i hear what youre saying Crosby but id like to think that id never like seeing him on an Irish teamsheet or celebrating one of his goals IF he ever decided to come back. The guys an egomaniac and has messed around with the team and the fans feelings for far too long. Im happy that he is sweating now. I was delighted that this thread was off the forum for so long and that he had been forgotten about. It bugs me that a lot of people would welcome a traitor like him back so quickly and yet question the Irishness of 2g's who have represented the country with such commitment.

I guess so far the people on here have spoken against it. I am all for it but i will remember (if of course he does come back) that I wanted him to if it doesnt go well.
Obviously I can see how people think he is too mental to commit to this. BUT at this point I would take it if it gets us to Brazil, Ukraine, Poland, whatever.....

I have flip flopped on this issue for a long time. I don't think he's handled this well, and he's clearly immature or has a very low IQ. That said, this is a new campaign, and if he participates from the very beginning (training camp onwards), and does everything Trap asks him to do, I say we give him a second chance.

If he f*cks up his second chance, then at least we will know that we were reasonable about it and did all we could. He was immature with many of his decisions, but I would expect Trap to show his wisdom by giving Ireland a second chance at an international career with us. If he screws us around, at least we will know that we were reasonable and did our part to make things work.

I'm not a religious man, but I think the story of a prodigal son is a good one, and perhaps on this occasion we should embrace the return of one of Ireland's sons to give him a shot at redemption.

Exactly. There is nothing else anywhere to suggest that Ireland is considering crawling back. As far as I can see, the Stephen Ireland possible return thing has been The Star's baby for the last month or too. There was an 'exclusive' two weeks ago where it claimed that Mancini was a acting a as a mediator between Ireland and Trap. Bullsh!t imo. I wouldn't expect him back. He made his contempt for the national team clear and his obvious, spiteful attempts to upset the squad before important games (ie. the Italy game and playoff) with routine interviews where he states that he has no interest in international football/Trapattoni is arrogant etc, etc make me wonder do we ever want the little tw@t back. With Whelen, Andrews, S. Reid (hopefully!), McCarthy and possibly O'Hara, our midfield will be in good stead for the Euro qualifiers. Stephen Manchester will be busy warming the bench in the Europa League.

You assume wrong. Hughes was sacked in December 2009, not May 2009.
