I know you’re biased on this Razor and I actually agree that if he were to go to any big club as an 18 year old and be handled well and with care it would be United (or Arsenal), but this is not the time for Ferguson to move. He has more to learn, more to do and a chance to do it at a high level and at a progressive and exceptionally well run and club. The big move will come and it’ll come when the timing is better for him - and hopefully it is to United (for your sake!)

Ah yeah, there's no doubt I am biased, but I'm finding myself watching more Brighton games these days than United because of Ferguson so it would be great if I could combine the two LOL.

Incidentally I just read that he's not ruled out for the cup semi final in Wembley. If he got winner against United there the transfer momentum could go into overdrive

He's a great man for getting badly injured - where the video is obvious it's a bad injury and the scan coming back clean. It's a decent knack to have - if you're gonna get injured, let them be minor ones

Puts pen to paper on a new five year contract. Can see him overtaking Welbeck as first choice striker next season.

Five year deal, still only 18. Great for the player and the club. He'll probably move for crazy money in two years.

Has he not already taken over from Welbeck as the starting striker? I know there are some games when Welbeck starts but when everyone is fit I think Ferguson has been the main starter at this point.

From my vantage point Brighton seems to rotate them. Often one will start, and the other will come on for the last 30 minutes or so. Then the next match they switch roles. Anyway, congratulations to Evan. Excited to continue following his journey.

Had he been fit for the semi final he probably would have started imo but both lads were rotating in and out of the starting XI once Welbeck was back fit again. Welbeck even starting back to back games recently and was picked to start against Spurs rather than Ferguson.

I know Bohs have a "Bazunu clause" with any future transfers for Ferguson - is 10% the standard rate in such contracts?

This is ultimately good news for Bohs right? He's less likely to leave in the short term but with a long term deal means his asking price will be higher for longer.

Yeah, that's definitely the way i see it - and partly why i think it is best for him to stay at B&HA and keep getting better. It could put the Doherty money in the ha'penny place.

Did Rovers have anything on Baz?

Despite De Zerbi's hopes and prayers, Ferguson is not in the squad for today's game v Wolves. Collins on the bench for the visitors.

While I'd expect Ferguson will be back in around the team as soon as possible Brighton coped pretty well in his absence yesterday.

Agree. Though I only watch when Ferguson is playing, Brighton play some great stuff. He's lucky to be learning his trade in such an environment and Brighton are lucky to have him.

Wolves were so bad yesterday. Brighton had their three best players on the bench and tore them asunder. Pity Ferguson was injured as he'd have gotten himself a couple of goals.

They played against better opposition in Man United last weekend and the gap was wide. I didn't see Undav yesterday but he looked well off the standard against United in a couple of heavy touches and even Welbeck's couldn't replicate Ferguson's movement to link up with Mitoma.

Hopefully Ferguson can add a goal or more to his tally across the remaining 7 games which includes every team in the current top 4- City, United, Arsenal and Newcastle.

Undav cost Brighton a place in the final. Horrible miss late on against United

Made his return today as a half time substitution and could have had himself a hat trick. Two fantastic saves from Pickford and the third was a decent save but better contact from Ferguson I think he would have scored.

Pity - would have been the third youngest player to score a Premier League hat trick if he'd managed it (behind Owen and Fowler)

But has sent them well on the way to a win which confirms European football for the first time ever for Brighton. Has an interesting season ahead!

Really the only strikers in the Premier League to do anything like this at 18 years old in the last 10+ years are Rashford and Greenwood at Man United. It was common enough in the early days of the league to have 18 year old regular starting strikers but it's almost unheard of these days. He's a phenomenal talent for his age - hopefully he has plenty of improvement in him also as he gets older.

Man Utd academy director bemoans ‘£50m-plus mistake’ as Red Devils ‘earmark’ £100m starlet

...
And he is already attracting interest (https://www.football365.com/news/mac-allister-to-liverpool-and-ferguson-to-man-utd-among-big-seven-moves-for-brighton-stars) from a number of clubs with Sky Sports claiming that (https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12887336/evan-ferguson-man-utd-and-tottenham-identify-brighton-striker-as-future-target) Man Utd and Tottenham ‘have earmarked’ him ‘as a strong candidate to lead their line in the long-term and have laid down groundwork to pursue him next summer’.

