Get out of that nonsense, mid-week split-gate LC game against UCD with an attendance of 200 and putting on matchday programme, hot food van and club shop ensure you lose a nice unnecessary sum of money

Club shop ? Presumably volunteers. A single page programme/team sheet too much ?

And people wonder why crowds are low. 200 is too good for that nonsense

Despite the risk of incurring the wrath of some Bohs fans, it seems that the Dundalk players and staff are going ahead with donating a days pay to Temple Street hospital

Fair play to those involved. Great initiative and a worthy cause.

When is the draw for the next round? It will inevitibly be Bohs and they will grab a last minute equaliser and then Doyle awards a penalty to win - all will be forgiven....

No need to play the match now as you have so clearly called it ;) On to the final, hope our fav ref, whatshisname Doyle is the man with the whistle, great bloke and a top class ref :excruciating:

Yep. More poor stuff for the first, and got worse for the second. Coming out of the box like that, McGinley either has to get the ball or get the man.

I thought we were poor enough, and with the chances Harps had, I couldn't have had much complaint if they came away with the win. Thankfully more defensive mistakes made it ok for us in the end.

So, that's a our last home match until July. What a league.

Dundalk-Bohs.

Matches to be played on Monday 5th August.

No need to play the Dundalk-Bohs one, as we already know how it's going to play out. Dundalk break 3 Bohs players legs in the first half, and sends them off for feigning injury.

Dundalk struggle to score in the official 90, so the ref adds on another 7 minutes of added time, before Pat Hoban put away a 99th miniute penalty after tripping over his own shoelaces on the halfway line.

AT the halfway line!!

Pat Hoban is never at the halfway line during a game. Ditto for on the line, near the line or even (whisper it) inside the line

I think the ongoing Dundalk-Bohs stuff on here neatly encapsulates the downside of a ten team league and the resulting constant repetition of fixtures.

Wait till they draw each other in the FAI Cup. Then need a replay.

No chance of a replay 122nd minute peno for dundalk to win it.
Talbot trips on his laces as he is taking a goal kick, doyle books him for diving and awards pen to dundalk

Perhaps the impending relegation of Finn Harps also influences your thinking on a 10 team premier division?

Even with 12 teams there always seemed to be at least one fixture each season that was done to death playing 4 or 5 times a season between the different competitions. Drawing Bohs in the FAI Cup would not be a surprise at all!

No condescension on my part - but plenty by way of ridicule that you claim that some comments on an internet discussion board is a bigger issue for you than your clubs likely inability to stay in the division.

Literally nowhere did he say that - he said in the bit you quoted that it "neatly encapsulated" the issue - but you keep right on talking ****e and misrepresenting people's posts anyway.

I disagree.

He responded with a clear "Nope" to this question:

If the potential relegation has no bearing, yet the "Dundalk - Bohs stuff on here" in some way "encapsulates the downside of a ten team league" it is fairly clear (even if somewhat unbelievable) that the former is a bigger manifestation of the problem than the latter.

That's a pretty pointless post, other than using the opportunity to shoot off more personalised barbs.

Are you still sore over being called out on your madcap Nial Corbet posts?

In fairness mentioning the 'impending' relegation of Harps in May looked like a bit of a barb itself whether intended or not.

Ah, it's just Ezeikial. I think a random vent is good every now and again at probably the most annoying poster on the site (and I'd be far from the only person to hold that view)

Anyways, there's a League Cup thingy I hear?

You seem pretty determined to pursue a personalised approach with 3 successive similar comments .

If a poster annoys you to the extent that you claim, use the ignore function!

Note to self - must try harder!! I do think there often isnt much of challanging Ezeikial's points and people are a bit quick to react to the poster rather than the post. Of course there is a good dollop of winding up in posts but isnt that what a football forum is at least partly about!? mingled with discussion on actual footballing matters now and again.

Zero to none I'd imagine, Dundalk currently to play away in Azerbaijan on Wednesday July 31st, away in Sligo Saturday August 3rd, Bohs home Monday August 5th and either home or away on Tues/Wed/Thurs of that week depending on how our previous tie goes. I'd imagine the cup tie will be the first to go and wouldn't be surprised if the Sligo game was requested off too given the travel involved prior and possibly directly after.

Would the LC not take priority? Final is due on 14th September, whereas league fixtures can wait until the end of October.

As Bohs moved the Oriel league fixture to facilitate Dundalk I doubt we will be so obliging again, appreciate Dundalk doing well in Europe but the rest of the league doesn't suddenly stop. suspect we would want it played on or very close to that date.

I don't know, I think Dundalk would prioritize the league, I personally wouldn't care if we withdrew from the League cup to concentrate on Europe but I'd imagine if it is played on/around the 5th it will be the u19s with John Gill managing
and VP just focusing on Europe with the main squad.

Last season we had to play our U 19 team at Pats in a League game due to FAI Cup semi final replay (we won 😁). Bohs have twice had to play at Oriel on Monday night which causes problems for part time players, I doubt we would be agreeable to being messed around again.
