Surely wrong?

The criteria used to reach our co-
efficient of 2.833 is quite complicated
but the upshot is that this season's
champions will be seeded for the
Champions League qualifiers, while, if
it's Derry or Shels, they could go
straight into the second qualifying
round.

Surely wrong?
Yes (what a shock!). The country coefficient decides what round teams enter at.

That Cummins fella would want to stick to rating the music at games & leave the coefficients to others more informed.

Posted this in thread on Emmet Malone's article in the IT but then figured it might be better suited in here :o

This page (http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/data/method3/ccoef2007.html) gives the ranking based on just this year and includes the teams that are still involved in Europe from each country - i.e. those with the possibility of gaining more points. We're currently 17th with only 6 countries below us still involved. Scotland, Greece and Israel would be expected to get results and pass us out as all have multiple teams in group stages.
However, there's a good chance that Austria (Austria Wien - need to score 7 points!), Serbia (Partizan Belgrade - need to get 4 points) and Poland (Wisla Krakow - need to get 3 points) might not get enough to get past which would put Ireland into the top 20 this year. Either way, at worst we'll be ranked 23rd - putting us above both Norway and Sweden.