...
On Man Utd interest in Ferguson, Sky Sports added:
...
‘Brighton believe if Ferguson continues his trajectory he can turn into a £100m player, a view echoed by at least two European sporting directors, one of whom likened the variety in the Republic of Ireland international’s game to Harry Kane.’

Annoyingly he is only on bench today. Brighton really are taking the squad rotation to extremes in the last few weeks with him and Welbeck alternating starts every game. No doubt he'll come on in the 60th minute as usual.

The rotation is probably good for him long term but I still dont think Ive ever watched him play 90 minutes and it gets annoying from selfish fans point of view when you just want to watch him play

Was particularly looking forward to the Ferguson v Haaland battle given they seem to be way in front in terms of minutes per goal/assist

Haaland will probably come off at the same time Ferguson comes on

Man Brighton are such a good team to watch. Enciso with an absolute worldie of a goal. Buonanotte another good young player and along with Ferguson they're all born in 2004.

Ferguson needs better strikers around him next season, not only to score more goals for the club but also to make him a better player. His first touch, for example, needs some work.

A betting man would suggest they'll replace Welbeck this summer as they prepare for European football.

Ferguson will improve with more game time as well. He'll surely start next season as first choice striker there.

They've already spent £30m on João Pedro from Watford, who is 21 and is presumably expected to go in ahead of Welbeck, though Undav is replaceable as well. Pedro's stats don't look like anything to write home about, certainly compared to Ferguson or even Tom Cannon, but presumably Brighton must see potential there to go spending that amount on him.

Watched Brighton play Chelsea last night in Philadelphia. They were superb for long periods against a brilliant Chelsea team who had the advantage of playing against 10 men for the final 40 minutes. Joao Pedro looks like a real class act. So much so that I have little doubt in saying he will easily break up the Wellbeck-Ferguson top two of Brighton strikers. Could be a crossroads season for Evan. If he emerges as the number one striker at the Amex, he will be a far better player for it.

Enciso and Undav will provide plenty of competition also. Welbeck the most likely loser, but we will probably see plenty of rotation with European games also. But it's not a guarantee that Ferguson will be first pick for the big games at this point for sure.

I watched the game live and I thought he was brilliant when he came on. The control, turn and hit that went off the post was top class. Brighton are managing him very well, other clubs could be flogging him by playing him every minute of every game but hes been well looked after. That being said, if he gets 15 goals this season they will find it impossible to hold on to him. Hes a generational player from our point of view, the best we've had since Roy.

Unless someone breaks the British transfer record for him can't see Brighton struggling to hold onto him.

Someone will break the British transfer record for him without a doubt. Man United just paid 80 million for a lad who is 2 years older and just got 9 goals for Atalanta. If Ferguson as an 18/19 year old gets 15/20 goals this season every club in world football will be after him. I wouldnt be surprised to see Chelsea offer 150 Million for him before the end of this window the way they are stupidly throwing money around.

JR89

Think Ferguson's advisors would be smart enough that if he does really impress this season that another season at Brighton would still be really beneficial depending on how they get on as a club.

Think himself and Welbeck will rotate for a bit before Ferguson passes him out as first choice this season. Joao Pedro and Enciso will likely rotate for the support striker role but Pedro can play anywhere in those four attacking roles.

Depending on how many starts Ferguson gets this season then one more as out and out first choice CF for a full season would be great. He'll still only 18 which is crazy so another two years at Brighton and he's still only the same age as Hojlund is now. Probably already a better player than Hojlund as it is. Can't see him going into the United team as first choice and will likely rotate with Rashford for the first season.

The United fan in me wanted United to sign Ferguson this summer, but since that hasn't happened Brighton is perfect for him. As you said he'll get rotated which will avoid any long term burn out, and he'll also get exposed to European football this season, but their business model means that they will want to sell him at some point in the not too distant future.

Ferguson is not nearly as good as people are making him out to be. Bags of potential for an 18 year old for sure, but still not even the best striker at Brighton. Joao Pedro is much more of an attacking threat than Evan, Wellbeck has probably won the duel between himself and Ferguson over last 15 games and Adringa is arguably an equally good prospect right now.
