope he stays.
Dundalk changed their entire team through the course of the game with only Singh looking special, but good movement all the same from the rest.
Chances were very few for either side but Dundalk should have taken the lead when the keeper was lobbed only for it to go wide.
Bring on the Shams

Good free from Cawley and very good showing by the kid Clifford.
Entertaining and very robust for a friendly.

Black&White, my views on Dundalk last night. Overall, looked more physical and with less flair than last year's team. Is this a Sean Connor trait? Couldn't really break down the 4-5-1 we played against you. Midfield seems to lack pace and penetration with only wide-man (Singh ?) looking as if he could beat a man. Mansaram - good once he gets the ball but looks very static; he could be gobbled up by a centre-half who can dominate him physically. Far less movement from Dundalk up front than from Quigley and Guy who played for Pats against us the previous week. Some good interplay down the right hand side from Dundalk but I don't think Rogers, playing left-full, did much attacking-wise. Bennion hadn't much to do but his kicking from pass-backs was shocking - sliced virtually everything. Summary - good solid physical well-organised side. Good luck with the season.

There is absolutly nothing new there then, although hes one of the best shot stoppers I'v seen and when he faces a one on one situation.

Just to develop my point a little further re Pats against Wexford, that was the problem with Pats in their 0-0 friendly against Wexford last Saturday. Quigley and Guy were fine, but watching Irish football over the years, I don't think that any team can really play two up front if neither can win the ball in the air. There is too much back to front balls at all levels of football and Quigley looks less than six foot and Guy less than five foot (joke !)
Guy's also one of the best header of the ball in the league and easily outjumps any centre half he's faced. He's not a striker though and yeah we absolutely need a big man, or at least a gary O'Neill type

Think this guy is great player.
Edit: No pun intended.

Glebe North 0- 7 Bohs.
Flodlights, pipe band and 3 trophies on show. Not bad for a friendly with a very helathy turnout for a Martin Finnegan benefit gig. GN sold c.2,000 tickets for the game. Bohs strolled through it and were 4 up at half time.
Owne Heary running the show from the back as usual.

Must be hard to make an impact on the Solihull Motors first team alright, no great surprise he's looking at coming back. In all seriousness though Mathews tried to sign him for Longford in 2007 and had verbally agreed a deal but he re-signed with Shels at the last minute. No real surprise he'd have a look if he was coming back to Ireland.

Chambers played the last 25 minutes or so. The first pre season game ive been to this year. It wasnt a great game. There were hardly any clear cut chances but it was a decent performance from Shels. The drogs will struggle this season.
