Who needs a new stadium that keeps the rain off when people flock to games in the open wind swept grounds in the rain and abandon LoI when its sunny and warm. Makes no sense to me as there is nothing better than being at a game basking in the sun, European game feel, - closely followed by a crisp frosty night wrapped up under the floodlights and heading in to the club lounge to thaw out after!

I guess people reckon good weather is rare enough but Dundalk or whoever will always be there!

Yikes!!! Youve just described the Dundalk public perfectly....

Ach I get it, a family trip to the beach when weather tips above 12c or head to the football, the argument isnt worth it. Things is kids generally hate the beach, men look bored, water is always freezing, east coast and its smelly pond water, sand everywhere for the rest of the year no matter how much the car is hoovered and people are power hosed....ugh!

1,428 in Oriel Park tonight.

Half the town at the Mary Wallopers in Malahide, or loads just couldn't prize themselves away from the BBQ or just couldn't be bothered, lowest of the season and around 1,300 down on opening night v Athlone.

FD is not getting the love it seems............................

Cork will sort that out when they trade places with you there for next season.

Even allowing for a Monday KO, must be sometime since you'd a league attendance under 2k?

Maybe there's a logic to having these games on Monday night, as they'll sell out regardless.

It's one of the worst attendances in a long time only matched by the terrible league position.

Effectively 14 points behind 8th and therefore little chance of anything but a playoff. Meaning all other matches are meaningless.

And paying €25 for pleasure.

Err I think if you ask any Drogheda fan they’ll tell you how finishing 9th instead of 10th last season was quite meaningful ;)

Yes, but actually getting the playoff spot is quite obviously meaningful, which means all of Cork’s matches are meaningful at the moment

That doesn't make any sense. You have to get to the play off spot first meaning all your remaining games are quite meaningful.

The playoff match will be a formality. No first division team is winning it.

They invited all the cabo schoolboy teams down plus Parents for free and the club cabo pushed it. Not putting it down they were right to push it as the crowd against UCD would have been brutal, just giving a bit of context

1,487 was the official attendance in Oriel. Having been at both games, it's implausible that there were only two more than last Friday against UCD. It was clearly at least 400 people more than last week.

I was speaking to PA guy on way out, he actually asked for it to be re-checked when it was passed to him to read out, there has been some very poor calls in recent years on the 'official' crowd but this was up there with one of the worst, it was 1,800 abs min and not too far off 2k more to think of it. One of our crew who doesn't have a ST got in 8 mins late due to only 3 hatches open to buy tickets.

The playoff match will be a formality. No first division team is winning it.

I never understand this assumption. Nothing formality about it. It's a one legged game, anyone can cause an upset in those. You'll have a first division team who should be used to winning the majority of the season vs the premier team who will have lost the majority of games. If you look at the last 10-12 years, it has been majority first division teams who won, and that's going back to when the final was (and should still be imo) 2 legged.

Last year Drogheda just became exceptional in the 2nd half of the season and Bray hadn't a prayer. But if I'm Cobh in October looking at Sligo, I'd be saying there's a chance here

Hmmm - wasn't he specifically used in promoting the game? Yet it seems he was never going to play based on that

Be bit ****ed off to have bought a ticket to see the local Irish international play only for there to be no sign of him

That said, I'm never overly sympathetic of the 20k extra people who turn up for a pre-season friendly like this anyway

Just some thoughts on the First Division attendances, I guess Dundalk had a big away following at Bray to make up the announced 1712 attendance?
Wexford home attendances are doing very well, 689 for the visit of bottom club Athlone!
Poor Treaty home attendance for the visit of high flying Cobh as they are average about 1,100!

Any reasons why?
