Gone for one weekend and I miss everything, give us a clue there grape vine?
i here the Boro were back in the transfer market, and two big celtic players have signed up !!
Yes, Aiden McGeady and Shunsuke Nakamura.
Unfortunatley i hear the Boro must wait for the Scottish season to finish up before they are eligible to play. Should be two good squad players.

Yes, it seems that the Boro have started a new trend in paying players. Heard they have offered one ex Celtic player a great offer to play for them, dont know if he accepted it or not, but he would be mad not to. Fair play to them if they have the money why not go for it. Made a great start in the League and it could be their year if they get a few more players in (need to replace D. Flynn), maybe from Galway, that if the Heane have not them all signed up what I hear. Another club always willing to pay for talent. I myself would not be involved with Celtic if we went down this road. Paying a manager OK but paying players no way. I know Celtic would loose alot of people if this happened. Anyway they dont have the money, but fair dues to the Boro & the Heane, both have great set-ups.

How is paying a manager ok and paying players completly unaccaptable?? Its an amateur junior league, surely paying anyone is wrong?
Or as I see it, if one club is willing to pay for a manager then the next step is always going to be some other club paying players. Its an unfortunate natural progression.
Its all known as "expences" anyway, so no-one is really getting paid!!
I could be wrong, but your post is verging on a diplomatic masterpiece, albeit, I feel, written through gritted teeth.
Jump off the fence and let us all know how you really feel about the possibility of Snugboro poaching 2 of your players.!

Your club were paying those LOI players long before Boro started (if they are paying them).

Paying who out of interest? The big attraction for players who joined Celtic was that there was a big chance of them getting noticed by LOI or UK scouts due to Gavin Dykes experience and contacts within the game, NO PLAYER WAS OR IS BEEN PAID.
From this a number of players have moved on from Celtic to LOI clubs, without Gavins contacts the chances of that happening would have been a hell of a lot less.
If the Boro do get them 2 players then it will be in a very strong position to challenge for Super League honours this year.

Whilst I'm not naive enough to think that denying rumours on a messageboard will sway anyones opinion, I'm sure people have made their mind up already, here's my tuppence worth anyway.
Snugboro United are not paying any players. Our club can't afford it, our committee wouldn't support it and our management wouldn't agree to it.
SG is getting his badges paid for(offer available to all players)and he and our other coach are being reimbursed for their time. The rest of the players signed, about 6 of them wouldn't of been offered money(some of them haven't even paid there membership yet:D, so if they're getting paid, it isn't a lot!)
I don't know who the two players rumoured are(doesn't matter). I've being trying to guess but I must admit my powers of deduction have escaped me. I wouldn't disclose it anyway, nobody likes being talked about on a forum. And I've no problem with Closing Time posting these rumours on the board. Each to there own, we all have our "anonymity".
Tough game Saturday evening for the Boro, away to Westport. Don't think its in the Sports Park. They'll be well up for it after the opening day of the season. The winner has to travel to either Bangor or Belmullet, so it looks like the tougher side of the draw.

You are the only one talking Rubbish. Celtic has not paid any player. Not rubbish fact. I know the people on the committe would leave if this was to happen. If you know who did we pay and how much and who told you. Come on give us the facts as you seem to know everything if not write something you know about, what ever that is?

No one likes loosing players but you only can play 11 (14). Celtic have players from different clubs and I have no problem players leaving Celtic. I am not jumping up with Joy when they leave but thats the way it is, you have to get on with it. We tried to sign SG but could not match the Boro offer. I only know one ex Celtic player that was approached not saying that DK, DB & JC are not talking to others. Time will tell they seem to have a big war chest. Good luck to them. Not a road I would support in Celtic.

Fair point 12th man.
Heard from a reliable source that a Super League Club are being investigated by the Schoolboys after they played a player without a transfer or clearance ........
Serious repercusions if true as they would forfeit points won. :)
However they are the number One darlings of the MAFL:p and I would not hold my breath as to any sanctions being applied as they have got away with murder before and I dont expect this to change any time soon..........

So lads how does everyone see the league shaping up at these early stages??? Castlebar having taken maximum points off the bottom 2 so far but one would expect tougher tasks await them. Snugbore showing no signs of giving up top spot as yet. Manulla also going strong with 2 games in hand of the 'Boro'
Robe take on Claremorris on Thursday evening in what will be a must win game for both teams if they have any slight chance of staying in this league. Erris United are perhaps the surprise team at the moment with just 4 points out of a possible 12?!?!?!

whatever about the top the bottom is as everyone taught apart from erris? who will be the third team down there thou??
Snugboro are going well and going by this site they recruited 2 more players so getting better??
robe and claremorris game def big game for both teams and looking at results you would have to favour robe, losing 1 nil to celtic in cup in castlebar wasn't bad although id say it could have been more.
is there any games on weekend?
Maxell
14/05/2008, 5:43 PM
The third team down there looks to be erris, unless their experience gets them out of trouble...
From what i heard, they were very, very lucky to get out of bangor last saturday, eventually winning on penalties.
On the other hand, the game between claremorris and ballinrobe is a game to see who finishes bottom from the evidence of what i seen this year!

It has to be said though that this has to be the first time in the history of Football that when a Player has been proven to be illegal that no sanctions are then applied. Another first for the great brains that wear the Blazers

Good result for Snugboro, 1-0 down, got back into from a penalty.
Deserved to go 2-1 up though Rocker. Wallace went off injured reducing Celtic to 10 men for final 8 minutes. Ronan McTigue added a great third to finish the game, from 35 yards into an empty net.

In the Touhy Cup Fahy are home to Manulla B,leaving Straide and Foxford playing Kilmore but don't know who's at home in the one.
I think that Clew Bay are playing against Snugboro in the McDonnell Cup but could be wrong. The full draw is available in the Mayo League fixtures book

celtic were 3 up after 5 mins if celtics committee cant see that mr dykes time is up then they shouldnt be in charge.his team lacks commitment heart and most worryingly organisation.if he seriously wants to bring celtic to eircom league then they should be able to blow the mayo league away!!!!! not only are they a very ordinary super league team but the clubs true day to day members and supporters want this guy out of the club the bad feelin in the town towards mr dykes is incredible. castlebar and the mayo league need a good celtic team and and mr dykes is not going to provide it.its time for change if he cant see the writing on the wall then the committee should show it to him god knows its in very large capital letters.

Poor old Gavin.... Everyone's going to miss him so much... He offered something different to the local game; bug-eyed asininity, rotundity, a ridiculous accent, willingness to destroy the integrity of the game by pillaging neighbouring teams to assemble his side of obsequious mercenaries, rotundity again.... the list goes on... And for what?? A mere exorbitant salary and car package. Never again will I be able to countenance a grey sock pumped full of silage without being reminded of his contribution to Mayo football..
