Hmmm... Looking good! What's the average age?!!
Will it just be a training session on Sunday? And did you book it yet?

Sorry i never got back onto you Superfrank. I think i'll take the join at a later date option alright.
That's grand. Glad to have more numbers.
I'll be booking one of the five-a-side astro cages in UCD. I know the eleven-a-side one's better but there'll only be about 11/12 on Sunday so imo it's a waste to splash out on a big pitch and everyone'll be knackered. I'll book it tomorrow as I haven't heard back from anyone on a UCD student card so it'll be full price, €50 (under €5 a head).
Any time preferences? If I don't hear anything about this by 1pm tomorrow I'll go ahead and book it for 3pm on Sunday.

Don't worry, you're down on the "to join later" list.
Plus I think boards beat a foot.ie selection 6-0 so before we pay out the huge money required to join we should make sure we're gonna have a committed side.
Last year we played a regular playing Dutch side who were familiar with each other and only lost by two goals and the same with the boards side..only me, Anto and Bluebeard have played in both, so we hadn't played together as a team before and we were always going to lose heavily..
That's why Sunday if it gets going is more about becoming familiar
That along with the talent and fitness deficiencies of course:D

The game against boards.ie was 6-2 i think with only a goal or 2 in it at half time, which considering they'd all played together regularly, had the right footwear and were a hell of a lot fitter wasn't as bad as it sounds.

Just had an email from Astro there. Here's the base of what they said to me:
Astro Soccer League
2007/08 Dublin Winter 11 a side League
Starting the week of September 24th 2007.
Teams consist of 11 players with unlimited subs allowed.
Subs may come on and off at any stage, subject to certain restrictions.
Divisions consist of 10 teams with each team playing the others twice per season.
Teams select the standard, vennue and night(s) of their games based on choices available on our site once registration is open.
To join the league, fees must be paid online or a credit card provided to hold the place.
All games are refereed by qualified referees.
All games are one hour in duration.
All games are played on synthetic pitches at the venues specified below.
Games are played, weekday evenings from 6:30pm - 11:00pm.
All results, fixtures, tables, reports etc... are held on our web site (http://www.astro.ie).
There are great prizes at the end of each season.
At the end of each season there is a presentation night for all teams.
The entry fee is:
- Euro 1350.00 + 13.5% VAT (Euro 1532.25) League Fees

Three Rock Rovers Hockey Club, Rathfarnham.
Corinthians Hockey Club, Whitechurch.
Iveagh Grounds, Crumlin.
AUL Grounds, Clonshaugh.

_________________________________________
Any questions please contact us at dublin@astro.ie
If my maths are right, it breaks down around €100 a head for the whole season. €1832 divided by 20 =c.€91
Registration is in August.
Most of the college lads would be back in Dublin by then.

I think we should hold off til the summer season tbh. Remember we'd have to buy a whole set of gear as well which would cost a bit

Yep thats right we began to feel it in the second part of the second half.

Agree with Leixlipred on this also 3 o' clock Sunday is good for me anyway.

It sounds a good idea - figure out a regular squad through a few games between yourselves, and play a good few friendlies during the Winter if possible (watch as the numbers dwindle in the wet!). Fund raise at the same time, and come the Summer season, you should have people interested, "Fit" and enthusiastic, plus the money for the kit will be raised, and by then someone should have tricked dahamsta into getting his internet empire to sponsor the team.
only me, Anto and Bluebeard have played in both, so we hadn't played together as a team before and we were always going to lose heavily..
I reckon that it wasn't just as a team that some of us hadn't played before:eek:
Present company clearly excepted, of course

Well, let's see how the general consensus goes.
The problem with joining a summer league is a lot of the players joining later are ones that wouldn't be able to play in the summer in the first place, so we're cutting a 6/7 players out of the team straight away.

Just got off the phone with UCD. All the pitches are free on Sunday but we have to pay on booking, in other words Sunday.

Looking at the Superfrank, even if one or two drop out we could still have a decent side, especially seeing as we can sub on - sub off as much as we want!

I've decided to join the boards.ie side for the new season so hopefully there wont be a clash as I'll choose boards over this one. The manager is a mate so I'd feel bad otherwise. Fully committed otherwise. See you all Sunday

Yeh it was a good game alright. Couple of decent players on show (and Mohammed of course :D). Buller and the young bray lad (not sure who on here he is) were impressive. Nice to meet all of you anyway, but if we're entering a league we'll need to up it a bit. Pessimistic me as usual :D

We still should've charged him! :D
the seagull is the other lad. We definitely have some good attacking options and a keeper, that's always a bonus.

Dunno how available my mate Phily would be for playing in a league but he's always up for a game of ball anyway
