ok - about to start up now - I'll set myself as unemployed and run the eL through a season - see what happens

Pluses to start with:

Sporting Fingal are in there from the start in the First Division - with a projected ground move to somewhere called "Turvey Avenue" in 2009 (first I've heard of that)

Good to see the Bohs stuff is fairly accurate - Fenlon as manager, Byrne in the squad, etc. - however, Killian Brennan is still at Derry - and the colours for the club I feel are the wrong way round - it should be black on red, not white on black

Stuff I'm not sure with:
Shels are marked down to move into Tallaght in 2009

United Park is now in Cork for some reason

Limerick 37 are marked down to move into something called "Cals Park" in 2011 - a 10,000 capacity arena

Too many other "projected ground moves" which haven't been set in stone yet - such as the Arkaga Group Stadium (wtf is that all about), and even Harristown

The "Londonderry/Derry" thing is still there - Derry City are listed as playing at "The Brandywell, Londonderry"

I'll holiday it for a year now - see what the Leagues pan out like...

Also noted that the Qualifier game for the Setanta (the 1st Division Winners vs the League Cup Winners) is in the game - which is good

No - the deadline for data was about two weeks back iirc - and i've already picked up on one transfer not gone through - the Brennan from Derry to Bohs one.

In my game Dave O'Leary is the manager of the National Team :D

Nearly ready with the 200 days update - but something else first:

ok - the European Allocation is screwed up

Shamrock Rovers somehow are playing in the Champions League

This may have been due to me starting the game in January 2008 instead of the default January 2007

But their honours don't show up as winning anything in 2007 domestically - in-fact the history section of the Premier Division lists the 2007 finishers as the three clubs which finished in those positions in real life :/

Harps squad is pretty much up to date but just looked at higgsy's profile and it says...place of birth Donegal and his nationality is Northern Irish! Outrage i tell you! :D

Don't like the look of that table anymore!

Another thing is only 3 of the players in the Harps squad are full time in the game while 16 of them are in real life and Corny Gallagher isn't in it and he is one of the full time players in real life. The team are also due to move into a 4,000 capacity stadium and its supposed to be 6,600! Oh well!

also noticed that the league games are spread over random days - some on a Friday, then about 4 on a Saturday, etc.

That could be fixed by a "Real Fixtures" file - which I'll compile in a while

Last updates will be to do with the run-in for the season - I'll holiday until about 2 series from the end of the season and go from there

You also might have to extract it using winrar if you downloaded it in a zip file.

the player attributes in FM08 are displayed by a coloured bar. Is there any way to change these to marks out of 20 like it used to be on FM07?

Yeah, go to options/preferences, then appearance and you should see an option to change it.

Someone has discovered an exploit related to the "fitness" stat in the patched 8.0.2 game - if set to a certain value it gives these kind of results (basically you get a "superhuman" team)

Needless to say I played that game - reloaded my save and continued on normally - just wanted to try the thing out :D

I was messing about with the player editor & I changed JJ O'Toole & Barry Maguire from Den Bosch so they had dual nationality - when I started a new game both were in the U21 squad straight away

Thought this was a little odd, I'd just presumed that the game would start with them not in the squad and they'd get called up as the season went on.

Probably of little interest to anyone but me but there you go!

I have a slight problem in my game and its annoying me and i don't think there is any way around it but im managing Harps and i'm trying to sign Matthew Gordon from Sligo Rovers, he is on a full time month to month contract and i put in a bid for him. That was accepted and i agreed terms with him but then i can't sign him because he is Australian and i need a work permit. But as he is already playing in Ireland why is it a problem and is there anyway around it?
I could do with him badly! :D

Its the same when it comes to Luca....as in previous games. You cant renew his contract at all and by the time you can he aint good enough anymore! Really anoying as it means u can get everyone else on full time contracts and he gets worse cause of it!

1. HOSTING A NETWORK GAME

Hosting a network game on FM08 is similar to previous versions. This
guide will take you step by step through how to get a game running.

a) Click START NEW GAME and create a game as usual.
b) Add your manager details and what team you wish to manage
c) Click on OPTIONS at the top of the screen
d) Click on PREFERENCES in the menu list
e) Select the NETWORK tab
f) Click the tickbox next to RUN AS SERVER put in a name in the NAME OF SERVER
g) Add a password in the password field if you wish to stop unwanted players from
connecting to your game.
h) Now click CONFIRM at the bottom of this screen. Now your game is running
as a server(online)
i) Click on GAME STATUS and you should see a SERVER I.P ADDRESS(numbers and dots)
j) Tell all the players who are going to join your network game your I.P ADDRESS and
password(if set).
k) Wait for all the other players to join the game(see next section)

2. JOINING A NETWORK GAME

Unlike hosting a network game, joining a net game is similar to earlier versions of CM.
This guide will take you step by step through how to join a net game.

a) Get the IP ADDRESS and password(if set) from the host of the game(see previous section)
b) Open up FM07 and click on NETWORK
c) Click on JOIN OTHER SERVER and then enter the IP ADDRESS that you got
in step (a) now click OK.
d) This should now take you to the network game where you can now click on
ADD MANAGER to begin. If you fail to connect, look at the COMMON PROBLEMS below.

Are you or other players getting a "Cannot Connect to Server" message? Check out the following points:

1. Get the host of the game to check that they have followed the above instructions exactly. A common
error is not pressing CONFIRM after ticking the "Run as Server" box.

2. Make sure all players have the same version(same patches installed etc.). If not then players
with a different version than the host will not be able to connect. Download the latest patch
from Sports Interactive - The creators of the Championship Manager series and developers of Football Manager 2005, NHL EHM and OOTP:FE.

3. If you are using a router or a firewall then you need to open the ports 10093 and 10094 (UDP and TCP).
Refer to the documentation for your router/firewall for instructions on how to do this or
visit PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall.

4. HINTS & TIPS

1. It is recommended that for network games you have ‘Move Matches for TV’ un-ticked in your
preferences. This speeds up play of the game as all players will be playing their matches
at the same time, causing less waiting time for everyone. It is important that not only the
host, but all clients have this option unchecked at all times.

2. You may also wish to agree on a set amount(and dates) for pre-season friendlies. This allows
all players to prepare their team without causing huge delays for the other players.

3. It is recommended that you have contact to all your players on an instant messaging service,
like MSN or AIM. This means that if players are disconnected or cannot connect you can address
the issue more efficiently.

Its simple to do really.
First you need to create a folder called pictures in the FM08 folder in my documents

download the kits and badges from a site, then extract (using winrar/winzip) to:

mydocuments\si\fm08\pictures

When in the game, go to preferences, and select "always reload skin on confirm"
deselect "use skin cache"

That should do it! :D

Oh yeah and you don't need a patch of any sort.

I finished 2nd bottom in the Premier with Harps in 2010 season with Athlone finishing bottom and Dundalk just above me so Athlone were relegated automatically. I was in a play-off with Dundalk which i won 3-2 so i thought that i had stayed up... then i realised that it was me who had to play the promotion/relegation play-off against Bray who finished 2nd in the First Division and i lost this 3-2 after both legs. Really annoying. It should have been Dundalk playing them and not me! :mad:

Should it not be the case that you don't play Dundalk but rather automatically play Bray?
