Edp capacity is 4,300 cut from 5,000 when the engineers did their last report . The game was a sell out counting unused season tickets.

Its a shame that these seats, paid for, but are left empty on a match night. It cant be that hard to organise a scheme where season ticket holders can 'share' their spot when not using their ticket. Do Bohs have such a system in place - it would a legitimate way to sell something twice!

We don’t and it is something that could be very be beneficial in allowing more supporters of the club to get to see the team play in Dalymount.

The 507 reportedly from the Kingdom, according to your match programme editor.

Kerry brought a big support.
Most would have come from the Tralee area and thats quite a bit further up the road the either Limerick or Waterford

It's the Treaty attendance of almost 2K which caught my eye GW1.

Would be interesting to see how big a crowd they could get if they were contending at the top and playing at home against Cork City .

Close to a sell out you would imagine if it was towards the end of the season but the markets field I think only holds about 4k

Sure doesn’t look it from the main stand but guessing a decent amount of people in the stand where the cameras are.

Had an eye on this and it didn't look it. Unless very big crowd camera side

I didn't think 1,600 were there at all. There were about 130-150 Harps fans in the away section, and another 60 or 70 Longford fans the other side of the camera. There's no way there were 1,400 in the main stand. Would have said about 800-900 in total at a guess.

Either way, it's as good a crowd as I've seen in Longford for a while. I know there were a lot of Harps fans in the main stand too, because you couldn't sit in the seats in the away section because they were so rotten. I have seen some fairly rough attendances from Longford in the past, so it was good to see a decent crowd in there.

My guess was around 1000-1100 from where I was in the stand. But the club I believe do everything very much by the book these days so maybe..

There very obviously wasn't anywhere close to 1600 there, checking my photos quickly to ensure that I hadn't gone mad and that figure is almost double the actual attendance, however it was quite a healthy crowd by Longford standards and another decent turnout in a good opening first division week.

Pleasantly surprised with the crowd we brought last night...150/160 at a conservative estimate

And would have been considerably more only for an awful lot of people deciding not to travel when the weather was so poor during the day

With way fixtures fall next week will be a fall next from 25k in prem, probably 20k.
First, Harps likely be best attended next week, my guess is 6 to 7k

Nigel by any chance do you have attendances dating back to when you started these threads in a spreadsheet? It'd be great to see the on a line graph. Not just to see overall (recent) growth but for individual clubs, emphasising where growth is and where it isnt eg Dundalk pretty much flatlined. Its cheeky to ask but easier to extrapolate if the numbers are in spreadsheets rather than trawling back over the end of season post for each season?

If they get a lend of Longford's calculator it might land there alright.

I have a good few years, there's one or two spreadsheets that disappeared but should be able to throw something together.

Good attendances. Problem now is that the rate of growth cannot be sustained due to restrictions in capacity. Need government investment in the grounds.

I asked one of the stewards as i was curious myself and he said 650, it looked like that kind of number as well.

It was hard to tell when we were in the crowd how big it was but it definitely seemed bigger than I had expected. That’s a decent turnout for us considering the negativity around the club and the general feeling that this game was a foregone conclusion. Add to the fact that it was on RTE.

I know its hasnt been a big thing for Galway in the past, but can definitely see the Dublin and Louth away fixtures getting Dubline based Galway people enthused. Waterford and Derry might be a struggle, and of course they'll all want tickets for Sligo

Last season Shamrock Rover passed 100k at league games, other than Cork not possible for anyone else yet to do that as capacities below 6k.

i think Rovers might hit 130k for league games this year - say average of 9k for 6 Dublin derbies, 6 games at 7k and 6 games at 6k. With Pats likely second in Prem attendaces of 85-90k, bit of a chasm opening up in income from gate receipts and match nights.

That financial chasm will grow additionally if clubs have to self fund or match funding of stadia while DCC/SDCC Munster and Galway FAs etc carry the financial burden for some clubs.

Way it goes alright. Great to get a grant of 5m, but to claim a grant of 5m might mean spending 7m and financing 7m while being built and the balance for years afterwards - thats a massive ask if club owns the ground, and not feasible for most of our clubs.

But how long will it take for 'rent' to pay back the millions it cost to develop Tallaght for example. Its an expense for sure but hardly capital project expense. Dundalk pay rent and Id happily pay an increase if someone builds a new stadium.

At least 150 of that would have been Dub based DFC fans, possibly even more as loads would also work in the city and commute. Good to hear in any case re the 650.

Already mentioned, but I`m also curious, why would Dub based Galway fans not go, 50 mins from the Airport on M1, surely you will take a few hundred, even 200?

It's a disappointing turnout regardless of how bad the weather is.

Can foresee a sellout on Friday between Treaty bringing big away numbers and an increase in home fans. Only issue is very few will be able to actually watch the game.
