Tbf I would have said closer to 200 LTFC fans but the stadium was dead because Rovers were playing a half team.at best and the game was over before it began. With 10 mins ro go the first chants from the rovers support started as we realised we didn't want extra timw.

I watched it and Longford played very well and it most definitely was not a cert that Rovers would have won only for the second penalty. Extra time you expect Longord would have ran out of steam

And I'm not saying Longford deserved to win but when you're in our position you'd be daft to go all out gung-ho against the strongest team in the country and not have a game plan. Played very will relatively considering our position and it took 2 penalties for ye to finally settle it. But for that the game was destined for ET. Im not having a go at Longford you came and competed and brought a decent support but Bradley bringing on 4 and then a fifth Mandroiu after 60 and 65 mins was exactly what i meant by the game being over before it began.

We were always going to start with a second 11 and if needed empty the bench to win which is exactly what happened, we hit the bar/post 2 if not 3 times and had clearences off the line AS WE SHOULD against 1st Division oposition.
That being said with 15 minutes to go we were a mistake away from being in deep doodoo but the quality off the bench did what was expected , i appreciate it was a Pen but people make mistakes when they are under pressure and thats what happened

I think it does suffer from a lack of atmosphere. Maybe it's partially to do with the layout of the stands, the open corners, but it's not just the ground that causes it. It's also the location, in a new build area, well away from the city centre and not the easiest to get to (unelss by car), beside a dual carriageway, and there aren't any pubs too close to it either (Maldron is a sad place).
It's not a unique thing to Tallaght, mind. Espanyol's RCDE and Atlético's Metropolitano, and Estadio Algarve (and loads more new grounds) all suffer from the same thing.

There's always existed a feeling amongst some Derry fans that we should move out of the Brandywell. And I'd be all for it if the location was within walking distance of the city centre, but the only place suggested so far is at the edge of town, where the new academy is going. Yes, we could have a nice big car park, but we'd lose a lot of the match day experience.

Exact same with Dundalk. A move away from Oriel to a new stadium would be great but nowhere is possible within walking distance of town

I've often been in a pub on a Friday before Oriel, and you could get chatting to people not from the area and they would walk up to Oriel when they heard was a game on. If we moved out of town things like that are done

Its a pity with Tallaght considering theres a luas line close to hand bringing fans to the city centre but the distance doenst help imo.

Think Colin Fortune should be managing the mens team there. Think it would make a difference. When Dundalk appointed Ciaran Kilduff from Athlone ladies he had no issues with adjusting. I would love to get Athlone town fans opinions but the old crew that used to post here are long departed from the club and here too

That's actually a great shout but if I was Colin id be happy where I am, arguably the best team in the country right now, playing in Europe and capable of attracting players from abroad. The men's team are clearly no longer a priority at the club.

Bray seem to be getting great crowds after such a long time of not being able to connect with the local population. What is driving this? They do have some nice match day facilities and close proximity to the Dart. Having moved myself to Wicklow a number of years ago, there is no doubt a lot of people have moved down from Dublin and maybe looking for a football fix.

Ah in fairness it's a legit question - the Lansdowne game was such an outlier that it's entirely fair to see what the average for Dalymount is. And it's up slightly on previous seasons, which is good.

And it would be equally legit to see what impact moving to Pearse has on Galway's attendances if that comes to pass.

All it really tells you is that the demand for Bohs tickets hasn't dropped below capacity, which in itself is good I suppose. Dalymount's home capacity of less than 4k is restricting us from knowing what our "true" demand is. Our home crowds in Dalymount can't increase without ground development, they've been sold out for 4 years now. The only real wriggle room is in away crowds.

Granted a non Bohs fan wouldn't necessarily know that. It's frustrating to not know what our level is. Would demand drop if it wasn't sold out every week... maybe? Would demand still be higher than current capacity... seems likely but can't say definitively. Oddly, the 6k+ figure seems about right to me for where we'd be in a more suitable sized ground but that's just a man guessing on the internet. You want a ground big enough to sell out for big games but be able to handle fluctuations and not feel empty.

The extent of the interest in Bohs has flummoxed me a bit. The only thing our "Dalymount average" (from a home crowd perspective) tells you is that we're still restricted from knowing what the average number of people who want to go to Bohs matches across a season is. It's a poor metric unfortunately, doesn't tell you much.

Wow, wasn’t expecting a wound up response like this one off the back of a simple question :) If for arguments sake Pats against Shels had’ve been in the Aviva on the opening day of the season I’d have asked Nigel what the Pats average attendance was if you replace the Aviva crowd with a sold out Richmond too given I wanted to know the average of the regular home league games rather than including the one off game in a stadium with over 10x capacity which a load of neutrals attended. Hope you can accept that ‘utter nonsense’

Mad to think that the worst average crowd in the PD is 2,300 (and for the cup holders). Not too long ago that would've been the best average crowd in a season, not the worst.
