Watched the Assassination of Jesse James - pretty good.

Notwithstanding his alleged good looks, Brad Pitt can act - he is excellent in this - he has a menace and understated darkness that prevades.

The scene stealer however is Nick Cave - top drawer

Thought the scenestealer for me was Sam Rockwell who I thought was fantastic in it , obviously Affleck and Pitt were very good too

Hmmm... I have heard this from a view others, and it is clearly a valid view - irrespective of the vehicle, I thought he was very good in it.

I enjoyed the vehicle also but can see where you are coming from

I thought this film was brilliant. altho I could understand it wouldnt be everyones cup of tea. Not really a fan of Pitt but the star of the film was Casey(?) Affleck. The way the tension was built up all thru the film was great. Enjoyed it a lot more than No Country for Old Men.

yea i'd agree with you, that's the best performance i've seen him give. the film has lost a little of its oomph after all this time but his role is very well done.

Anyone watch Sidney Lumets(my fave director) BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOUR DEAD with Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Marissa Tomei, Ethan Hawke and Albery Finney?

Most reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes gave it a great review altough a couple felt it tried too hard.Personallly though while its no classic, its def worth watching.

yeah I watched it on DVD a few weeks ago. Very good movie, some nice twists and a solid 7 out of 10 for me. Hoffman and Hawke are both excellent.

Very good isnt it, its the best film ive seen this year. Think its portugese if you like that watch Pans Labyrinth its the one he made before the Orphanage and its even better.

no they are two different movies. The orphanage has just been released on DVD.
