Clerks, Chasing Amy, Mallrats, Dogma , Clerks 2
Not obscure but not exactly mainstream either

Saw Hairspray last week. Really Enjoyed it. Any film that has John Travolta in a female fat suit dancing with Christopher Walken has to be worth seeing anyway.
Would be a good "date" film.
Going to Die Hard 4 tonight. Heard it's good. any comments?

You heard right. A hacker-oriented plot, but if that doesn't bother you, it's good fun.

I'd second those sentiments, and add that Jason Bourne > James Bond

Ichi The Killer - The most violent film EVER!!
London To Brighton - Class
Zodiac
Layer Cake
Black Snake Moan - Starts off a bit weird, but very good when it gets going
Fearless
Blood Diamond
Catch A Fire
The Last King Of Scotland
London To Brighton - Class
I enjoyed that alright, first proper British gangster movies in ages, and it felt good to be rid of Guy Ritchie's stereotypes

Just watched Being John Malkovich for the first time in a few years and it still blows my mind.
Charlie Kaufman + Spike Jonze = Movie Heaven.

I enjoyed Ultimatum and it's the first movie I've seen this summer that was above average. I don't think it surpassed number 2 but it was still enjoyable. ****ed all over the so called summer blockbusters.

If that kind of thing is your bag then I recommend "Once Upon A Time In America" with De Niro and James Woods, if you haven't seen it. Superb film. Pees all over the Godfather trilogy in my view.

Seeing as Ingmar Bergman won't be making any more films i was wondering what forum members think of his films.
I've seen "The Seventh Seal" and "Persona".
Seventh Seal was quite good I thought. A fairly simple story about life and death.
Persona is bit tougher going. Only 2 characters and long sections of dialogue but very good and one to make you think.

Maybe it's the aussie accent but I thought it was really poor.
Acting isn't too great.

Wolf creek was disturbing........based on a true story (apparently)
Wolf creek was disturbing........based on a true story (apparently)
Was talking to an Aussie about that, and whilst the incident is based on a true story (i.e. the backpackers getting lost, and one of them being arrested for what happened) he said that the bushman story is kinda like a boogeyman tale over there and he's not sure the movie should have represented it as based solely on one story

Wouldn't normally be a horror fan but thought the American and Japanese versions of "The Ring" were good and of course "The Shining" is a classic.

I liked Wolf Creek. Freaky alright but there are too many horrors out there that are not really scarey. Actually theres very few that are.
I was very dissapointed by Ring. I liked The Grudge though.

Watched Wolf Creek last night and to be honest it was ****e. Not very disturbing at all, just another slasher movie. Disappointed really.
The Grudge was a good movie and I also loved the Ring.

Same here watched about 45-50 min and turned it off, a boring run of the mill slashed flick

on Horror movies, I have seen nothing that put the scare on me since i first saw the original version of "the omen" and also (probably cause i was a nipper at the time) the firstntime i saw "the exorcist". by the way, a channel 4 documentry from the 90's on the making f the exorcist was even scarier!strange goings on!! Nothing really memorable since. I dont like, what i would call fantasy horrors, such as the grudge/ring etc. I prefer things that deal with the occult, paranormal as I have a small belief in such things!! (damn u catholic ireland, uv turned me into a bi tch):D
