Don't the FAI own the ground! They are never going to not give themselves a licence.

I could be wrong but for some reason my head tells me the FAI own United Park, Coleman’s Park and Ferrycarrig. Ironically two (Ferrycarrig and Utd Park) of those grounds need serious work.

Ferrycarrig is jointly owned by the FAI and Wexford Football League.

[QUOTE=EatYerGreens;2143496]
Up until they won the FAI Cup in 2005 and the 8 or so years that followed that they were neither particularly successful nor particularly well-supported as a club. QUOTE]

I would regard winning the league in 2007 as 'successful'.
Their current average is 1,973, bigger than anything in the first division, except for Waterford. Drogheda is very much a 'soccer town' - the club brought a huge amount of supporters to the 2005 Cup Final, which had by far the biggest attendance in years - over 24,000. Any time they get to a Cup Final, it's a big occasion for the town.
They've never been a successful club, with nothing like Dundalk's history, and the fans are particularly fickle. I've always enjoyed the atmosphere in United Park, but , apart from more seating being installed, it hasn't really changed much since the club moved there in 1979. Average crowds should be better, and probably would improve if they were playing in a decent stadium.

Hard to estimate a crowd when your amongst it but my thought upon a quick nosey was about 200 for Derry. There was some older fans and families given access to the end block of the wee curved roof stand due to the weather. The rest of us just got drenched within about 30 seconds!

25 Finn Harps fans at the RSC as per Nigel in another thread and I was in next section to them and agree with that.

Very hard to tell but I'd say at least 200 Galway United fans in Athlone. Because of the location of that fixture a lot of people who wouldn't normally travel to away games go to that one so the away crowd is spread out a bit more. Even looking at their other home attendances you could argue maybe up to 500 of the crowd were there supporting us.

I would have said up to 500 Galway fans in Athlone . Biggest away crowd we’ve brought to the new stadium in Athlone

Can safely guess that there was more Galway than Athlone fans at it!

Did you mistype the Bohs one? Bohs are bringing 350 to Derry on monday. I'd say there was at least 400 there tbh. Open to correction. We sold out whatever the initial allocation was and then a few more were released. Not entirely sure if this second tranche was sold out but it was close.

No, I do check some of the Facebook/Twitter accounts of clubs, LOITV viewing, match reports, online images from games, comments from fans who have attended a game and anyone who cares to offer genuine advice and suggestions. So, I disagree with your post and think the figures are reasonably close. By the by I usually attend home games at both Cork City & Cobh Ramblers whenever possible, so I think I have a reasonable connection to the league here! :)

So where does the figure of 150 Bohs fans come from then when they obviously had a lot more?

Sligo fans had two sections of the main stand (barrel roof) I would say 90% of seats taken, if anyone who knows Tolka well can put a figure on that estimate. On the bus into town with me I noticed a German father and daughter (who had a new Shelbourne cap on) so a bit of extra revenue there for the club. Do Dublin clubs get much "tourist fans" to their games I wonder. You would notice some at Galway games, but would Dublin with the huge number of flights into the city, could there be a potential target market there?

Pretty much every home game in Inchicore you tend to see a few groups of tourists from the likes of Germany/Holland/England/Scotland, usually a group of lads over for a stag do or just a weekend on the pints in general and the Germans/Dutch are always shocked to find out that you can’t get served a pint to bring with you onto the terraces, but that’s a whole other debate for another day/thread :)

The Maine Stand has an approximate capacity of close to 2,000 with the usual away allocation of 200, so lets estimate the Sligo fans were numbered between 150+ ?

What is away the capacity of each club? I believe where possible it has to be 10% percentage of the ground capacity? But is that actually the case throughout the league?

A good question that, I know the away end of the RSC has been reduced considerably, makes sense since Cork aren't going to fill it this year, I'd say roughly 200 is the current allocation.

Pats is around 1150 with the shed end behind the goal and section A of the main stand. Tallaght was around the same for us and Shels was around 800 last year.
