Is he still expecting big wages?? There is no reason whatsoever he cant play for a good Championship club.

Still no word on his situation. How long did Stephen Carr sit out before he got picked up?

Carr actually retired as far as I know and Alex McLeish just happened to give him a phone call.

Any word on steve? He's never officially retired so somewhat odd he hasn't had a club in a year.

His contract was up in 2010 and the club didn't offer him a new deal. Being in administration might have had something to do with it.

As an aside, bit of an outlandish top search suggestion for Finnan on Google.co.uk...

Has any Irish player in recent memory dropped off the radar quite as spectacularly as Steve Finnan. An FA Cup final appearance in 2010 and then gone! He was only 34 and had played a bit in his final season too... Did he just fall out of love with it all or what?

For a defender with a fair few injuries behind him, it's hardly 'only 34'. He was never a very public type, I'd say after Portsmouth he took a look at what offers were available, and quietly retired.

Seems to be the case alright. I'd class him as one of our most under-rated and under-utilised players (shunted out on the left or left on the bench) of the last 15 years or so.
Met him and Kenny Cunningham up in Fillys/Club 92 YEARS ago. They were both drinking orange juice and were really really lovely fellows, even being interrupted on their night to ask about their injuries by a slightly drunk young man in his early 20s. I often think we should have a game, or a show of appreciation for a number of players who have retired in the last few years.

Steve Finnan is working for Finnan Developments in London according to a newspaper report I saw yesterday. I will look for it later today and attach it then.

Seems himself and his brother Sean are directors of the company. Liverpool Echo should probably contact him through:

Steve Finnan was never missing, it's just that no one was able to locate him.

Yesterday, the Liverpool Echo reported that the organisers of an event to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Liverpool's 2005 Champions League victory were able to contact every member of the squad except for Steve Finnan. The paper event started a hashtag, #FindSteveFinnan, to aid his location.

In the end though, the former Liverpool and Ireland right back was not on some Don Draper-esque hobo tour, he was in London all along.
